Title: Claret membership
Post by: Risso on September 06, 2018, 09:26:35 AM
Has anybody else joined up to the Claret Membership?  I did, more out of curiosity than anything, and it seems quite good to be fair.  You get a contactless membership card that you can add money to, and spend in the stadium and online, for which you get points for every transaction.  You can then use the points on rewards and auctions etc.  If you're into buying general Luke clobber (which I'm not) then you get 1 point for every £1 you spend in their shops or online.  Oh and you get a nice pin badge and window sticker, which is probably the first such thing I've received since I was in the Tuft Club 40 years ago.  And £10 off a match ticket.

It all seems quite slick and perhaps the first inkling that things are taking shape off the pitch at least.

I got the points as well through my season card and Villa cash - is this something addditonal?

Not sure to be honest, as I don't have a season ticket.  It looks like one of the new strategies that Luke Organ was talking about in that recent interview he did.

I was looking at this earlier too. This might be a silly question, but I'm already a member of one of the 'Lions' Supporters club, that are now affiliated to Villa. Is there any need to have a 'Claret Membership' as well...?

This seems to explain it better.

I think if you're a season ticket holder or Lions Club member, you're enrolled already.  The Claret Membership is then presumably more for fans like me who aren't in either of those two categories.

I became a claret member this year as well as signing my kids up to the cubs.  The rewards system seems quite good and the kids get 4 free tickets each for a £20 fee.  Very good indeed.

You get £10 of one match of your choice?

My daughter is in the Villa Cubs, it’s really good, £20 and she gets a membership pack, a backpack, she’s put into a draw to be a mascot, a few badges and 4 free tickets.

It’s great, apart from the backpacks haven’t turned up in time for the turn to school, but that a minor quibble against a good scheme to get the kids interested.

You get priority before general sale for away tickets as well.

I'm both a Lions Club and Claret member. The benefit of the Lions Club is definitely more for away ticket access, and the Holte pub access for homes.
I got the Claret membership for priority access to tickets – mainly the homes to be honest. Coming up from London I have to pick and choose games, so it's useful to have a greater choice of seats – so that I can sit next to mates who are season ticket holders, or book two or three seats together in better blocks.

My only gripe is that the Claret member pack encourages you to check in at the Holte Suite for extra Pride points, but that space is actually only for season ticket holders.

It's a good scheme but they don't send you your pack for ages. My lad's hadn't arrived after 5 weeks. I rang to ask where it was and they basically said, 'dunno, it takes about a month.' Only after a bit of moaning from me and a conversation with her boss was the lady able to get the pack sent out. It took another week! If I hadn't moaned, I don't know how long it would have taken.

I don’t know why so many seem to have not heard of the claret membership and joined, all these posts about being to x amount of games and not guaranteed a ticket, all you need to do is pay for this and you get first dibs for all tickets after ST’s, well worth it in my opinion for anyone who can’t have a ST for whatever reason. Been getting it whether it was villa cash or claret membership since they started. For clarity I still go to plenty of games, so not just got it for Wembley tickets

Claret Membership is still.£40 according to the Pravda.boutique. I suppose it's not that much to have an opportunity to buy a ticket if you need one.

Typically, I might get over once a season, if that, so there's that to think about.

My brother and his kids have STs for the women's but do this for the men's as they'll only go to around 4 or so games. Makes sense to almost guarantee a ticket if you're not going to too many.

Indeed, this is probably what I'll downgrade to next season as the ST price I'm not comfortable with and the KO times many don't work for me so I'd be better with claret membership albeit with 3 stands next season it won't go far

It don't make much sense , there's hundreds of resale tickets available closer to the games, especially now we will barely have many Saturday 3pm games. Unless it's a 'category A game' you've pretty much nothing to worry about  as long as you have booking history

It’s fine to hold your nerve for resale tickets if you’re only looking for a single ticket. But try finding 2 seats together on the Holte. Tickets go on sale to members at 5pm and within a few minutes there are only individual seats left.

That's very true actually. My suggestion is only if you need a single seat. Seats together especially more than two together very rarely come up. Membership best option for that

I''ve bought it for me and my lad this season for the reason Chico stated above, the games we went to last season we had to sit apart.  The nice water bottle has got the new crest on it too, so may become a collectors item  ;D

Same here, I have one for my son too. He gets a few goodies too by being a member. The issue I have is getting tickets where we both sit together, I have to be quick once a match goes on sale to members.

Tickets for Everton went on sale online to claret members last night at 5pm.

There are just under 1000 tickets left across the ground this morning as they go on sale via phone to claret members. About 2/3 of these are in the upper Trinity. There was nothing in The Holte End when I logged in about 6pm last night. There is nothing in the lower tier of the Trinity or Doug Ells.
There are only 9 individual seats left in the family area.

I used my new claret membership for the first time last night to get Everton tickets - I saw the email at 5:35 pm so logged in.  The Holte was showing availability in the upper, but the areas were "locked" and still are this morning, so I don't know what that means, maybe only until the phone opens up?  Ideally I'd have got two in the Holte for me and my son.  Anyway, I haven't been to the first home game for years, so was happy to buy anyway, but appear to have inadvertently bought two in the 1888 section at £68.50 (eek).  My son is outraged at the price, and being 23 wants to be in the Holte, it's a lot I know, but we are limited to how many games we can get up for so I didn't mind.
Anyone know what the 1888 seats are?  I'm also curious/annoyed about the Holte being locked out - anyone got any experience of that on the first release to members?
Thanks

Tell your son he will have a comfortable arse in his luxury padded seat.

I think others have said the Holte Upper is probably locked because they are still selling the Terrace View package to people and I guess they want to give them a selection of seats.

I was logged in bang on 5.00pm, and able to purchase a ticket 2mins after the window opened. Just able to get within 2 rows. and about 10 seats (horizontally) of where I wanted to be. Seats I had last season were already occupied, but this could have been moving ST holders.

Been checking the site quite regularly over the last couple of weeks for info about the Everton tickets, but there hasn't been anything on there.  Just happened to be checking my emails by chance yesterday and saw one saying that tickets for the Everton game were now on sale to members.

Might be normal practice, but think giving same day notice isn't great, especially given the current demand and the price increase (lower North Stand now £40) means that you probably have to plan ahead.

When the new prices were announced, on sale dates for every game were further down in the article. Too late for Everton, but might help you plan your next trip.

There was a prior notification on the AVFC site of when tickets for all games became available and could be purchased by different "member" categories. But I agree that previously this information came up on the ticketing page well in advance of each game.

Edit. See Danno's message above.

Anyone know what the 1888 seats are?  I'm also curious/annoyed about the Holte being locked out - anyone got any experience of that on the first release to members?
Thanks

Been checking the site quite regularly over the last couple of weeks for info about the Everton tickets, but there hasn't been anything on there.  Just happened to be checking my emails by chance yesterday and saw one saying that tickets for the Everton game were now on sale to members.

Might be normal practice, but think giving same day notice isn't great, especially given the current demand and the price increase (lower North Stand now £40) means that you probably have to plan ahead.

When the new prices were announced, on sale dates for every game were further down in the article. Too late for Everton, but might help you plan your next trip.

https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2023/july/17/Ticketing-details-for-2023-24/

Cheers.  Got one yesterday, but wouldn't have had I not checked my email by chance.  I bought a ticket for the Lazio friendly a while back and kept checking the ticket page on the site for the Everton game.

I was the same. I was pretty relaxed about it because I was sure there’d be a decent notification but I only saw it last night after I sat down after work.

Thanks for the link Danni - that is in now!

Yeah same here - I found the on sale thing while looking to see what 1888 seats were this morning.  Presumably the Holte will be released as normal going forward once the Terrace view debacle is either sold out or they realise it never will.

I think my bottle has gone to my previous address then. Now I need to decide if I do anything about it.
As a matter of interest, had you updated your address online? My account still shows my old address on the front page, but when you go into edit it, it's showing my new address. Think i'll need to get onto them to investigate.

I would get on to them because that was happening with me but they confirmed my membership address was different when I called.

In the update you have all been waiting for, I have received my water bottle and badge. Water bottle debut in the office today.

No pictures of gasping crowds?

I've been far more impressed with it than anyone else.

I don't think they've given much notification the last couple of years. It's pretty much always the Monday after the Saturday four weeks before the match for members.

It's an absolute shambles.

It's a daft idea, but the implementation is making it worse.  Why are they asking for £300 more than the cost of an actual season ticket with the Terrace View bolt on?  Why are they stating people will lose their place on the waiting list if they take it up?  Who would want to be locked into a double priced season ticket in perpetuity or go to the bottom of a 35k waiting list?  This must be taking loads of potential takers out the market.

If I was on the waiting list I'd never take this up even if I could afford it, as you're killing your chance of getting a season ticket proper for the foreseeable future.

This prompted me to check, and so has my 9 year old nephew! Of course he would love a season ticket, on his own, with access to an exclusive bar! What a shambles!

Someone on a FB group mentioned their daughter had been offered a terrace view ST and he only put her on the waiting list last June - so they must be down to the high 20ks on the list now.  I wonder if it's dawning on them yet.

I seem to recall mention not too long ago of a schedule that the club had published giving the dates when tickets would be released for home league fixtures for the season. For immediate purposes I'm wondering about the release of tickets for the Crystal Palace home game, but I wonder if anyone might be able to point me in the direction of this schedule of dates. The obvious place to look would obviously be the club's website, but if that is where it is then it's eluded me. Thanks.

I think the last time I had an email from the club I was around 14000 on the waiting list and I’ve not been to offered the terrace view so it seems very random.

So my Claret Membership was due to auto-renew on 11/08. My card details were up to date but the membership was today showing as 'expired'. I have bought a new membership manually but there seems to be a problem with automatic renewal that they may wish to look into. I have emailed them. Grr!

I've just had an e mail saying it's my last chance to buy tickets for the Everton game. Eh? It's sold out FFS.

Oh but wait, the e mail also says I can buy a Terrace view ticket for the match which "offers a new and improved matchday experience for Villa fans" for just £114!

They just don't get it do they? I don't want an enhanced matchday experience. I just want to buy a ticket that I'm supposed to be able to as I'm a claret member FFS.

The booking link shows there's still 101 seats available. I hope they don't sell them and they learn their lesson.

Thats fucking disgusting.  So they are holding seats back (from Claret members) to sell them for more than double the Cat B price of £45.50 (for the better Zone 2 seats)

Jesus Christ, I thought they were going to offer it for £25 a game?  They're now essentially trying to sell it for £68.50 on top of the match ticket price?
