Title: The Villa Resurgent
Post by: Louzie0 on June 06, 2018, 11:34:04 PM
I just thought that a positive thread would be helpful given that we have The Pit of Misery, Villa Fans Worried and Bruce Out.

Only positive stuff, please.

Start.

Well, we’re still The Villa!

It might provide the opportunity for the club to build a more sensible and sustainable structure with a focus on bringing through younger players.  I can only envisage more and more cases like this happening, so to get our house in order now could be beneficial going forward.

There's only one ASTON VILLA, the most beautiful name in world sport. We have history that simply cannot be matched as the founding founder members and we have club colours which are recognized around the world as the Villa's.

Whatever happens, good or bad, i'll always be proud to be a Villa fan.

The  euphoria amongst the fans of the realisation  in the 74-75 seaon that we were heading to the top division. The sensational ability of the 77 team to blow teams away,a Brian Little hattrick vQPR in LC semi final, the first half 5 goal slaughter of Liverpool who won the League,European Cup and lost in the FA Cup that year.
The fact that both Brighton and Burnley had to go to final games of the season to ensure League survival.

Last night I went to pick up my daughter from a friend's house. As we were walking along the river back to our house, in among all the people out jogging, I saw, for the first time ever, someone out running in a Villa shirt. He was on the other side of the road and I was in a rush, otherwise I'd have stopped him for a chat.

Like I said, Until something changes. Little did we know but as it turns out, at the start of the playoff final there was as much chance of us playing Premier League football as Division 6 football. Until anything is confirmed by the club i'm not going to worry about it.

We will always be Aston Villa, that, if nothing else will prevail and we will always be able to get 11 blokes out on the grass on a Saturday afternoon to get behind. The rest is just a soap opera.

This is the happy thread son, go pedal your misery somewhere else ;)

So there is absolutely no way we can get taken over/bought out and the money situation appeased. Absolutely no chance Dr X can find a way to get his money out of China before selling the only players who can get us back to the premier league? when i see them holding up another teams shirt then ill get down about it.

Okay, being almost certifiably positive:
Best case scenario: he's accepted an offer from someone (Freund seems as good as anyone), all assets are frozen until it goes through (no mass exodus), FFP resets, it's like the last two years never happened. And Jack stays as we're going to build the team, with a proper long term plan, around him.

This time next year we'll be (owned by actual) millionaires.

Walk under the expressway, buy a handv off Percy, fried onions and hotdog aromas, floodlights glow, hi viz coppers on horses, fresh horse shit, the Holte having a sing song, walk past Aston hall gates. Been 12 years away and since I’ve done that, but it’s the thing I miss most about blighty. Aus is great, but you can’t replicate that. We’ll come good.

oThe fans did their bit and more last season - let's hope we can have a manager In place who can unearth some fine young talent to go along with those we already have and most importantly find a new leader along the lines of Stan Petrov/Dennis Mortimer
The fans will support the team as long as they give 100% - we all want to see entertaining football however I would be happy to just see us winning regularly and passing the ball around when we are 2-0 up in a game or when we are 15 points clear at the top of the league - come on Villa !! Remember third division champions to European Champions inside 11 years - we've done it once we can do it again

Cut the negativity. This is supposed to be a positive thread. The players left will hopefully be fighting for Aston Villa. No more meek surrenders like the first half at Wembley.

My nose 'friends' have been sending the 'banter' my way on Facebook.

Have you had the "When you realise that Blues beating Fulham made Villa go bust" one yet?

That’s desperate, even for them.

What I take from all of this is that Villa still matter and are relevant.

The queue of ‘fans’ of other clubs to mock us shows they care about us than their own team.

I saw a tweet from a Newcastle ‘fan’ saying this was justice fo their relegation all those years ago....

My positivity!

New kit seems to be coming soon, just in time for Father's day a week Sunday, I hear it's akin the V neck (proper claret) of 82 / 83.

Another whisper is that all the leeches we don't want will have to have a "compromise" contract paid up otherwise we will hang them out to dry in public as a drain on us and not contributing.

Pre season to look forward to shortly after England's inevitable 2nd round exit.

I'd expect us to be in the championship for quite some time now so better to be a stable club with youth coming through and a sprinkling of cheap foreign imports who are hungry to play.

This leaves us with possibly a starting XI of

Bunn

Bree New DF New DF New LB

Green Lansbury Bjarnson Hourihane

Davis Hogan

Sold:
Chester
Elmo
Taylor
Whelan
Grealish
Jedinak
Adomah
Kodija

Fucked Off
Gollini
Richards
McCormack

-Leaves us with debts at sustainable level
-All the leeches fucked off
-New players coming in on promotion only bonuses
-Youth given a chance
-No more "we deserve to be in PL bollucks" just hard work, endevour and desire.
- 1 midfielder no longer sacrificed as "holding" (this is the goddam 2nd divison for fuck sake)
-Bruce given until Oct (unless he walks)

All in a positive way to start the season - just like everybody else who wants to get out the division. Oh and of course a huge kick in the nuts for WBA when we tear them a new on at VP.

On a positive note - we have not been told the new pitch has been cancelled. There must be activity in Witton lane with trucks taking away the old surface and a new one being laid.

That has been organised for months so can't see that being delayed.

The old pitch was dug up as the soon as the season finished, so I would hope they'd laying a new surface.

Pure Fantasy this one.....If SB goes, guess who appears after Doc T sells up?

Value consortium support, Fan / Supporter ownership / involvement, more realistic aspirations - why go up to be guaranteed to lose 12 games? Free of the shackles of Tarquinism, Mr A Wenger rocks up and organises all of the sports science in the club to get fit lads playing fast flowing festival football. The Multi £k pw players are gone, and for a couple of seasons we play exciting footy, becoming a bit of a 'bandit' club, capable of taking any prem scalp in the cups. As we develop to be faster and more fluid, we add in a couple (only a couple) of wise heads say a GK, and one in the back 4, and our academey has produced a 9, 10 and 2 quality wingers.

Then we are ready to go up and take on the world. Wenger as a purist is happy, and the money game has been largely avoided. We have a succession plan to take it forward from there.

UTV ..  haven't been drinking or dreaming!!

I met Peter Withe yesterday, cuddled the European Cup and remembered when Villa ruled Europe. I was only seven when it happened, but I remember it all so well. And nobody will ever take those memories from me.

My shiny new desktop background is making me very positive right now.

Something positive;

Even if losing Hutton, Terry and Grealish, we still have a squad good enough to get out of the championship.

The youngsters coming through, many are very decent players.

Davis, only 20 yrs old had a great season and looks strong.
Bree, only 20 yrs old is a player to watch next season, hopefully will come in for Hutton.
Suliman, only 20 yrs old, surely a player worthy of a place on the bench next season?
Sarkic, only 20yrs old, got to be our no'2 next season pushing for a no'1 spot?
Green, only 19 yrs old, good enough for a run in the 1st team?

And the forgotten man - who had a good loan at Crewe - who I rate quite highly - and who has a (small) touch of the Grealish about him

Harry McKirdy only 21 years old

So, we've won the opening three competitive fixtures in a season for the first time in my lifetime (and a bit longer than that too).

Given I've been on this planet for 47 bloody years that's a crap record to break!

Anyway, despite not looking great, despite it being in Division 2 and a cup match against a Division 4 side, we've won them all so far. Maybe, just maybe we're on the way back.

We should be aiming for 98/99 type start of 6 wins and 2 draws from the opening 8.

Sorry for posting here, I am having trouble accessing the forum and the pages are only showing the top few threads. Does anyone know if home shirts are back in stock at the club shop?

Thanks and sorry again for posting in this one, I can't find the thread for our kits.
