Very decent performance. Superb in the second half. Grabban was excellent.

Grabban is now the joint top championship goalscorer along with Vydra at Derby.

Played well, pressed well, four goals and a clean sheet. Most satisfactory. Yes it was against 10 men for the majority of the game so can't read too much into it, but job done. Thought Onomah did well, but Grabban MOTM for me. He does so much more than score goals. Wonder if we have an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

Very enjoyable. Clear MOTM for our big forward/winger who's one shy of 20. I also thought Onomah continued his resurgence and Whelan hardly put a foot wrong. We're also not conceding much with the pairing of Chester and Jedinak...maybe there's something in that?

Given the league situation and the quality of the sides the job here, once they had a man sent off, was for us to go at them and boost our goal difference so yes, job done.  We're into ifs and maybes but by getting 4 today we've made it so a Fulham defeat puts them within range, they were 7 ahead on goal difference before today which was worth an extra point.  Automatic promotion is highly unlikely but all we can do is get the points and goals on the board and see what happens.

That definitely changed the game, We were on top anyway but we'd been struggling to break them down, even the goal was a bit of lucky deflection onto the post to give houri a tap in.  2nd half they decided to defend the box rather than press us and any team that does that at this level is going to get punished with the attacking quality we have.

Agreed. Small shout out for Whelan who finally played in his best position with obvious instructions to stay there. Very disciplined performance, linking up, always making himself available and looking to pass the ball forward. Better late than never.

Great second half performance, everybody up to speed and putting a shift in. Only Hogan looks like he won't get a start but everybody else is now in with a shout. Some very clinical finishing, one shot on target first half, one goal. Six shots on target and three goals second half. A total of 21 shots on goal today, I imagine it's been some time since we had that many.

Overall a good team performance that sets us up for what should be a great big send off next Saturday at Villa Park. Delighted for our fans that traveled there today, a small pay back for those that suffered the trip to Norwich.

Thanks very much TV. Have just been telling my son who ironically , is in Toronto at the moment. His Canadian girlfriend took him to see Toronto play a Mexican team the other night and he reckons the locals are captained by ex Villa Michael Bradley. Can this be right or has he just been overindulging in the local Maple flavoured lager ?

No he’s 100% right on all counts. We played Chivas Guadalajara in the CONCACAF Champions League final. Lost the first leg 1-2 but TFC has been great and are more than capable of rescuing it in the second leg. And Villa legend Michael Bradley has been brilliant as team captain. I still believe unde the right circumstances he would have been a very good player for Villa. But then again we could probably say the same about a lot of players we’ve had over the past few years who have left the club.

Probably the most comfortable we've been in an away game since dicking sunderland 0-4 under Tactics. Ipswich barely crossed the half way line, hopefully we carry on the form into the play offs. 1 win from those bolton/QPR games and we'd of got second i reckon.

What a superb day out in the sun.  A pleasant drive the entire length of the A14 to Ipswich, a huge mostly empty car park two minutes from the ground, and a nice away fans only pub next to the river and also two minutes from the ground that was pleasingly numpty free.  Brilliant atmosphere in the away end, with Ian Taylor in the middle of all the fans.

A very good professional game from the team, with Grabban, Grealish, Bjarnason and Elmohamady the stand out performers.

Great confidence from Lansbury to make the run and say exactly where to put it. He's barely featured these last few months and can feel aggrieved given most of our lot in there go missing at various times.

I think we just needed a braver, more tactically adept man in charge. Bruce got it spot on against Ipswich, and I was wrong to question his selection. We should have approached more games like we did today.

Still, fingers crossed the season will end in celebration.

The players still understand the job to be done. Bruce deserves more than a little credit for that. I've had for months the image of Terry lifting the  trophy at Wembley. Not concerned about the semi. It's all about winning the final that counts. It's his to lose. No excuses.

I hope when we all reflect on this season it's not a case of pearls to pigs. Saying that, I believe this squad was too big for our manager. So much talent in a Mickey Mouse league..

I think we just needed a braver, more tactically adept man in charge. Bruce got it spot on against Ipswich, and I was wrong to question his selection. We should have approached more games like we did today.

Still, fingers crossed the season will end in celebration.
wenger will be available next season. I’d take him if we can get him. I learned my lesson about prejudice with Terry this season. Depending on the situation, he would either get this squad out of the championship, or comfortably keep us in the premiership next season.

We're on our way! We're on our way!

Grabban is a top player in this league.

As comfortable as they come that.

That’s a rubbish chant Ads.

2nd and 3rd verse do need some work. Still, it could be worse, it could be some heavy metal shite.

Or...even worse, it could be an audio book of your posts.

You bought it. I was only cashing in on Christmas. Did you buy my pencil case set too?

Some good performances, I thought Onomah finally showed what he can do.

A great win but more than a bit meh.

Bruce has a tough job in picking a team for the play offs, some of the replacement players are doing very well

Be good to sneak 3rd. Wouldn't fancy Boro in the 2 legs but the teams scrapping for 6th look shit. In the final I back us to beat anyone.

Boro wouldn't worry me. They are a typical Pulis team, good defensively but not prolific scorers. Also, they are our lucky team. 1981, 1988, 1989.

Talksport is an embarrassment.  Brazil is a bumbling wreck, Jim White still shouts, H and J are the most unfunny pairing ever, Durham will have no material once Wenger fucks off.  I quite like Danny Kelly.  Darren Gough is illiterate. Other than that, it's great.

Oh fuck, Mike Parry!  What a complete cock.

I am a big fan of Danny Kelly and H&J. The Two Mikes are good fun in small doses but Mike Parry is a bit of a one trick pony who grates on me after a while.

Onomah has been anonymous for most of his time at the Villa but seems to have come good in the last few games.

What a brilliant result! I kept checking me phone during a gloriously boozy BBQ in the Sun: and managed several "get in's" & many-a-fist-pump as the goals flew in. Hell, I might even watch the C5 highlights this morning. Yes, really. Oh & a special mention to 'The Edge' - who called it right, despite my glass-half-empty cautiousness. Bravo Sir (and I'll be cheerfully tucking into plenty Humble Pie this arvo). UTV!

Thanks for the shout out lol I predicted 3-0 but happy to be wrong! We seem to be acquiring the much needed momentum which is so vital for the play offs. UTV

I also raised questions concerning the team selection but ultimately it all came good, which is brilliant but again I think it was more in hope than planned.
It is questionable of just how bad Ipswich were especially when they went down to 10 men or how well we played.
Ipswich are a club in turmoil, the fans wanted McCarthy out so they have got their wish but they are now rudderless!
Personally I think that even the fringe players showed just how good they are and what a strong squad we actually have, which in some respects leaves a slightly sour taste in the mouth concerning the position we find ourselves in and where we should be!

His face looks like it got slapped very hard forty times by The Villa

FTFY ;)

Bloody hell, that's Alan Brazil. I'm off to the Deathwatch Thread.

If anything, he’s lost his looks

Good win yesterday. Confidence is building again.

Just wished we could've saved some of the goals for Norwich and one of Hull/Bolton!

Last two games would be really exciting instead of the dead rubbers from our POV.

The first page of the Match Thread make an interesting read.

Some of the comments about the line up were vey amusing. 'Bruce can't help himself' being a particular highlight.

I think you’d have to have not a lot going on in your life if you find that very amusing. Each to their own though.

Just got home from pretty much the ideal away trip.  Glorious sunshine, exhibition football, 3 points, umpteen pub visits around a nice town with no drama, no dickhead away behaviour and a decent curry. Bootiful.

In Cheltenham General hospital with a poorly Mrs Crump so haven’t been able to follow v closely but well done Villa and I hope Cardiff do slip up because on the evidence of last evenings game I would fancy our chances against anyone else in the Playoffs except Fulham, who do look a properly good footballl team in all fairness.

All the best to you wife hope for a speedy recovery.
