Villa Park. Tuesday 13th March. 7.45 pm.
The post-match thread is still bubbling with joy but this rearranged fixture is almost upon us. Also, I can't wait for Tuesday night.
Yesterday QPR beat lowly Sunderland 1-0 with 52% possession, 5 shots on target, and a 62nd minute goal; they are clearly saving themselves for us.
However, I think they are 'avin' a larf™ if they think they are getting anything more than fack all points at Villa Park.
-
2-0
-
Be nice to put a few past them just in case it does come down to goal difference at the end of the season.
-
Tut-tut. Tuesfay indeed.
A routine 3-nil, and the Villa go marching on.
-
I think he's still celebrating.
-
I really can’t see us doing anything other than winning comfortably. 3-1. Hope though everyone is fit after Wolves resorted to kicking Jack, Snoddy’s and Albert.
-
4-1 Villa. I can see us winning all the last 10 games. QPR have a poor away record. Need to ram Gollum's words down his throat...
-
2-0 home win
-
3-1
-
1-1
-
3-0 and we move on to Bolton
-
Continue the form, 3-0.
-
We have Jack, Grabban and Adomah. We’re not losing against Worzel. 2-0
-
A thoroughly professional 2-0 win
-
I'm entirely confident we shall win comfortably, expect the worst.
-
It’s on my 40th birthday, so 3 points will be a grand present please Villa
-
Expect a win as I'm sure most do. I hope those that are lucky enough to be there get behind the lads and make some noise. As the players and manager have been pointing out it really makes a difference. Yesterday was something else and a repeat on the pitch and from the stands should leave us with a similar result but without them scoring.
4-0 Villa
-
I choose Fay.
-
Just need to be 100% focused and professional. Non of this cocky we only have to turn up to win attitude. That rarely works for us
-
Lewis to continue his goal spree 3 - 0.
On another note Bad, why did you start another thread, if we'd continued with the old one we could've made it the longest Pre-Match Thread in the history of H & V. :(
-
chicken's and being hatched comes to mind
Feet on the ground sensible approach, no reason we should not win.
-
Bruce 3, half arsed manager who used to be famous 0. Fuck off Gollum
-
No complacency, a machine like performance please. Doesn't always have to be free flowing I guess.
-
It’s on my 40th birthday, so 3 points will be a grand present please Villa
Hope you have a fitting result, it was my 40th on the day of the Sunderland match.
-
Having had a few injuries happen with the many games I think opportunities to start some who didn't on Saturdays epic victory.
Namely Lansbury and Bjarnason give some others a rest who ever they may be. Also Hogan or Davies to partner Grabban up top.
Wouldn't mind seeing Bree come in for Elmo.
Just a few tweaks keep squad fresh. Why keep playing same players when there is a squad and a match on Saturday too. However which ever team put out like to see off this lot.
-
Need to be our toes here as Gollum will defo try to gee his team up for this one. Hope it’s not a flat atmosphere.
-
Since beating Cardiff on new year's day, they've only beaten Bolton (h), Barnsley, (h), Burton(a) and Sunderland(h). They've won two and drawn five of seventeen away from home, scoring fourteen goals along the way.
There is absolutely nothing gollum can say to his players to gee them up to a level where they can beat us. There is no way we're going to let these off the hook after Saturday. Not. A. Fucking. Chance.
4-0. Minimum.
-
Lewis to continue his goal spree 3 - 0.
On another note Bad, why did you start another thread, if we'd continued with the old one we could've made it the longest Pre-Match Thread in the history of H & V. :(
Because nobody would have seen the original one in the archives.

Tut-tut. Tuesfay indeed.
A routine 3-nil, and the Villa go marching on.
Not space after the full stop either.
-
In some ways a trickier fixture than Wolves. We knew exactly what to expect with Wolves and what we had to do to beat them.
Not so with QPR. Big danger of complacency.

'No'.

Couldn't disagree more on every single point. That reads like a cliché bingo post written about Man City being drawn against Alfreton in the cup.
We've just twatted the (for now) leaders in the process of scoring 11 in 3. I know a certain level of fatalism comes with the territory as a football supporter, but it's QPR we're talking about. Ftf.
-

Hope you have a fitting result, it was my 40th on the day of the Sunderland match.
It was mine on the day we pumped Blues. I see a pattern here...
-
Be warned. I think we're going to win and comfortably, 4 or 5 nil. I never think that.
Hopefully the crowd are up for it after yesterday. I don't think we've had a decent atmosphere for a midweek game in the Championship have we? The crowd is always flat and the performance seems to match. Let's get the gaff rocking again.

I can see what he's perhaps trying to say. Let's not go in too complacent.

We won't, I have absolutely no doubt about that. Seeing the players after the final whistle on Saturday, I got the sense that they, too, feel that glory is within their grasp. They all know what needs to be done, and for the first time in seven long, misery-filled years, I have faith in those in claret and blue to accomplish it.
-
I’d expect a flat atmosphere and a struggle to gee ourselves up for the game
Although I think the original game was heading for a big attendance so maybe a good chunk of people have retained their tickets
Not sure if we’ve any fresh injuries? Adomah maybe?
I’d probably bring in Bjarnason for Jedinak.
Jack should be too good for them
-
Start Jack for momentum. Get a couple of goals then start preserving our top players by using the squad. Love Jedinak but would like to see BJ back in after a dream goal Saturday 2-0 Snodders - Terry .......
-
I think I said 8-0 in the original match thread and I see no reason to think differently.
-
Complacency is the biggest enemy.
-
Never an easy fixture for the villa. Go for a hard fought 2-1 home win
-
Complacency is the biggest enemy.
Yes, too right. Get a 2 nil win, with no injuries.
-
2-1. Just hoping it isn't too much of an 'after the Lord Mayor's show' performance.
-
You don't get bonus points for beating Wolves. QPR is every bit as important, Bruce will make sure the players are in no doubt about that. A convincing win and I'll start to believe we aren't going to drop away from 2nd.
-
0 - 0.

Why would you think that? Everyone will still be buzzing after Saturday and the players too. It think we'll slaughter them.

I have often found there is a bit of a come down after big matches like Saturday's I must admit. But I hope you're right and we do slaughter them.
-
I can certainly see where Matt is coming from.
It will be a lower crowd than Saturday by a fair few thousand and it will be a more expectant atmosphere.
PNE was pretty flat, hardly any signing although our terrible first half performance didn't help.
Regardless I always expect us to beat QPR at home, they are pretty poor away.
2-0.
-
Can't see anything other than a 5-0 stuffing to us
-
I think it will be a routine win.
By one goal.
UTV
-
No complacency please lads, there's a need to boost the goal difference UTV
-
I'm going for a 2-0 win we need to keep going.
-
Just stay focused Villa. Focus on this game and get the job done. Three points and I don't care how you do it.
5-0 is good but 1-0 is great too.
Just get the three points and keep going.
-
Lansbury might come in for Hourihane ? Seems to be the one struggling a bit at the moment.
-
QPR’s main weapon is 6’8” Matt Smith, which makes me think we should start Jedinak rather than Barney.

We need a Dalek or a Cyberman to counter Matt Smith.
-

I think we can trust Terry and Chester take care of him and hopefully we'll be playing on the front foot, so Matt Smith can spend all game defending free kicks and corners.
Snodgrass was quoted at the weekend saying that Bruce trusts his players. Let's hope it's true and after Saturday he'd be a fool not to. No more over cautious team selections and tactics. Set them free and sit back and watch them rip Rangers a new one.
-
Can we expect Terry and Jedinak to play 2 games in 72 hours? This is a game we could make a couple of changes to keep everyone fresh
What on earth has happened to Samba / Green - it is like they have been kidnapped

sadly due to work I cannot make it :(

1-1
-
So having looked at form and fixtures they have had last 3 matches all at home
Home win 1:0 Sunderland
Home draw 1:1 Derby County
Home loss 2:5 Nottingham Forest
There last few away matches have all been losses to the then top 6 teams
Conceded 2 goals each time
Sheffield U 2:1
Wolves 2-1
Bristol City 2:0
However they haven't conceded more than 2 goals away since early November.
That said have near relegation form away from home having the 21st worst away record.
Only have 2 wins in 17 away matches.
Scored 14 goals conceded 27.
It's their away form that has outdone them this season and seen them struggle as overall home form is near play off level (being 7th best)
Qpr need a few more points to be safe of relegation and that they take 2nd most shots in the league average 14.1
Luke freeman has assisted 11 goals (2nd only to snoddy) so I think these factors will show qpr up for the match and to attack for a goal.
They shown they can score recently against wolves and Sheff U.
So stats point to a 2-1 win.
I think it ll be 2 goal margin 2-0 or 3-1.
Same levels and atmosphere as against wolves then would be 5 or 6-1.

What on earth has happened to Samba / Green - it is like they have been kidnapped
Green is injured.
-
I'd also like to add Qpr are away to a Fulham on Saturday early afternoon 1230 and they would hope to target a great performance and try and all out win that derby match.
So let's also hope this could be a factor in efforts at villa park. And then after wanting to beat them we like them to do us a favor on Saturday so maybe a massive beating could spark a reaction for them!
Anyway let's of course get this out the way the cheer on Matt Smith, Luke Freeman on Saturday v Fulham .
Ian Holloway from villain to hero. In less than a week. We all call him a beautiful man then.
-
QPR’s main weapon is 6’8” Matt Smith, which makes me think we should start Jedinak rather than Barney.
But he is shit.
Far more effective at Loftus Road this season.
-
Are some people on here seriously suggesting that we, we should change our line-up to compensate for some non-threatening lanky nobody from QPfuckingR? Get a grip. Jeez.
(although I wouldn't play Jedinak for the full 90. Start him, get Bjarnason on as soon as comfortable. We need to manage Jedinak; the more games he starts, the better.)
-
2-0 Grabban x 2
On to the next one, UTV!

so 4-0 Villa

They are going to park the bus.a 1-0 villa win

I asked the Samba question a few weeks ago to no avail - where the fuck is he??
He was there Saturday. We saw some of the players arriving in the car park and Samba was one of them.

He's not a set of car keys. It's not like he's incon-f***ing-spicuous, now is it. (c) Bricktop

A comfortable and professional 2-0 with Cardiff losing at Brentford and Wolves world domination back on track after beating, ahem, Reading.
-
29,000 tickets sold according to the official site.
-
Given this was orginally a Saturday game we surely had sold more than that?
-
They are going to park the bus.a 1-0 villa win
Would be a great result.

You still bashing on about the crowds?
-
They have some youngsters with a bit of pace from the highlights I have seen lately. I would rest Hourihane and start Angela and Thor, resting Jedinak. Grabban looks like he's got goals in him all the time, really impressed with him. We need to get a forward option on the bench too.
-

Agree with your thinking entirely. We need both fresh legs and a bit of pace for this one.
-
I would 100% just take a win tonight by any means. However, this could be an opportunity to claim ground on the best goal difference in the league. Where we finish could come down to GD
-
I think it will be one of those games where we'll win 2-0 and not have to do too much to get the win. Adomah and Snodders with ours.
Those kind of wins are going to be vital in the run-in, as we aren't always going to play as well as we did at the weekend. I think we are now strong enough at the back and have enough quality in the final third to get the exact kind of wins you are talking about.
-

The only change I would consider would be Jedinak for Bjarnason, as the former may not be able to manage the Saturday - Tuesday - Saturday schedule. As for the bit in bold, Hogan and Davis were on the bench on Saturday.

Oh dear.....but we know what you meant to do here. Only 29000 sold a disgrace.
-
I would have accepted a draw against Blues for a win v Fulham. So we need to make sure after the great win on Saturday we don't mess this one up. We need to have a plan from the bench if things are going awry on the pitch.
-
Just Win Villa.
No excuses.

The only real question for me would be whether Hutton would play at left-back ahead of Taylor.

In many a way i feel more nervous about tonight's game than on saturday.

Yes, definitely. And as good as Jedi is, I think some games Barny may be a better choice.

Same here. In a way, every game feels like a six pointer. Lose, and we face being 7 points off 2nd which would be a huge gap to make up at this point of the season. Win, and it's possible we're a point off. I think it will be a nervy 1-0 tonight, to us.
-
A win, simple!!
-
every game's now a cup final and has been for a few weeks. Immense pressure on the top four collectively.
-
Derby have shown, if you have a bad couple of weeks you are done.
Despite Fulham's form and good players, if they have a slight blip second place is gone.
-
A win - I'd like 2 goals scored by us first (obviously not for a 3 goal comeback) but I'll take anything. Early goal again the key.
-
I'm shitting myself about tonight, for some reason.
Feels like the kind of game where we coast into it assuming we'll win, create next to nothing and end up getting beaten 1-0 after a goalkeeping howler or something.
-
With Grealish back and bang in form we should be beating these.
They were poor at Loftus Road and 2nd half we battered them. Us only getting 2 flattered them.
They favour a 352 at times and I think with Grealish pulling the strings, we will cause havoc.
No changes for me from the side that started against Wolves.

3-0 to us. Terry, Hogan, and Double A again!

A win, simple!!
It really is that simple. It might transpire that we don't need to in the end, but we should be approaching every game now with the attitude that it is a must win.
-
No changes for me from the side that started against Wolves.
I've just heard there are no changes.
-
I’d bring in BB for Jedinak. Just to rest the big man. But not a big deal if we don’t and keep the same line up.
-
I think it could be a tight game tonight, only because of Saturday's efforts. I'd swap BB for Jedi and maybe give Hourihane a night off. 2-0. UTV.
-
We should be buzzing still. If not, Bruce does his bit to make them buzz. With the same attitude, endeavour and passion there can only be a Villa win and a Villa win by a big margin.
-
What's the weather like over there? Hopefully we get a fair few walk ups so we can get the place rocking again!
Come on me Babbies!!!

Weather was horrible this morning but it's gone lovely this afternoon, clear sunny not too cold. I think they've got 30k sold from the rearranged fixture so hopefully there's those and then some.

Need to win this one or all the good work on Saturday will be undone.
Wolves should win their next two then they have Middlesbrough away.
Cardiff could drop points in their next two, Brentford and Derby, then should beat Burton.
Fulham have QPR next, so should win that, then a toughie away trip to Norwich.
Our next three QPR (h) Bolton and Hull (a) tricky, but, are all winnable
