Posting it. 8)
Kick off 3pm, Saturday 3rd Feb.
UTV!
-
4-0 home win and a good day out back at Villa Park
-
3-0 us. They aren't in the best of shape mentally, will be very wary of our form and confidence. After a slightly edgy start we'll start to command possession, score and run out to a comfortable win.
Hogan, Grealish and Conor.
Second half debuts for Grabban and Axel.
-
3-0 home win, Easy, easy, Easy
-
Any win is good but we have to be looking at this game as a great chance to overhaul Derby's GD. 4 - 0 to us.
-
Next two games are a foregone conclusion, as will be the case with most of the others now. We are becoming so boring and predictable I'm not even going to look out for our results any more. Bruce Out. ;)
Open a thread on Derby v Brentford instead to see if we go 2nd this week or next.
-
2-0 win for me. Though they may prove a little tougher to break down than we hope. Not bothered about performance, its the result that matters to keep the momentum and maintain the pressure on Derby.
-
This game has a similar feel to Bolton at home earlier in the season. Would be happy with the same scoreline, but think we will put on a performance this time. 4-0 again for me.
-
4-0.
-
Poll added.
-
I hope our players aren't as complacent as our posters!
That's the only danger really.
-
I've been beaten down over the last x years, so my head is saying "it cannot last".
Head says we'll get a draw and a loss in our next two games. So we either lose this one, or the next one against the Blues.
Sorry for being a miserable scrote.
-

Don’t worry my boy. I’m on a five game match thread starting winning streak. If I don’t start it at the weekend fear the worst.

I must say I'd forgotten that they'd signed Bent. That worries me a bit.
-
No time for complacency now.
We've got to press the life out of them and hold that high line we had against Barnsley, where our full backs were starting off 35 yards from their goal.
Same team for me, but with Lansbury, Green and Grabban on the bench with Axel, Jedi, Taylor and Bunn.
-
17-1 (all of them scott hogan including the own goal)

I noticed our old friend there too.
Bent hasn't played this year so he can hardly be match fit. If you couple that with not being very fit anyway I can't see him getting more than 1 goal.
-
2-1

Bent was finished when he left us. He's got worse since hence his move to bottom of the table Burton.
-
Comfortable home win.
-
Think we need to change things around a bit. Spent a lot of Tuesday night chasing the ball and it was a fairly physical game.
AA definitely needs a breather....Green for him. Would leave Elmo out too and give Bree another go. Hourihane's threat from outside the box could be crucial. 3-0 cruise...
-
3-1 to the Villa. 6 on the trot, Beatification of Bruce.

Same for poor old peter w by the looks of it.
-
Keep our heads, get a couple of goals and take the momentum into next week! Recently started a job that doesn't involve weekend work, I'm absolutely buzzing to attend more regularly again and this is my first game. UTV!
-
would take a 1-0 win now. No games in this league are easy.
-

This one really should be.
-

Come on you know that’s not true.
-
Hope we keep up our good record against them. The worry is that we’re thinking more about the match after Burton.
Will be weird seeing Bent play for them.

Start it if you must but you will stay on the precipice of sack as we move along.

It's in keeping with the Steve Bruce approach to back to the wall management. And I'm sure you'll all be hysterical and want me out as soon as we do lose.
-
3-0 or 3-1. I will go for 3-0 so stick your money on it finishing 3-1!
-
Can't believe the complacency from one or two posters on here. Five wins in a row has gone to some people's heads. Surely we've learned by now not to take anything for granted. Work hard, do the basics right, don't make errors, respect the opposition. And certainly don't think about the next game.... No need to change a winning team either. Tick all those boxes and our quality should shine through in the end.
-
I am so complacent I am no longer wearing my lucky Villa pants on match day. Easy! Easy!
-
This will be tougher than we think, not least because of the weight of expectation.
That said, we’ll win 3-1.
-

Do we assume you're actually wearing pants at all though?
3-0 Villa by the way.

Fucking hell, that's more inspiring than the St Crispin's Day rally! Duly fired up, I'll be doing double sessions on the pinot grigiot. I fell into the rookie's trap of assuming that how I feel it'll go will have no bearing on the result. Ridiculous complacency!

That surely can't be our peter w but whoever it is sounds a right little ray of sunshine.
-
There’s a real feel good factor starting to gain momentum, from half season ticket sales to under 23’s results to savvy responses to Leeds new badge to our CEO being on the money with his transfer video and last but by no means least our team showing team spirit, work rate, desire and belief. There will be a big expectant crowd expecting a bucket full of goals..... 1-0 to Burton it is then 👍
-
Yep, I'm wondering if we'll get our "How dare you begin to believe in the Villa again!" performance.
-
That surely can't be our peter w but whoever it is sounds a right little ray of sunshine.
It might be. He’s got previous. Going on other teams forums and telling us all about it I recall.

Why is he banned?

Comfortable 2-0 win. Grealish and Hogan.
-
3-0 Win.
-
Hopefully we won't go into the game thinking we just have to turn up but i'm sure the likes of Terry won't let that happen anyway. Get the first goal and Burton's heads should drop. 3-1. Adomah, Snodders and sub Grabban with ours.
-

Yep. Only change I would consider tomorrow would be Onomah coming in for Hourihane, who I thought looked a bit out of sorts and jaded on Tuesday night. Hopefully will we see a more adventurous bench which looks something like:
Bunn, Taylor, Axel, Jedinak, Hourihane, Green, Grabban
-
This should be 3 very comfortable points but for some reason I've got a very bad feeling about it. Sorry to be the pessimist but I must go with my gut, I think we might struggle to get going like we did in the first half v Sheff Utd and if we don't get that stroke of luck in the 2nd half we'll only come away with a point.
-
3-1 Villa
-
any type of win and another 3 points in the bag please Villa
UTV
The Doc
-
Potential banana skin game and Burton are better away from home.
0-1.
-
6-1
-
We really have to keep this run going.
Onwards and upwards....3-0 Villa
-
I'm going for a 3-0 win to keep our run going.
-
Its crucial we score early.
The key to that will be the line we hold and ensure we press them high up the park. Another 352 to turn into 532 by the positioning of Snoddy, Adomah and the full backs.
Get Grealish on the ball and him moving it that fraction quicker.
I wouldn't change the side, but Hourihane and Adomah were iffy Tuesday, so I would have Lansbury/Axel/Jedinak and Green to hand if needs be.
Its important the focus is there with the intensity to move that ball quickly.

They seem a far more likeable bunch that the Sheffield lot.

Stone him.
Villa in a comfortable win
-
Potential banana skin game and Burton are better away from home.
0-1.
They are. Very impressive in their last away game...
-
Looking forward to being at Villa Park tomorrow.
I want to see us looking like a team that is going up.
-
1-0 Villa. Comfortable but not rampant, Jack 'world class' Grealish to get off the mark with the only goal.
-
They are bottom of the league with a -33 goal difference. Perform with any level of competence and we will win, score early and it should be by a comfortable margin.
-
Derby GD is -3 so if we can get in the groove we need some goals as may prove crucial over coming weeks
-

Same again would do nicely.
6-0!

You've never owt nice to say about the oppo!

Fast start at la Barnsley and this could be put to bed by halftime.
4-0

I'm not saying anything nasty.
If you want to predict we are going to lose a game that's no big deal, but if you're going to base it on the away form of a side who have just lost 6-0 in their last game away, making it three defeats on the spin, then you're on some pretty shaky ground.
-
I think we will be a bag of nerves in nosebleed territory but will do enough to win.
-
It’s great to see some optimism on here after all this time. We’re not quite at SeattleVillain Hold onto your seats levels of hype yet but heading in the right direction.
-
An easy 4-0 win.
Against most sides I'd be concerned at a disappointment after recent great results but I think we will win this one easily.
-
I'd like a decent win going into the blose game for some momentum but would take a shakey 1-0 off someones shin.

Just watched him on Midlands Today, top bloke & legend
-
Clough trying a bit of reverse psychology claiming they haven’t got a chance at Villa Park. Bruce and the players won’t fall for that load of guff.

What about Blakey ?
-
Derby beat Burton 1 - 0 and Fulham beat them 6. It's something in between I hope. Maybe a 2 or 3 goal salvo.
-
Tomorrow's Dream:-
Aston Villa (Volume) 4 - Burton Albion (Super) Nought.
Avit! 8)
-
I will be happy as long as we score one more than they do.
-
Another of those typical you know Villa games. Everything points to an easy afternoon of 3-0. But a Darren Bent line lead Burton might make it uncomfortable for us. 2-1.
-
Has to be a win surely? 3-1
-
Villa, some. Hogan (2), Adomah, Terry in front of The Holte. Them, fewer. Probably none.
It's good to be excited about the games. Not just ours, but eagerly keeping an eye on others too.
Which reminds me, why the prominence given to PL scores and results over Championship on the big screens? Small gripe, but I couldn't give a monkey's about the PL at the moment.
-
Bristol's result against Bolton is a reminder tomorrow's game will be tough and needs complete focus and effort.
-
This is as much of a gimme as you can get in a league game. They're shit. Worst defence and only sha have scored less. Wednesbury Old Athletic should finally be removed from our records tomorrow.
-

Wish you hadn't said that. >:(
-
No complacency please. An early goal for us would be nice. Albert is due one.
-

Darren Bent is 73.
-
I think we will be a bag of nerves in nosebleed territory but will do enough to win.
I am not quite as old git as you, but really don't expect too many nerves in the team with the experience in there. I am concerned about Bent, but we have hungry players who need to perform to keep their places. 3-1 will do me
-
But a Darren Bent line lead Burton might make it uncomfortable for us. 2-1.
You mean the Darren Bent who has not played this season and hasn't scored for about 2 and half seasons?
-
You heard it here first....it’s all I’m saying. I do hope I’m utterly wrong of course.
-
Another of those typical you know Villa games. Everything points to an easy afternoon of 3-0. But a Darren Bent line lead Burton might make it uncomfortable for us. 2-1.
We’ve won 5 straight and such is their desperation they signed a very has been Darren Bent. I have no doubt if we were a porous defence and in poor form any striker would be a concern. But we’ve also only conceded once in those 5 games. Being cautious is fine but we really should be winning this comfortably.
-
I wish people would just agree with kippax. Like playing with an ouija board going on about how crap and old Bent is now.
-
Burton have also conceded 12 goals in their last three games. No surprise that they are all defeats. They’ve scored 22 league goals all season, only the useless Noses have scored less at 19. They’ve conceded 55 times.
We get ahead, take the pressure off and they will open up in trying to get back into it.
-
I do hope the manager says more about our positives than the goals they conceded Toronto Villa.
-
The manager should be concentrating on many things. I’m just pointing out that they are not a good side and for many reasons we should win this game if we apply ourselves correctly.
-
I was thinking about over complacency but suspect that will not happen. I would rather the manager saying what a good team we are, do you want to make these fans proud of you etc? Not just say they are a poor team, just beat them
-
Why the bollocks is anyone - anyone at all - worrying about playing the bottom of the table team at home? Our only worry should be whether the scoreboard will have enough room to put all the goals up.
-
I wish people would just agree with kippax. Like playing with an ouija board going on about how crap and old Bent is now.
Again Darren Bent IS old and yes he IS crap.
-
yeah but how many old and crap players have scored against us. not worth the risk jinxing it. :(
-
They will park a big bus. Need to make sure we can break it down.
3 points is all what matters tomorrow.
-
Same team to play. Do not change a winning team thing. I just want Terry to score as I have a bet he will score more goals than gabby. 3-0 Hogan-Grealish-Terry .....
-
4-0 onto the next one.
UTV!
-
This is going to be a very difficult game, 1.0 goal in the last 15 mins, they are fighting to stay in the division.
-
3-2 to us
-
I’d like to see us go for the throat in the first 15 minutes as an early goal will see them fold, if we go into the second half all square I can see the big crowd getting edgy.
3-0
-
I’m hoping our record signing doesn’t score!
-
Geezer Butler is making an appearance on the pitch at half time today, part of him being inducted onto the Birmingham walk of stars.
A genuine legend and huge Villa fan all of his life.
-
I’m hoping our record signing doesn’t score!
He's shopping
-
I hope it's not one of those games where we go a goal up then appear not to be not in too much of a hurry to get a second one. There's been a couple like that this season and it's frustrating to watch. With the confidence that must be running through the team though, I'm sure that won't be the case.
-
Just hope we don't Old-Villa it all up.
-
5-0. Derby draw with Brentford. Sitting pretty in 2nd place tonight.
-

I'll drink to that

I wonder if the scoreboard has double digits?
Now I've said that, expect an early Villa sending off and a 0-1 defeat.

Yes, b-but we are Aston Villa. 😱

There is this incredibly weird sensation today, one that I haven’t had for years.
I am genuinely looking forward to going down the Villa today.

Mind you, 9/1....
-
Actually think we are better set up to play away at the moment, but I would expect us to keep the bandwagon rolling against Burton. 3-0. Terry, Albert and Davis.

Haven’t read the entire thread (poetry?) - but I’m worried that the last 5-win streak was ended by a home defeat to a soon-to-be-relegated team beginning with ‘B’
-
They will park a big bus.
Except their bus has lots of windows with no glass and open doors.
