I'm looking for a routine three points and a rousing, swashbuckling dispatch of the unlikeable ones. I'm expecting just the three points. 3-1.
-
3-1
-
My 3-1 is turgid and uninspiring. What is yours like?
-
2-0
-
2-1 another one where we feel we could have done better but still get 3 points. Millwall upset Sheffield but I think that was against the run of play. I don't think they've won away all season - oops I wrote it down!
-
This might be the game to look at something a bit different. Maybe resting Whelan or Hourihane, dropping Onomah back into a deeper role and starting Grealish could be an option for this one just to give us a bit more of a spark. z\
-
A Villa win, but I'm not too confident that Samba et al will keep a clean sheet.
-
Good to see 100% expectating a Villa win, and no excuses.
2-0 for me.
-

This.
The manager seems reluctant to stray very far from the core players that have edged us into the play-off zone but I'm sure he must realise that he will not get through the whole of December without making some significant changes - not least the need to find a way to give Davis a break up front.
-
Id bring back Elmohamady, think we miss him going forward. I'd move Hutton to lb. Would definitely find space for Jack in the starting line-up. Tight win by the odd goal.

Taylor hardly deserves to be dropped, best I've seen him play for us was against Leeds.
Grealish and Lansbury for Hourihane and Onomoah I reckon. Team needs to be freshened up.

Hutton at LB means Adomah won’t get forward as much
-
2-1 win for me as well.
-
Got a sneaking feeling we might see Jack starting too, and the use of Calum O'mindmyhair from the bench.
Anyway, a comfortable 3-1 win to us
-
OK. Who's predicted a Millwall win?
-
Me. The overconfidence was making me nervy.
-
And there was me thinking it was Clampy.
-
If we get back to playing like we did second half at Leeds we’ll be fine. We’ve been good at home under Bruce and there should be nothing to be fearful of with Millwall. Do our job well, play like we can and we’ll come out on top. Stick me down for 2-0.
-
Lansbury and Grealish to come in for Hourihane and Onomah. Give them a rest as they looked jaded. RHM and Gabby both on the bench as well as Davis could do with some time out.
Them pair would let us switch to a more conventional 442, with the pace to really expose Millwall later on.
-
At risk of disrupting the points juggernaut I would really like to see him freshen it up a bit. Grealish and Lansbur for Onomah and Hourihane as others have said. Im also concerned Davis looks like he needs a bit of downtime and we dont appear to be managing Whelan at all, although we dont have ready made replacements for either which is worrying
Anyway, Im thinking routine 2-0 win and no troubles
-
3-0 to the mighty Villa.

I accept it took a lot of people a while to appreciate Whelans contribution to the team. You still don't rate him though?
-
Win. 3_0
-
Got to win these sort of games if we are going to make the top 2. 2-1 villa win.
-
Home win with minimal fuss.
-

He needs to start to switch it up. A couple of the lads definitely look bagged. Especially Keinan. My concern is that he’s afraid of doing that and upsetting the chemistry in the team. But that’s what a squad is for and it should be our competitive advantage versus the majority of the division. The last thing we need is a MON style collapse in March because we overused certain players.

I think he was saying we haven't been able to rest Whelan (or Davis) as opposed to him not being very good.
-
6-0 Villa.
-

By the time Saturday rolls around, it will have been almost 8 days since their last competitive game so surely they will be rested by then ? Or do you suspect they are carrying minor injuries ?

Fair enough.I wasn't quite sure what he meant by "managing" him.
-
I'll be there so it'll be a difficult game won with a last minute scorcher from Jack.
-
So they beat United last weekend but they are shit so a straight forward win for us.
-
Never seen Millwall play before, I expect they’re a nice bunch.
-
I expect a tight game, and a victory by one goal.
I shall enjoy singing "you're not scary any more"
-

Sheffield United thankfully who are on the slide.

2-0 to the Villa. Adomah & Hourihane.

That’s what I reckon too. They could both do with a rest after a dip since the QPR game
I agree Keinan looks jaded but he’s gonna have to keep plugging away for a while yet. We’ve no other options. Gabby and RHM aren’t going to be ready for a while. And I can’t see RHM starting as a lone striker anyway
-
Grealish and Lansbury did well but are they fit enough to start?
I'd start with the same 11 against Leeds. Also sends a message that theres faith in the 11 who've done well over recent weeks.
-
1-0 win
-
Villa 2 Treatment 0. Grealish and Whelan. Yes, Whelan. Lump on folks
-
Remember the 2.2 first game back in division 1 and the Mcinally wonder goal 3.1 in league cup (was it Rumblowes Cup ?) can’ t recall any trouble at either just great games. Saying that I cannot recall trouble at that many games back in late 80s /90s always seemed to miss it then read all about it in the Mercury the next day ! Anyway go for 3.1 Villa Grealish to score Hurlock them

Hats off to Dublin Villa for the most exact scoreline prediction ever. Can you score 3.1 goals? 😀
-
Keep the run going. Boring 0-0! Bring it on!

Neil Ruddock scored a cracker too in that cup game.
Villa to win 2-1. As a betting man I often back Millwall to win at home, but very rarely if ever back them to win away.
-
I'm going for a 2-0 win to Villa.

WDWLWWWD - If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it.
Not Bruce's biggest fan football wise, but after a year of dross, at least he's getting results with a reasonably settled side, even if the football is uninspiring at times...
-
I'm in Cautious Optimism mode (as ever), so I'm obviously hoping for a win. Given 'wall's raison d'être of being a club who thrive on being eternal battling underdogs (!), I can see them thriving at a fixture that few give them any realistic hope of gaining any points. Consequently, I hope our lot don't just think they have to turn up to get another vital win.
I'll go for a cheeky 2-1 to the Villa; with plenty saaaarrfff Laaaandon 'erbets givin' it the big 'un on their big awayday. No one like's 'em: and they don't care, you see... ::)
-
1-0 Villa; Gabby to score the winner with his beer gut in the last minute

I reckon until Grealish and Lansbury came on, it looked as if it was gonna be broke, so I would start with those 2 for Onomah and Hourihane.

That used to work for MON until March.
I do think he is going to need to work out how to use the squad.
-
keep a clean sheet and we will win easily....

2-0 Wouldn't mind seeing Onomah rested for this one after his last performance. Maybe he needs a rest before the hectic Christmas period.
-
3pts is what is required. The best team starts. If we’re 2 up and looking comfortable by 70 mins then we can consideri resting a few of the starters.
-
Has to be a win really. Be nice to win playing well for a change, but i'll settle for the win since there's not much chance of the latter. 2-0
-
Just realised Cardiff have got the Monday night slot, away to Reading.
Would be an awful time to drop points, get the gap down to 4 points and see what Cardiff do. Reading have picked up recently so would like to think they could hold Cardiff to a draw.
-
We will give them a good doings.
Our support will be frozen into a block of solid ice and will have to move and make noise just to stay breathing. The players won't want to be hanging around fanny dangling either
A brutal 4-1 victory in horizontal sleet.

True, but I don't think it is a case of fixing anything, just a few tweaks here and there.

Shiver!
Would it be wrong of me to hope that the game gets called off?

I'm thinking the same. We don't freeze and our tired players get a welcome rest.
-
Another home game where we are expecting to win. I'm not sure I can get used to this level of optimism.
-
3 points required, 2-0 scoreline to get them, send them cockney twats back down saarrff with naff all.
-
Can't see a clean sheet being kept with Samba having the turning circle of a bus. Villa win however, so Villa > Millwall. yey!
-
Jack to start please, Brucie. 2-1 Villa.
-
Jack will start tomorrow in place of Onomah, i'm sure of it
-
I can't be arsed to start a new thread for this, but how come we seem to attract so much attention in Kenya?

Easy win, no drama. They are horrible, so lets send them back to London unhappy
-

I reckon he might drop Hourihane if anybody. I'll say 2-1, it'll be bastard freezing and they'll run out of cowin Bovril.

1-0 Win

Planning to come up from London for the game tomorrow. For anyone in Brum today - given the weather and forecast do you think there is a risk the game will be off? And would you say its safer to take a train than drive?

No snow in central Brum right now - but f-ing freezing. Forecast is okay I believe for tomorrow dry and sunny and cold - perfect for a couple of beers pre-match at the German Market....
-
It's snowing at the moment.
-
Big decision - risk driving or travelling on a train full of Millwall fans!
-
Hogan and Flabby possibly available for tomorrow: gives us at least a litle flexibility up front if the boy is struggling ...

Either way could end in injury! I'm driving....

At the rate it has been going in Stourbridge I will be arriving via a Husky team.

Not for me.
We already playing catch up with the top 2. We don't want to drop further away, giving them more of a mental edge, and us scrabbling to catch up.
Plus, later in the season, we will have people complaining about us having this play too many games in a short space of time.
We don't need anymore excuses not to go up this season.
-
Just win. Scrappy, don't care.
-
Hogan & Gabby back in training according to Bruce. Good news regardless of what you think of their Villa form. More options can only be good at the moment.

Scooby does though

Work in town and been out there tonight. Roads are fine if there isn't any further snow (which isn't forecast), so you should be OK.
-
What's the weather like down in Birmingham at the moment?
-
What's the weather like down in Birmingham at the moment?
Freezing cold and light cloud with patches of blue sky. Snow on the ground still but roads reported to be ok.
-
Snowing in Burntwood.
-
Thanks Chris.
-
What's the weather like down in Birmingham at the moment?
There was a flurry of snow in the north of the city this morning mate but it has cleared up now. Been out and about this morning and the main roads are fine.
-
Hogan and Flabby possibly available for tomorrow: gives us at least a litle flexibility up front if the boy is struggling ...
Flexibility possibly, goals? Doubtful.
-
It's snowing albeit flakes around city centre so I assume Aston as well. There will not be enough snow to disrupt anything however icy conditions on top of last night's flurry do present a bit of risk.
-
Looks like the Cross City line is cut to every 20 minutes.
-
Maybe it’s bjarnason’s time to shine?
-
Maybe it’s bjarnason’s time to shine?
Decent work rate and found himself inside the opposition's 18yd box frequently which I like to see from midfielders. If he avoided any contact with the ball he'd be the greatest mime artist footballer of all.
-
Is the Germain Market still intact?
-
What's the weather like down in Birmingham at the moment?
I live less than a mile from Villa Park. There's some snow around but it's slowly melting. Should be OK.
-
I would have thought if the match was in doubt, the club would have made a statement by now. Lovely day here in Kidderminster, I'm sure everyone would like to know :)
-
4-0 v the Cockney Knuckledraggers
-
Looks like the Cross City line is cut to every 20 minutes.
Leaf fall timetable still in effect. Last day of London Mids fucking up your day though, the franchise has been sold to the next set of carpetbaggers.
-
C’mon Villa!
-
3-0 to the Villa. Hutton, Conner, Albert. I'm struggling to come up with scorers for us at the moment ;)
-
Hogan and Flabby possibly available for tomorrow: gives us at least a litle flexibility up front if the boy is struggling ...
If we are going to continue with the same formation, I would prefer that latter is on the bench as unappealing as that may sound to some. He would be more effective than Hogan up front on his own, which in itself speaks volumes really.
-

Pedant alert - carved out of the current franchise to create a locally controlled and accountable franchise run by a bunch of carpet baggers.
-
It's bloody cold.
-
Hourihane out for Lansbury, apart from that the same line up. Grealish and Hogan on the bench.
-
One of the easiest runs down here all year so far. Plod making me mount the kerb as they hurtle towards town...
-
Why no match thread?
