Yes and can I just say my first pre match thread and I got the score correct can I do it again please.
-
Good result lads. Well done Albert!!
-
Excellent win. Well done Bert!
-
I thought we were excellent today. Missing key players and should have scored 4 or 5. Shows a Bruce side can play football if they want to and the sort of performance away that gets you promoted. Means we (just) hang on to the coat tails of the automatic promotion places. Corner turned?. watch this space.
-
Possibly because of injuries and QPR's recent home record, I wasn't expecting much. But I have to say that's one of the best recent performances I've seen from us.
-
Good overall performance Villa and bloody good pressing at times Come on the Villa
-
That result with key players out a goal down and against a team that wins most at home gives me real belief that we will be in the reckoning come may
-
Didn't see a win coming there especially with all the injuries. Sounds like it should have been by a lot more as well. Maybe this is meant by Bruce being able to grind out results.
-
Anybody know how Samba played?
-
Excellent result .We really needed this one after Sheffield so really happy with this .. onwards and upwards .....
-
AFter the last fortnight and going 1-0 down I think that might be the best result of the season so far
-
Very happy to be wrong. Sounds like we created a lot of chances. Onwards and upwards.
-
Well played Villa.
Now double the points on Tuesday!
-
Pleased with that after going a goal down especially as QPR seen off Wolves and Sheffield U recently here. Only piked up snippets of the game via Sky, deserved it according to the man at our game. That’ll do for me.
-
Very good result that. We normally start quite slowly after the international breaks, so it's encouraging that we've won today. A couple of home games coming up, so hopefully we can kick on.
-
That win really pleased me, as we had to come from behind to achieve it. Well done Bruce and co!
If only we hadn't fucked up at home to Sheffield Wednesday, we could be making ground up.
-
Very important win coming off the back of Terry's injury and the loss v Sheff Wed. We haven't had too many come from behind wins away from home in recent years. Sounds like a fine performance.
-
Crivens! I certainly didn't see that result happening - especially after going a goal down early-ish doors.
Well done lads & UTV.
-
You’ve all got me to thank for this. I left after 15 minutes. There was someone in my seat when I arrived (with two minutes gone). There seemed to be way more people than seats in the lower tier, and more Herberts than usual. We were playing shit, I was getting rained on and I was in someone else’s seat. As the build up of people standing on the stairs increased I thought ‘fuck this’.
You’re welcome.
-
Well done Villa, didn't think we had it in us.
-
Good win today, and many chances created, same again against Slumberland please.
-
Went for a nap at 0-1 and it all seemed to be going as I expected, what with the injuries and all. Fair play to Bruce and the players for coming back and proving me wrong, that's not been an easy place to get a result.
-
Fair play.....we came back and won !!!!!
-
Fair play, our form in games where we've conceded first was probably the most worrying thing about Bruce and today he's flipped that and we've seen again that if we get men forward and get the ball into the box we will score goals. I've said it plenty of times my major criticism of Bruce has always been that we're far too passive and don't force the game. It sounds like we've done that today.
-

First away win from behind since arsenal in 2013
-
One of the worst teams I have seen us play, QPR were awful and we should have won by a hatfull.
Great result considering who they have beat at home.
-
We turned a corner a number of weeks ago. Confidence is now starting to show in the performances which as ever is the key.
-
the stats make a nice change. 26 shots, basically the same possession as the home side. Dominated most of the game for me.
-
It sounds as though we didn't miss Terry either.
-

You can only beat what's out there. QPR beat Wolves and Sheff U on their last two, so they're no mugs.
-
Well that was a turn up, after pissing around with a duff AVTV and then finding us go a goal down I gave up and fell asleep. Woke to find us 2-1, wonder if I'm just dreaming....
-
For me the best win of the season. We’ve had a tough time with injuries. We came off a defeat and then a very bad goal conceded early on. But the team didn’t fold. We kept coming at them until we got the deserved equalizer. We made QPR look a poor side. They had a good home record coming into this game. This will give everyone a massive lift. Well done to all concerned and to the manger for sending the side out with such a positive mindset.
-
I'd written this one off due to injuries chicken-shit that I am. I know nothing. Very happy to find out that we'd won coming from behind. Well done to all concerned, looking forward to a few pints tonight, they always taste better after a Villa win.
-
6 points in the next two games, which should be achievable, and we really start to cement our place in the top 6, putting pressure on the top 2.*
*Yes. I know I said that before the Sheffield Wednesday game.
-
Brilliant result.
-
After predicting a 0-2 shafting, I am delighted to be proven a complete fuckwit at forecasting. I am very happy for the travelling fans who got to see us come from behind to take 3 points. Hail the mighty Villa and our tuberous talent-tickler in the technical area!
-
Not seen or heard the game; but my instinct think the Kodjia injury could be a blessing.
He’s not looked as sharp this season with his injury and think Bruce has been trying to force him and Davis in the same side to get to a 442
Davis breakthrough was the Norwich home game where we played with 3 in the middle and Hourihane getting close to him which made it work. Don’t think we have 2 players good enough to play with a 2 in the middle so the extra man who can be box to box seems to be more successful
-
Thought that was gonna be a nailed on home win. I'm so happy to be proved wrong. I didn't even worry too much with 5 minutes to go either.
-
Player ratings today ?
-
This is beginning to follow the same trend with a Bruce team in the Championship....promotion, which he's achieved 4 times before. For all the stick he gets the end result is usually promotion.
-
"We’ve come so far in a short space of time. It feels a bit like déjà vu. They beat us here by a goal here last season but I think we’re a much better side now.
"You expect them to be up there. I thought we gave them a good run for their money; on another day, the odd decision here or there.
"It’s fine margins at this level. That was two good teams out there and we were one of them."
Some bitter musings from our old adversary Holloway.

Had forgotten the extra joy of beating him...
That said his prediction last year that got him a load of stick was quite accurate. Small margins indeed.

Thought he expected us to be relegated. Never understood why people liked him - the football equivalent of Nigel Farage. Don't know why, he just is.

Hmmmm, not sure about that.
Our upturn in form and charge up the table coincided with the return of Kodge and scoring or not, he carries a huge threat for us.

It's great, isn't it? :)
-
Just drying out as we got wet at the front but it was worth it.
After the first 20 minutes when we were poor, we got better and better and should've won by more.
Davis played very well as did Adomah and credit to the defenders who improved as they got more used to QPR's route one approach.
We only looked vulnerable when Whelan lost the ball a few times. I was amazed to see Jedinak coming on and getting to everything after what mist have been a massive party in midweek on the other side of the world.
I think Kodjia will be a loss as he gives us great options and is always a threat and it's probably a lot to ask of Davis to keep up that level week in week out.
-
His name is Clarey Blue a Villa Villain always smiling :) always willing ;D
-
Nice. Three points.
-
Nice result to wake up to :) Good job!
-
And the Villa go Marching on, glory , glory Aston Villa
-
The other thing we did really well near the end was time-wasting.
Players walking off very slowly to be subbed, taking 40 seconds to take a throw in, taking ages to take a set piece, all really annoying things when done by the opposition ;)
-

I think I trump that. Checked the match thread as I arrived at the animal sanctuary in Wythall to see posts like 'that's it then' and 'game over' as we went 1 down. Bought a black cat for £75 and by the time I'd got him home we were winning.
You're welcome.
-
yep, as others have said, for about the first time in ages i wasn't worried near the end. Sometimes you give the opposition such a kicking you can tell they don't think they can nick a draw. They got off lightly today imo.
-
Albert the cat has a nice ring to it.
-
Davis bullied them senseless. Pity he didn't score but he went close with his header.
Soft goal to concede but bar that volley in the second half I can't recall them going near our box.
Hourihane was good, as was Snoddy who was fouled left right and centre. In fact the whole side put in a shift and we really should have scored a lot more.

The sacrifices we make for these people, Percy. And do they thank us?

Whatever you do, do not name your new moggy Aston. Back in Feb 2009 I acquired a black moggy and called it Aston. Moscow happended the next month and the rest of our decline is history. I blame the cat who I renamed Bear in about 2013 when I realised it wasnt a coincidence

Exactly, Eric, it does seem that it's always how rubbish the opposition are rather than how good we are

......to cheer his team on to victoreeeeeeeee
It’s a classic.
-
It makes you wonder how good we would be with a fit John Terry and Kodija firing.
-
Didn't see any of the game as was taking my five year old to a party, but from the highlights it looks like a very good performance and we created lots of chances. Happy with that, and happy that that wurzel tosser Holloway has still never beaten us. The half-arsed twat.
-
I feared the worst when I realised we only had one fit striker, and even more when we went behind so this is a great result and sounds like a cracking performance too.
-
A very good win although we should have made it more convincing. Keep it going Brucey.
-
Anybody know how Samba played?
He was poor. It's not only that he's clumsy and error-prone, he doesn't find space like Terry does when we're playing the ball out of defence. Jedinak must be a better option
-
Well done Villa boys and Bruce. First turnaround good job well done.
-
A win after going behind, pleasing!
-
Really pleased with that result.
Feared the worst when we conceded, and when we were so profligate with our chances to get back into the game. But once we equalised we always looked likely to win, and once in the lead we never looked like losing it.
Adomah is on great form.
-
Excellent result and surely all of the credit should go to Dr Xia after he told the players every time they lose he'll give them a smart cities presentation.
-
Can't believe nobody's mentioned how appalling the refs were.
Are we just use to it now?
Great performance though on the whole let's keep it going Villa.
-
Great win. Well done Villa.

I just got a text saying simply 'Thanks' and I think it relates to this, so yes.

That's what I said but he's already called Sampson and the missus won't change it.
-

I thought he was ok. I don't think anyone had a bad game to be honest.

Considering that’s the first start for some time I think he did ok. There was a few times when he seemed to take a while to decide what to do with the ball.
Tough ask for him to play midweek as well.
-
Well done. Fuck off Gollum.
Looking at last 4 games on paper could have expected 6-9 points so 7 is decent enough.
-
At 40 mins, I wasn’t happy and went for a beer, ran back into the lower stand to see the pen and then everything changed 2nd half, very good, well done players manager & fans. I had a great day in London 😀👍
-
Good 3 points. Saturday nights are great when the Villa win!

Highlights (http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/competitions/championship/11132803/qpr-1-2-aston-villa)
Brilliant finish for the winner. Great save from Onomoah too.
Samba (never left ground at front post), Chester (beaten in air) and Johnstone (pinned to his line) were all piss poor for their goal.
Johnstone would want to wise up as every team in this league will try the same approach from now on.
Suffice to say, we would not concede that kind of goal with Terry there
-

It's one of those goals you see when a centre half goes off injured or misses a game and no one takes responsibility in their absence. I think they'll improve over the next few weeks when they get used to each other. That said it's Johnstone's responsibility to take control there and he needs to be louder/braver in making sure everyone knows it.

Easy answer. Buy Smithies from QPR in January. He is a better Goalie than Johnstone.
QPR short of money. MAN U. will over value Johnstone.
-
Samba looks so ungainly which doesn't help but he didn't actually give the ball away, he just lacks Terry's composure.

Er no. SJ best keeper on the league by a country mile.
-
SJ available on a free at the end of the season isn’t he?
-
Excellent win, I really didn't expect it. I hope we can get six more points this week and really build on this.
-
SJ available on a free at the end of the season isn’t he?
Would be great if he signed with us. Surely he will get better offers though.

Thought we would lose this today particularly after going behind so delighted with the win. Two more in these home games and we're really cooking.

Bruce rarely changes a winning team, which is something that, for a change, I agree largely with him on.
-

Agreed. I think it gives players a bit of confidence around the fairness of their selections as well.
-
Holloway said “we just need to capitalise on the chances we created. I’m sure we had at least as many as them, if not more”. Eh? What planet is he on? Stats say we had 26 shots they had 14 🤔
-
That is because Holloway is an idiot.
-
A half-arsed manager that wants to be famous.
-
They had the goal and the volley and I can't recall anything else.
-
A great result earned by a great team performance! Well done Villa. This was a result I personally didn't expect but was so pleased to be proved wrong. Best away result off the season so far.
-
They had the goal and the volley and I can't recall anything else.
The volley is the only thing I can remember from them in the second half anyway. They didn't have too many clear cut chances after the goal.
-

You can prove anything with facts. ;)
Stop press, 'Ian Holloway in talking a load of crap shock'.

Would be great if he signed with us. Surely he will get better offers though.
IF we go up, I think he will stay (nominal fee to Manchester United for development due to his age) . If we don't, I expect he will be at a different premier league club next season. Possibly Arsenal as Cech isn't getting any younger.

I would surprised if Arsenal went for a relatively inexperienced English keeper.

He's a QPR fan apparently so he toned it down a little. He did celebrate at the end though.

Very happy with the win and three points got soaked at Loftus Road but worth it to see us win.
-
Highlights looked very promising. Davis and Onomah looked shit hot. Very powerful. Even Hutton looked good.
-
It's the physical presence that both Onomah and Davis have to go with their ability that makes them a handful.
Hourihane pulls the strings though.

One of our most consistent & committed players for the last few seasons and on great form since he came back into the team a few weeks ago and we still get comments like this?

A bit cheeky...
-
I’ll eat my words over Hutton
I really don’t rate him but he’s been mostly great for about a year now
He even managed to cross the ball to one of our players on Saturday
-
Hutton, lately the springboard to attacks and goals.
-
Davis is going to get a hat trick one of these days
We seem to be counter attacking in numbers and with some real pace.
Samba frightens the life out of me. A new CH in Jan please Brucie as cover for JT
-

I thought he was the one player who could hold his head up high in our relegation season. He showed more fight than most of the rest of them put together.
-
Agree, Damo. Like Snodgrass, his will to win is what is driving us forward. Hourihane, Onomah and Chester do their bit too. We're becoming a team of fighters that will not allow half arsed performances like the majority of last season. Teams are struggling to cope with our drive, energy and determination, we press and fight every ball. Long overdue, still loads to do but it really is the basics for success in this division.
-

Not quite sure who Naylor is though!! We looked good on the break in the clips and Snodgrass looked a lot less laboured.

Good point about Snodgrass. I dont think I have ever seen a player want to play and win as much as he does, every game. I dont know much about him but he sure seems hell bent on making a point to someone. Maybe himself.

That commentator was shit, didnt know the names of half the players leading to long gaps without him saying anything. Is he employed by Villa or are the highlights done externally?
