What has happened to aston villa ? on todays showing you made us look like barcelona ! every time we attacked it looked like we were going to score , so much for the leadership of john terry . i bet you are paying him a fortune too . been reading the threads on here which seem to suggest we are only a long ball team but today showed we are far more than that . we have made some quality signings mainly damour and mendez leng which caused you loads of problems all afternoon with power and pace in attack . what did aston villa offer absolutely sod all . it seemed like we were yards ahead of you in fitness too . on the positive side your fans were excellent and made for a cracking atmosphere . hopefully we will be given 5,000 tickets when we come to villa park . your boss reckoned that was the most embarrassing defeat he had to endure ever in the championship . for those who like a bet put a few shillings on us to go up .
good luck for the rest of the season

Get off my lawn.
-
Thank you for your compliments. But i wouldn't get carried away - if you really have been reading the threads you'll note that we all think we're far less than the sum of our parts.
-
Baaaaaa Humbug.
-
Enjoy your day in the sun, it can change very quickly.
Come back at the end of the season and we'll see where we are then.
-
I feel sorry for you having Neil Warnock, almost as much as I do Villa having Steve Bruce.
Anti football, it does a job, but I'm running down my years. Give me Big Ron, Brian Little or Gregory.
Give me intelligent tactics.
-
After today's showing Cardiff will be points above us come next may.
-
Yeah fair play you twatted us and fully deserved it. 5,000 tickets for Villa Park though? It would take you 4 seasons to shift them.
-
Fair play to you mate, a more comprehensive win you won't see all season.

-
He's absolutely right though isn't he.
-
Right about the Villa maybe, but I wouldn't put a crooked halfpenny on Cardiff getting anywhere near promotion.
-
I'd be gloating... we are a shambles and until the club wakes up to it other clubs supporters up and down the country will continue to take the p*ss.
-
Don't know what your on about, we're all cricket fans. Go Bears, oh shit.....

Cardiff fans love Warnock.
They were bottom 3 when he took over in October, similar time to Steve Bruce.
-
Has he said anything untrue? I hate losing, specially to Warnock but he is a far better tactician than our bloke, at this level at least. Today is yet another embarrassing defeat in a series of embarrassing inept performances.
-
I wouldn't credit Warnock with being a great tactical brain. What he is good at doing is firing players up. Today would have been no different, e.g. "Their fans are ready to turn, they think they've won the division before they've played it, don't give them an inch."
-
Beating us is nothing to gloat about. Well done on the victory but don't read too much into it, Sheffield Utd will be a sterner test for you on Tuesday.
-
A dead chipmunk could outsmart Steve Bruce.
-
Oh you Europeans you are so polite! Thanks for posting however 5000 tickets? You do make me laugh. I think if you bring 1000 that would be some achievement.
-
We're the Sidney Sideparting of this division. Still wearing his public school blazer despite being dumped in the local comprehensive because his dad's money has ran out.
"I really shouldn't be here," we mutter to ourselves, as the local plebs queue up to introduce us to the blue goldfish.
Kudos to Cardiff for being the latest side to make us look third rate. But when titans such as Colchester and Luton Town have been there before you, maybe it's not too much to cream yerselves over.

I'm in a really small minority but I think Warnock is a decent manager. His teams always seemed to be organised, tenacious and gave us a few frights - Sheffield United in 2005 and Palace in 2010 Spring to mind.
-
I think we're more Rigsby from Rising Damp.

He's in the same kind of bracket as Pulis. Get their team working hard, grind out results etc but never in a million years would you want them managing us. We've got one of them in Bruce sadly, only he doesn't grind out results and our players are knackered after 15 minutes.

I hope Bad English doesn't see this post. Looking at the grammar and punctuation along with today's result might tip him over the edge.
-
Trolled effortlessly (and justifiably) by a Cardiff supporter and there's no real answer to him.
What a time to be alive.
-
Their big number 10 is exactly what we need alongside Kodjia. We didn't have an answer for him today.
-
On the plus side it shows we still mean something to other fans. I bet he wasn't on a Rotherham forum a couple of hours after they pumped them 5-0.
-
We're Will from The Inbetweeners.
More appropriate where is his mum?

5 goals, just imagine it would take us a month and a half to score that many

On the bright side, if the season ended right now we would avoid relegation by one place.
My wife has been dealing with a guy through her work who arranges money loans for Villa players. I have asked her to get him to loan them all enough money to f**k off as far away from the club as possible.
You might have guessed I am not in a good mood tonight. I'm going to take a wild guess that I'm not the only one on here feeling that way. I think my wife is hiding all the knives and anything else I can use to harm myself with.
-
Fair play to Cardiff. We've had the rub of the green playing you lot since 2009 but today you completely dismantled us.
We just turned up hoping to maybe get something from the game without showing any real desire or know-how, pathetic!

I'm not sure really.
Surely after all these years we yearn for a manager who can at least put out a team that we know will give their all for 90 minutes, show a bit of quality now and again, be tough to beat, actually attempt to fight back when they go 1 nil down and generally have the sense we're slowly on the path back to respectability rather than just spunking another 50m on new players.
I understand why people dislike Pulis/Warnock style of play but those guys go into multiple clubs and usually without fail turn troubled teams around and leave fans with good memories.
Of course the issue here is I fully expected Steve Bruce to do this here and he has failed miserably.
-
We might as well just have some fun now. My shortlist for next manager would be Ricky Tomlinson as Mike Bassett , Paul Whitehouse as Ron Manager or Roy Race.
I was going to say Barry Fry but that would have just been plain silly.
-
Things are that bad I'd honestly rather have Sherwood back. At least you never knew what was going to happen and he was a character. All our games are the same these days and Bruce and the football on offer are painfully dull.
-
I do wonder what would have happened if we'd have won that Leicester game. Probably lost the next, but that was a huge sliding doors moment for Sherwood.
-
I'd give it Cherie Lungi. She can be manager as well.
-
She will always be the manager of my heart :)
Also I would take Sherwood back today as interim manager over Bruce. Sure he will lose just as much but at least he will have a go and play some new players.
-

This could be a thread of it's own - 'sliding doors moments'. Ron Saunders quitting, Jimmy Rimmer's European Cup Final injury, Doug's return, Tony Barton sacked and Turner appointed, SGT leaving for the England job, Houllier's illness........
-
Glen whelans equalizer.
-
Gary Shaw against Forest, Glenn fecking Whelan, Vidic getting a red, Oxford hold on against Everton in the LC.

I meant to include the Vidic incident in my original post. Maybe also Paulo Rossi in the first minute of the first leg of the QF?

I wasn't raving when we went in for Whelan for a few reasons, but a big one is that I haven't yet gotten over that fucking equaliser.
-

Steady on.

That Vidic decision is still an absolutely wank decision 9 years later, did'nt want to ruin the occasion? Dowd you absolute pussy of a man!

wow didn't realise my post would generate so much interest . first of all i,m no troll and have a soft spot for aston villa for a few reasons . i was so disappointed today i thought it would be close game but to see cardiff walk over you like a knife slit through butter but was really very strange . JT was a bad signing for you and it pains me to say that chester and taylor were made to look ordinary as a welsh fan too after the euro's last season when i was out in france , the greatest fortnight of my life . for the poster that states we would struggle to sell 5,000 tickets well last season we sold 2,500 and we were shyte ! the time we were in the bottom half . if we are in the top 6 by the time we play you we will sell that allocation within a few hours . . we struggle down here with the glory prem fans and rugby but never under estimate the cardiff support base which stretches a 40 mile radius in south wales . you make think i,m mad but your club could do with someone like warnock . well a few more sherberts for me and await the abuse in the morning .lol

Best thing I have heard that your having a few sherbets after beating villa. I am still having them for losing to everyone....drinking happy a lot better!
-
I,M NOT HERE TO GLOAT BUT HERE'S A GLOAT....
-
Again nothing he's said offends me.
-
Fair play to Cardiff, tore us a new arsehole, decent side, bit of pace. Good luck to them.
They'd never sell 5,000 tickets though.
-
He described beer as "sherberts" the man's a monster.
-
It's not too long ago they couldn't pull 5K at home very often. Doesn't matter though as there's zero chance we'll give anyone 5K tickets outside of cup matches.
-
Anyone who starts a thread, "I'm not here to gloat", well you can guess the rest...

Coming from a Welsh family and therefore following Welsh football quite closely over the years, I'm not sure there'd be any club too keen on giving Cardiff a 5,000 allocation to be honest! As for us "needing someone like Warnock", well Steve Bruce was supposed to be that man and look how that is going.
-
He's absolutely right though isn't he.
Yep!!
-
He keeps sneezing at the end of his posts.
-
He can see it. We can see it. Most of civilisation can see it. Undiscovered tribes in the Amazon would be able to see it. Can Bruce?
-
You are pretty accurate in your match summary 'I'm not here to gloat' and lots of other teams' supporters have a soft spot for Villa (usually after they've easily beaten us). Can't believe you are disappointed that it wasn't a close game though- I'd still be in the pub after that sort of win if we had achieved it. Anyway all the best for the season, thanks for prompting a counselling session and let's see how it all goes eh?
PS Pretty civilised responses in the main, given the circumstances - well done H&Vers

Didn't they bring quite a few for a League Cup tie a few years ago?

They did. And I remember when we beat them 2-0 at our place under Tommy Docherty's reign, they were top of the league and brought a massive following.
-
They had the 3rd lowest away support in the league last year with an average following of 849. Suggests they jumped on the bandwaggon to see a big ground when they came to Villa Park.
-
I am not clear about the nuts and bolts of the social media but if we smash Cardiff in the return fixture as I am totally confident we shall, I would like to contribute to Cardiff's fanzine - yes I know not to expect an H and V - with my own I,M NOT HERE TO GLOAT BUT right down to the caps and the comma for an apostrophe.
-
Be fair Brain, English isn't his first language.

In fairness, they've given us loads of tickets even, I understand, moving some season ticket holders to be able to accommodate us. I see that as reason to be grateful rather than an excuse to slag them off for being one of the 91 league clubs that have worse away support than us.

I think it's the 'we'll bring 5k to Villa Park later in the season if given the allocation' comment that means people need to point out that on average they take less than 1/5 of that amount to games. Although at Villa Park I'd expect them to be in the 2-3k bracket.
-
Oh I am grateful that we had the allocation. Looks like Bristol are moving season ticket holders for us as well.
AVH87 had it right, I wasn't slagging them per se, more the bizarre suggestion that they have good away support simply because they come in droves to the best ground at the biggest club in the league, when its dreadful everywhere else.
-

Or its one of their shorter away trips... we tend to forget how centrally located we are..our longest away trip is a lot shorter than a lot of other clubs.

-
Mortgages and the like i'd imagine.

Charles Insomnia obviously needed more than £63k a week for his natty suits. Money well spent.

Such sartorial splendour does not come cheaply.

Sobering thought. If professional footballers need loans to pay a mortgage, what chance do other young people have? Half a million average house price in London. It's obscene.

I don't think that most other young people are spending seven figures on massive, mock-Tudor mansions though.
If they were buying a £150k terrace in Dudley then a professional footballer probably wouldn't need a mortgage.

some interesting replys regarding our away support and support in general . we are nowhere as big as you but don't under estimate the potential we have in south wales . as i mentioned we would sell 5,000 tickets at yours if we are in the hunt for promotion if we are given them . one of yours pointed out you are in the middle of the country so your travel is far less . our closet are bristol city , brum , villa and wolves so with geography in mind would expect us to take more to those 4 grounds . we usually take a big contingent to the likes of qpr and fulham too. on another note we have thousands of plastic prem fans in south wales too and we compete with the rugby . apart from all above the biggest factor for the drop off in attendances the last few years is to do with the rebrand our chairman introduced a few years ago . lots of our fans walked away and never came back when he tried to introduce different club colours , badge and red seats to our stadium basically wipe out our history and identity . i could write a book about it but don't want to bore you to tears .
-
I would be interested in hearing your point of view about it.
-
I'd be interested to read that too. I always liked Cardiff. Even after the drubbing.
-
Only been there twice - had a very good night out in Cardiff, with some mates of my ex Mrs from Barry Island. Don't forget Nessa from Gavin and Stacey sporting a Villa shirt too! Good lads and lasses the Welshies- in the south anyway. Don't get me started on the northern savages! They battered us fair and square and are entitled to large it for a few days in my view.
-
I very much doubt they would bring 5,000 though, wherever they are in the league at whatever point of the season.

just thought i,d pop in and hopefully give me your reports on james chester and Neil Taylor particularly Chester who are in the Wales squad for our forth coming games against Austria and Moldova .Taylor is suspended for us on saturday but i think available for Moldova away next tuesday . I,m a bit concerned as you have leaked in a few goals this season so villa fans are they in good form or not for you ?
and as a side note can't believe 5 out of 5 for us right now , i,m in dream land . so glad we turned over wolves last week what a moaning / whingeing bunch of fans they are and gave QPR a good tuning on saturday too. everything rosy in south wales right now just hope Wales win there next 2 matches to give us a good chance to go to Russia

Taylor and Chester both having a half decent start to the season. Chester & Terry not settled as a pairing yet so that hasn't helped Chester's game. Personally though I like him and he's one of the better centre halves we've had in recent years.
-
Chester's been terrible this season.
At least us going to back 3 will suit him as he's done well in that position for Hull and Wales so should settle him down a bit.
Taylor's been a solid signing for me. No frills solid LB. Trouble is he dosen't offer much as a wing back. It dosen't matter so much for Wales as he has Bale infront of him.
-
Hmm, SHQ, you reckon Bruce will settle with a back three now (or for away games anyway)?

I thought he was terrific against Colchester. He's not quite hit the same form as last season in the league yet though.
-
Colchester is league 2 standard though.
I'm a big fan of Chester but just think the arrival of Terry has unsettled him in a few weeks and he's really struggled in the opening games whereas last season he was very solid for the most part.
-
just back from game thought chester was solid for us tonight . seems to have a good understanding with our captain williams . great 3 points when austria battered us first half so a very happy welsh and bluebird fan tonight . hopefully taylor will be involved against moldova tuesday . much prefer him to ben davies . the beers are going down very well tonight ............

Please beat Ireland. Please.
-
Don't like O'Neill, can't stand that cheat Bale with his shit hair and woeful celebration, and abhor Serbia's tendency to veer into nationalistic hubris.
Hopefully FIFA will find a way to stop anyone qualifying from that group due to lack of bribes, or some such thing.
-
tugby we have to beat moldova first but yes we will try
cardiff is bouncing tonight
