Aston Villa vs Brighton
Championship
Sunday 7 May, 12:00
Villa Park
Good job that I started this thread because I had it in my head that the game was a 1pm kick off
-
Hoping for 442 and a bit of commitment from the players.

Johnstone

Chester
Beckenbaker
Taylor
Jack Amavi
Angela
Hourihane

The Russian / Jack
Hogan
-
Piss on their parade- fuckers fucked 1-0
-
I'm sorry, but can only see 0-3 at least to them.
Also I feel it will be the last time, for a while at least, that we will see the Championship trophy!
-
No Kodjia, no hope of scoring.
-
Bigger dilemma for me than the Blackburn outcome
Beat them and we allow the Barcodes to win the title :-\
I think we will lose without any help as the numpty will undoubtably pick a team to not get beat
Johnstone
Hutton (Yawn)
Elphick
Chester
Baker
Taylor
Gardner (Because he has looked so good in that position so far!!)
Adomah
Hourianne
Lansbury
50 yards (and isolated)

They've been poor since winning promotion and we don't score if Kodjia doesn't. Draw I reckon. Lots of chanting from their six million away fans about the empty patches in our stadium when we should have given them 5,000 extra tickets.
-
Open wide and take it.... Another shit performance ending on a 2-3 goal loss that could of been 5-6
-
Is there a "don't care" option?
-
As we don't do goals, can only see a loss!
-
Our best away performance of the season was Brighton at least for 45mins we looked like a team that knew what they were doing, let's hope this is the best at home and we finish the season with a bit of swagger.
2-1.
-
I can't see past a convincing Villa win with the additional benefit that the Toon Army will allow us, like everyone who loves football, to once again enjoy them as our 2nd favourite team.
-
I really couldn't care less.
-
I really couldn't care less.
That's not the attitude. Get yourself on the Player of the Season thread and spend many hours ruminating over who deserves the biggest pat on the back.
-
0-2 and the first time we have seen a league trophy won after a match at Villa Park, I think.

We secured the 3rd Division Championship trophy beating Torquay at home 5-1 in the penultimate game of the season.
Ex Villain Big Dick Edwards captained and scored for Torquay. Brian Little debuted and scored for Villa.
The team who could no longer catch us and finished second ? Brighton.

1899-1900: we hosted Liverpool in the last game needing a draw to win the league. Defeat would give them the title so a guarantee of seeing the trophy lifted either way. Having won our previous two games 6-1 and 7-1 we finished the job by battering the Scousers 5-0 for good measure.
-
They really need to win this and it's hard to see how we will improve after the poor effort from last week. Also no Koj. 0-2 and good riddance to this season.
-
Unfortunately all I see is another defeat to end the season on another low.

Very much this

It's quite depressing that our best away performance was a draw!

I actually thought the 1st half away at Huddersfield was better and we ended up losing that one!
-
After the clueless, gutless, goal less pile of dog shit that cost me a small fortune to witness last week I feel that the players owe us a decent performance and a win to sign off with. Another dog shit performance and a defeat will see the boos ringing round Villa Park and Bruce treading on very thin ice. Not the end to this season I had envisaged 9 months ago. A solid 2/3 nil victory is the only way this season can end on a positive note.
-
Another disappointing performance and defeat 0-2 roll on next season.
-
I've gone a home loss - we just aren't expansive enough. I can understand the 'solidity' part as we were truly appalling defensively and you don't just turn around that fear, but surely it's the end of the season - give us something to shout about for next year please. We all know there's nothing at stake here.
The gel has melted and run down the drain.
-
I really couldn't care less.
Sad as it may seem, this is my take as well...Bruce or whoever is responsible for turning us into a dour, boring, horrible team with no ambition or attacking intent has killed my enthusiasm...until August anyway.
Never mind the players, I think we need a break...

Same here.
I will be at Edgbaston where I will bring 8 cans of Abbot in my back pack and forego the free plastic cup of chemical piss water for arriving early at VP.
Cheers!
-
I hope and pray for the day Villa are back to playing decent football and aiming for the best. We're a long way off that currently. Away win, fair play Brighton.
-
A drab 0-2 defeat :(
-
The only "positive" is that we should finish 12th, as long as Cardiff dont win. And thats the first time for a while that we have finished (barely) in the top half of a table.
Roll on next season.

I've felt all week this has a 0-4 defeat written all over it.
-
I can't even look forward to getting heroically pissed as it's an early kick off and I am off to give evidence in court the next day.
It's the greatest "meh" I have felt about a game in a long time.
-
In addition to Kodjia, according to the OS, Hutton, Jedinak, Agbonlahor, Green and RHN are all injured and will miss this game.
-
I'm looking forward to it. I have been saying all season that we must visit the Bartons and maybe meet some of the "Faces" on this website. So me and My mate Dennis will be calling in before the game. I was always planning to go but was tempted by the free drink I will admit.
I am wondering who will be there on Sunday. I used to go a few years ago and meet up with H&V people like Ozzjim, Stuart T Swann and Mark Fletcher but I don't suppose any of them still go there. Maybe Amfy and Cheltenham (was He submariner in the past)
I think my last visit was against Man City (I think) when we all got locked out so maybe it isn't good news for the regulars that I am attending again.
I am envisaging just Me and Dennis in an empty pub.
-
If we go into the game like we did last week at Blackburn then it could be a cricket score. Just looking forward to a good day.

Nah. Villa Submariner is my mate but he emigrated to Convict Land years ago. If I turn up (which I likely will) I should arrive at the pub about 10.45am.
-
They'll tonk us. We're shit, they're good.

You may scoff, but finishing in the top twelve would be enough to guarantee that we'd be seeded in the first two rounds of the League Cup, if, by some miracle, we don't get knocked out by some lower-league cloggers in Round One.
Heady days, indeed.
-
I'm buzzing me. Possibly 12th in the Championship. Heady times.
-
Coz the Villa are showing
That the Villa are going
To 12th in the league 12 th in the league 12th in the league
-
Stand up for the top half , stand up!
-
Well you can all take the piss, but I've looked at the prize money for finishing 12th in the Championship, and can confirm it's 36 Green Shield Stamps and a half eaten packet of Spangles.
-
We have never lost a 12 o'clock kick off game😟
-
0-1 Kerrrrrrnockheart (87)
-
We have never lost a 12 o'clock kick off game😟
Is that right mate? What a random fact. I'd be dreading it if Lambert was still in charge.
-
0-1 Kerrrrrrnockheart (87)
Break yer'eart, this club, Tom.
-
I've decided to go on the piss today. Chances of me being arsed to attend tomorrow have just receded significantly.
-
We'll grind out a 0-1 defeat.
-

B-lose 04/05?
-
SHA Home and away 04/05 noon KO. Lost
-
Who cares?
I'd rather Brighton win the league than Newcastle, that's my only interest in the game.
-
So let's hope they both lose.
-
Going tomorrow but the 'couldn't give a shit' before a villa game is something I can't remember feeling for a long time.
-

Oh ok we have never lost a 12 o'clock kick off match when I have been watching in the ground.
-
I am in Perry Barr, met few Albion fans, all quite decent. Please win, Villa, we got nothing to lose so go for it.

That's an impressive record, is it 5 or 6 noon kick offs we have had in the last ten years?
-
Think last game of season v Blackburn a few years ago was 12pm. Met Leslie Nielsen earlier that morning at the the NEC and was definite highlight of the day as we lost. MONs last game too.
-
I'm disappointed. I like the jokes about playing Brighton AND Hove Albion. Because of the disparity of our statuses we don't get this opportunity often. They'll be in a different league next season.
-
Another miserable season comes to an end. I hope for a spark, something to send us into the summer believing that our success is just around the corner, something like a Hogan brace or a dominant performance. Alas I fear the deck chairs are already out. Lose lose tomorrow. Win and it's likely that the barcodes win the league, we'll never hear the end of that. Lose, well, that's just shit.
-
For US-based, it's on BeIN Sports Connect channel 9 for those with a subscription.
-
I honestly couldn't care less. Hopefully Brighton win the League and the sight of them celebrating on our pitch kicks a spark on our club.
-
Deano, I was going to see Leslie Nielson that day but I got lost in Shirley. I am going for a Villa win for no other reason than I am fed up with reality.

Yes, but are you watching in the ground today?
I'll be there today and we've never lost on a Sunday against Brighton when I've driven from Wakefield and had to buy petrol from Sainsbury' s beforehand and had three poached eggs for breakfast without going to the allotment to water first.
So we can't lose.
1-1
-
Nor when I was wearing an oatmeal coloured Craghopper shirt.
So maybe 2-1 Villa win.
-
I think he'll play Gabby up front with Hogan.
-
Great with all those conditions right we can't lose today😆Yes I am going with a 6 year old making his Villa Park debut on his birthday.
-
I think he'll play Gabby up front with Hogan.
That's great as he is planning for the future😟
-
Well he hasn't got much choice other than play the Russian and he hasn't done that much.
-
I think he'll play Gabby up front with Hogan.
Injured apparently. He's made his one cameo and now put back into storage
-
Pravda/People's Daily
Steve Bruce will be without five first-teamers for the clash with Brighton this weekend.
Mile Jedinak will not be available due to an ongoing groin problem.
Alan Hutton will be absent due to two broken ribs.
Gabriel Agbonlahor won’t be fit after going over on his ankle in training.
Andre Green and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy will also be absent on Sunday.
Both Young Lions have reoccurring hamstring issues.
-
I'd like to see Jack playing behind Hogan, and for a change try slipping balls down the channels for Hogan to run onto, rather than either lumping the ball at him from the back or slowly passing across the back until a full back gets forward and misplaces a cross.
-
Hoping we go out with a strong performance. Get us into the summer with a bit of hope Bruce can change so these players can play the exciting attack football they are capable of.
-

Is the correct answer!
Hogan is no classical No 9. Why the feck does Bruce and his "I-don't-do-tactics" treat him like one?
-

Totally agree
Against blues it was terrible to watch, grealish picking up the ball ten yards inside his own half when he needs to be played 30 yards further up the pitch and the endless balls lumped up to hogan
Lets hope bruce sees it
-
Loads of Brighton fans in Stratford this morning
-
There will be an overbearing stench of sun cream.

Because they are crap and should be fired.
-
Already set a new world record for the number of away fans asking me for a copy of the official programme.
-
Who knows, can't see us winning after last week, but you just never know. Think Brighton will want to finish by winning the title, but the nerves will be high so I am going for 0-0 draw.
-
Great with all those conditions right we can't lose today😆Yes I am going with a 6 year old making his Villa Park debut on his birthday.
I hope he enjoyed his 'debut' and remains a Villan for life. My 36 year old son accompanied me today and I well remember him as a seven year old at the Villa as we lost 3-0 to Wimbledon (with his twin brother). We were reminiscing today. Joy and pain, excitement and full days but always, always a Villan.
