Title: Blackburn Rovers v Aston Villa first 11 fans into the ground Pre-Match Thread
Post by: cdbearsfan on April 24, 2017, 10:26:36 AM
Good chance to give some of our youngsters a go. We don't really need to choose eleven players, more risk of one of them getting injured that way. I'd pick seven as practice for our annual attempt to win the Hong Kong 7's.

I also think we should play the kids, but with their boot laces tied together. Oh and a rush-goalie as well, as long as he's blindfolded. I think it'd be good experience for them.

Agreed. No point risking Kodj now and losing him for the whole of next season.I'd like to have a look at Cam that Legion keeps banging on about. Throw him in. Also, my son - 8 in August - is a left-winger who can beat a man for fun and is naturally left-footed. Needs to do a bit more learning granted but I think it mat be the making of him. I'd throw him in as well.

I think we should also give a run out to those two lads who ran onto the pitch yesterday after Gabby scored. The topless lad had a bit of pace about him. Call it a trial if you like.

I dont think we'll lose because of Blues, I think we'll lose anyway as they'll be desperate and we've been in auto pilot mode since Burton.

Ewood Park was my first ever away game in 1995.

This Saturday I'm taking my lad there for his first ever away game (he's 6), will be fun explaining to him why we're celebrating Blackburn goals.

I like the fact he attempted to RKO the Blues player, completely missed but he just got up and carried on, clearly has character this lad!

The tactic should be to punt the ball up the field for Hogan to win the aerial battle he did so effectively yesterday.

Ashley Westwood's imaginary friend should get a game.  The one he always used to point at and pass to.  And I think some of our celeb fans could do a job.  David Cameron on the right wing,  Spizz and Nigel Kennedy left field, John Taylor on Bass, Tom Hanks can be the BIG man at the back,  Future King Billy as Andy Lochead and Mervyn King as the keeper of the goal.

I had already lined up Stephen Hawking for a Villa trial.  Bloody inconsiderate of him to croak just when we need him.  How can he write about The Meaning Of Everything when he has not lost away to Blackburn and relegated Small Heath?  My Plan B was Ivor Powell ex Villa skipper.  Took Rhyl to Wembley aged 99.  Another big disappointment opting for being brown bread when needed.

Due to their GD, Huddersfield need 2pts to secure a play off spot so I can't see them leaving it to the final game of the season...a win against Blose and they will have secured their playoff spot. I can't see Blose getting any kind of result against Huddersfield, so it comes down to what we do against Blackburn and then if Blose can get a better result than Blackburn (and may be Forest) on the last day of the season.

I like the look of that team apart from Richards and Elphick, they would be an embarrassment to the shirt.

My son could play, he plays wide right midfield, good eye for a pass and has a few tricks up his sleeve. His mate could come along who plays in his team, he tends to either not maker any runs or blasts any chances hopelessly high and wide.

Bugger. Shows how little attention I pay to the top of the table to notice they've got a game in hand vs Wolves...the one shred of consolation is that Huddersfield may still want to finish as high as possible as they will be in with a good chance of finishing 3rd if they beat Wolves.

I think we should play De Last at RB, only way he can get match fit is if he plays. Also get a few of the Villa ladies on the subs bench, for equality and all that.

This could be one of the funniest things ever

I remember Man city where we fucked about, conceded a goal and then Curle had to catch the thing to give us a pen

And the City fans cheered us on that day - brilliant
They had a banner wishing us to win the league.

A banner at Blackburn??

Without wanting to politicise this of course it is, there are plenty of examples of it.

On topic I'd rather see Bruce take this as an opportunity to do something about the performances than anything else.  If that means we win and Blues stay up then so be it.  The most important thing is us being ready to ensure promotion next season.  When we're comfortably in the top 2 none of us will care if the blues are stinking out the bottom half of our league or the top half of the one below.

Needs a bit of tweaking:

So the team so far

Bannan

The McGregor statue
Richards
Elphick
Legion

Topless Lad from yesterday
other lad from yesterday
Mad turnstile operator woman in the North Stand
My 7 year-old

Cam
Wolfie

Can we fill in the blanks to make sure we pick a team fit for the game and the occasion?

I like the look of that team apart from Richards and Elphick, they would be an embarrassment to the shirt.

My son could play, he plays wide right midfield, good eye for a pass and has a few tricks up his sleeve. His mate could come along who plays in his team, he tends to either not maker any runs or blasts any chances hopelessly high and wide.

You could play too Chris, throw the kitchen sink at it. Or did the kitchen sink go too?

*checks she didn't take that as well*

The reality is we cannot play a seriously weakened team. It undermines the integrity of the game and risks a heavy fine from the League.
Therefore, the team should just park the bus. I'd suggest Knutsford Services.

However, what price the saving of the unwashed by beating Blackburn and being able to be their saviours? I think that has even more turmoil in their little heads. the Vile saved us.

I fear that if the last two games produce a bit of pig lipstick for a truly horrible season, it would make the forensic rigour we need to apply to the matter of sorting out long standing, deep rooted problems a bit harder.  Suppose Gabby got a couple goals in the last two games.  He would get a further contract extension.  I don't want us to play badly, I want those in charge to see the team for what they are, a mid table Championship side in need of massive, sustained improvement.  I have seen nothing in the last four games including last Sunday's hugely enjoyable panto, to suggest that improvement is at hand.

it would be quite funny to watch the away fans cheering on the home team, but I hope we don't. All the shit we sling at Blues for being small time and obsessed with Villa wouldn't wash anymore. Fans and players need to at least go through the motions and not give them any ammo to take the high ground. If we lose and they go down great, but at least if we win and that result becomes necessary for them to survive, we can lord it that they depended on our charity to stay up. I'd be gutted if we looked like we wanted to lose, lost and then they stayed up regardless.

Of course that is the ideal scenario and if we were given the benefit of hindsight then it's what we'd all prefer. But, as we do not, just to make us more comfortable a 3-2 defeat with an outrageous penalty decision going Blackburn's way with the last kick of the ball isn't the worst way to lose.

Couldn't agree more Brian.
We undoubtedly have a better squad of players than we did in December but I see very little in the way of improvement as a team and cause for optimism regarding automatic promotion.

This is Bruce's best chance to try anything new, or to experiment with ways of bringing Hogan into the game. If we lose he'll never have a softer and more sympathetic response.

ISn't RHM still injured. If Green isn't get him on the left and partner Gabby with Hogan. Hourihane and Lansbury in the middle and Grealish playing in the 10 role (as i like to call them). Why not try it? But just as a back up the back 4 should be Bedeau - Elphick - Richards - Amavi.

I don't know what you're all going on about, no need for old players / kids / stewards / forum members etc. Just rest Kodjia and Chester and keep Hogan isolated and the rest can be as you were. A thumping 3-0 defeat piling pressure on the noses and their charming new manager.

Am I the only person wanting us to win? ..maybe I am but 'm going and don't especially wish to see another abject away day.

If it turns out that most of a massive 8000 following want us to lose, then we really are  in danger of becoming as self obsessed with Blues as they have been with us for so many years.

I want us to win but should we lose it wont ruin my weekend like it normally does when that happens. Win it and win next weekend and in style is what I would like.

I just think it's funny that they're (Blues) sweating on us not turning up, and many of us are treating the game so lightly.  That in itself is worth travelling up there.

You're right Des,  it must be churning them up inside knowing that they need us to win.
But, their mentality would be they'd rather go down than want us to win.
Like you I find this really funny.

refreshing to enjoy goals going in. Can you imagine what it'd be like if The Shit are losing and Blackburn score a last gasp winner? We'll give them a celebration they won't have seen since Anfield in the mid 90s.

Very much this. From London, I appear to be going through every Northern mill town at some point on a nine hour train jaunt. And I honestly don't care whether we win or not. I'd happily take a 4-3 either way.

It's hilarious. There can't be another club in the country that hate their local rivals as much as they hate us. They live and breath claret and blue.

If there was no small heath we'd carry on exactly the same apart from there being a bit less to laugh at in the world. If there was no Aston Villa they'd be lost. They'd have no reason to wake up, no purpose to their lives. Some of them obsess more about Villa than I do.
