Rumour we're to get 8000 tickets for this one. It's come from Twitter so I don't know how true it is. Have they given that many tickets to away clubs before?

Didn't we take that kind of number up there for the LC semi under MON?
-
I saw that aswell. Apparently we have allocated the whole Darwen End and Blackburn ST holders in there will be relocated to accommodate us.
-
It says on Blackburn website that they have given us the whole Darwin End. It doesn't say if it top and bottom. Bournemouth Lions are running a minibus, I think 12 of us booked so far. Should we a great turnout and could be a very important game for both teams.
-
We usually have a good turnout for our last away of the season so I wouldn't be amazed.
That said, I know they're only from a small-town, but they're still a massive club and it must be a bit disappointing for them if they can't attract 24,000 of their own fans for a crucial game against the biggest club in the division.
-
This will be my 6 year old sons first away game, all being well.
-
Took about 7k in 2009 when we won 2-0 and went third.

Really? They've never averaged higher than 30k in their history, I don't think they were ever likely to be getting a gate close to that when they are at the bottom of the second level.
-
We'll get 6800, the same as Newcastle and Leeds got. The stand holds 7500+ but with segregation, netting first rows off etc you end up with 6800 tickets.

We took 5.5k then. They gave us half of the lower and all of the upper, they were stubborn and wouldn't give us the whole end. They insisted on having their own fans in the other half of the lower. The attendance on the night was 18,500 meaning they only had 13,000 there, pitiful. It was annoying as we could have sold 10,000+. They then brought 2000 to the 2nd leg despite only being 1-0 down.

Which are you querying? If it's the bit in bold, I don't consider size of crowds to be the sole indicator of a club's largesse. That's a bit of a weird Newcastle-type argument. They've won ten major honours, the same as Newcastle and more than Leeds, both examples of clubs who are generally regarded as being big by the media.
Judging what you've written, you seem surprised that I've suggested they could get close to 30k. Given that we've, apparently, got anything up to 8,000 tickets that doesn't seem unreasonable to me. It's only 22-23,000 home fans. And teams near the bottom are more likely to attract big crowds, as a rule, than mid-table clubs as it matters more.
-
Anyway... if anyone isn't going, can I have your reference please?
-
Apparently we aren't taking the full allocation up front. 3,500 thousand up front and can take the rest if there is demand.
Of course there is the demand. Why do Villa mess about when they know the allocation will sell.
-

We've got an initial 4000, which I'd guess is the whole of the lower tier. Then I'd say the extra 2800 will be the Upper tier.
-
Is the lower tier under shelter? I can't remember where I sat when I attended.
-
I've always seen Blackburn as having similar support to Bolton.
Even when they were doing well in the prem there were getting 25k in a 30k ground. In fairness it isn't the biggest place and I can understand them protesting at their owners who aren't the best to put it mildly.
We'll sell the full 7-8k I reckon.
-
Just had a look on Twitter, Leeds had 6900 for Blackburn and sold 6400. Newcastle had 6850 and sold out.
-
No trains from Wigan to Preston on the 29th, boo. I'm thinking of going via Manchester to Bolton then getting a bus to outside the ground.
-

Because they might not sell. A couple of defeats, including one the week before, demand slumps accordingly and we could be left with a bill of fifty grand.
-
They'll sell easily, tbf. Last away game of the season always goes well.

We may well be playing for something really important too. Believe.

Pretty sure there's a train to Blackburn from Victoria, also stops at Darwen which isn't too far from Ewood.

The massive club line surprised me the most, I've never even considered them big. 3 Trophies in the last 100 years (used that timeframe as Leeds have only been formed 98 years), Leeds and Newcastle have both won more than double that in that time and have far bigger fan bases and glass ceilings imo. They really don't have the fan base to get close to 30k for a Championship game, nowhere near.
-
If there's 17,000 on the gate I'll be surprised.
There's no way they're going to get an extra 10k on.
They're a small provincial club.
-
Has anyone found a decent / affordable way of doing this by train? I can't see anything for less than £55 return, and that's taking nearly 3 hours each way with two changes.

Only counting recent trophies is a very Small Heath way of doing things.

I believe we sat in the upper tier, think there was a roof over our heads though.
Seem to remember Cuellar almost scoring a cracker.
-
Up date on train situation there and back. (track from Wigan to Preston closed from 11am on the day of the match.
if you get to Wigan by 11am then you will still Preston. On way back there is a train from Blackburn to Manchester Victoria (takes just over an hour) and its only a 15 min walk back to Piccadilly. Alternatively, for me its easy train from Blackburn back to Preston and then a rattler to Ormskirk where I can catch a train back to Sandhills and then to Bootle.
Anyone living east of Birmingham can also get a train from Blackburn back to Leeds and down the east coast line.
-
Has anyone found a decent / affordable way of doing this by train? I can't see anything for less than £55 return, and that's taking nearly 3 hours each way with two changes.
Splitting it as Brum - Man Pic / Man Vic - Blackburn gets it to £46 return. There's free buses, the metro, or a good walk between the two stations in Mancland. Still thinking the number 1 bus from Bolton's the best way as I'm a lazy bugger and it stops outside the ground.
-
Blackburn has a population of @ 100,000 so a home turnout of 20k is pretty good when compared to...

Before Jack Walker arrived, they were a classic 8K home gate kind of club. They've got a fair amount of history, but I wouldn't ever say they were a big club. They timed things just right with the Jack Walker cash when £5m would still buy you the best player in the league, but unless they get rid of Venky's, they're looking like they're pretty well stuffed these days.

Lower tier being sold first then.
-
one of the few stands where the lower tier view is actually better than the top tier.
-
Gave Blackburn a call Tuesday with regard to disabled parking...not wheelchair user but a struggle ...charged me a tenner...wasn't expecting that much, £5 maybe.
Car Park B where all the away coaches park.
So parking available if required.

Is it just me, or is it harder buying online from the OS. Been waiting two hours in a queue for tickets. Surely the demand isn't that big?

Any indication at this stage whether we'll get the rest of the stand?
-
Any indication at this stage whether we'll get the rest of the stand?
Depends on what time the steamers turn up in their mobility scooters all the way from the Windsor. Foxes boat race will scare most of them ugly fucker
Seriously villa are doing the same as Wigan away waiting for the initial allocation to sell out before reordering which is a bit strange as the club have already indicated they would like the whole end
Villa urrrg so frustrating sometimes
-
It's pretty annoying for those of us who want to get the train, it just means by the time we have confirmed our tickets, the cost of getting there will have increased massively.
I've said before I don't see why away tickets shouldn't be on sale at least a month in advance of the game.

Couldn't agree more. I suffer this continuously travelling from the nw to villa park and any always I can do can't book too early re fixture switches
-
Anyway... if anyone isn't going, can I have your reference please?
If it comes to it, and I decide against it, you can have mine. Sure it will get to general sale though.
-
I'm sorted for a reference now, cheers.
-
Anyone know how they're selling ?
Hoping to pick up a few from 5 tonight

When i went down yesterday the lass behind counter was saying uptake wasn't brilliant....due to people expecting the additional tickets and that people were waiting
so could buy tickets together as the number of references required reduced. She didn't give any indication how many sold. I was only one in TO if thats any barometer.
-
Trying to get a ticket: the website won't offer me the chance to buy 'cos I don't have 15+ away games under my belt; the phoneline is always busy.

Same here, the rotters. SNAFU on the website?
-
Still not updated the website, supposed to be on sale to just season ticket holders from 5 PM!!
-
I got three tickets, so if you were struggling with the website, it seems to be working now.
-
I had issues buying off the website as well. It timed out while processing the card payment. Had to ring the bank to check that it hadn't gone through before trying again later. Fairly sure the club has it in hand but they need to sort the site out. Would take so much pressure off the phone lines if the online ticketing process was more reliable.
-
On general sale now
-
How many we sold?
-
4300 sold out. The extra 2600 are now on sale.
-
Has anyone found a decent / affordable way of doing this by train? I can't see anything for less than £55 return, and that's taking nearly 3 hours each way with two changes.
There is a loophole via Manchester from Birmingham for about £30 return - PM me.....

That's a lot of tickets in one day.
-
800 tickets in a day for a game a week away and has just gone on general sale doesn't strike me as a lot. About what you'd expect for the last away.
-
I think it might just about sell out if we beat Small Heath. If we lose then no chance.

If anyone knows anyone in the armed forces, or is in the armed forces themselves, that needs a ticket for this they can have mine for free.
I'll even pay postage. PM me.

Pubs for train people at Blackburn - by the station you have the Engine Room and not far on the main high street weatherspoons. Have got in both before pre-match.
Its quite a walk from the station to the ground. Not too bad on way back as there is a pub half way on the bridge.
-
Anyone travelling from Banbury/Bicester with a spare seat in a motor please let me know. Asking for a friend!
Cheers
-
Is it sold out yet?
-
5600 sold, 1300 remaining. It won't sell out.

Do I really have to make at least two changes to get back to Brum on a train after 6?

The way I looked you do. Preston and Manchester is my route. Just one change at Preston on the way there.

Thought so ta.

Joe C is getting a bus then a train so you could look into that possibility.

Thinking it might have to be the official coach , usually I'd get a lift with my pal but he can't go Blackburn or get the train but the trains look like a proper head ache 😔.. wanted to get to the fernhurst nice and early as well 😬
-
Fernhurst is no longer now a hotel!
-
Think the Aston Social usually run a coach to Villa away days.
Never done it myself though.
Imagine it would have the edge over the official coach in that it won't get to the outskirts of Blackburn at 11am and then park up in a service station for 3 hours to make sure you can't enjoy yourself.

Fernhurst is no longer now a hotel!
Hate to disagree with you but as someone who drives past Ewood Park and The Fernhurst on a daily basis, I can confirm that The Fernhurst is most certainly still a pub that serves food. Whether it will be open to away fans after the last trashing by morons masquerading as Villa fans is a question that I cannot answer. I'll try and pop in during the next 2 days and report back.

Had some epic times in the fernhurst , partying , drinking and celebrating , newest dilema for me ... missed the official travel , giving up on the train situation , my mrs says she will drive up if i book a hotel ! Obviously the lads have all booked out the hotels in Blackburn because the closest/cheap hotel I can find now is in bastard Preston 9 miles from ewood park ! :o :o ... The lads dropping out meant I've left it all to bastard late !

As a gesture of goodwill the club should give the remaining tickets to Gabby's kids - that should take care of the rest of the allocation i.e. - 900 :)
-
Has tickets been sent out yet, booked mine on the 15th and still not come, surely they should have by now??
-
Any tickets purchased before 3pm tomorrow will be posted out. The club might be waiting for that deadline and then posting them all out together.
That being said I purchased on the 12th and got mine within a couple of days through the post. On that basis might be worth calling the ticket office.
-
I've got mine a while ago.
-
Booked mine last Friday evening online and they arrived in the post on Wednesday morning.
-
Thanks, I'll chase them up early doors today
-
I can't make it now so have 2 tickets going free to any h&v member that joined before this message was posted. If you're quick I can post them 1st class otherwise you'll need to collect from Leicester or catch me at Birmingham airport on Friday evening.

Have sent you a PM rjp, but if they're gone then I'm definitely on the look out for a spare.
I'll be travelling up from the Northants area, so could also help with a lift up, but not back as I'll be getting the boat home after.
