Just under 2,000 is the maximum there nowadays - it's all Newcastle and Leeds got too. Forest sell the other half of that end to their own fans now.
We took more to the two pre-season friendlies in recent years.

I remember going there about £20 odd years ago and being aghast that they'd charged us £20.00 for a ticket.

But shame on them for giving us a measly ticket allocation. We gave them about 30% more. Even worse when they never get close to selling their ground out.

Where Forest are concerned my first reaction is to blame the police.

Their away allocation is about the same percentage of their capacity as ours is. I never get why people think we should be given more tickets than everyone else that visits a ground. Maybe as we rarely sell out we should just give away a load more tickets to the opposition if they can sell them?

We can't do much given the restriction on the area where we put away fans. They could give us the whole stand behind the goal, they never fill their ground anyway.
FWIW I'd be quite happy for us to increase the number of away fans allowed into Villa Park, with the exception of glory hunter clubs as we shouldn't be encouraging would be Villa fans to support those scum by making it easy for them to get away end tickets.

I'd like the away fans in the Witton corner near the Holte. Not possible to get them out without issues, but it would make the atmosphere a bit spicier.

I've always said that, away fans would leave with a different impression of VP. They would actually be able to hear the Holte properly, there would be more 'banter' and it would liven the Holte up in general. It happens at other grounds where you come out amongst the home fans, but I could never see the police allowing it with them coming out next to the Holte.

The small allocation, I've heard, is because their ground didn't pass a specific safety test.

Can see a fair few Villa going in the home ends if they put their tickets on general sale.

Well we tried it years ago in the cup against Man. United and it was a disaster...pitch invasions after every goal.
Just not worth the risk with the close proximity to the Holte. It would make more sense to give away fans who want more tickets at VP more of the Upper Witton.

Not really. They had the North Lower and all down the Witton Lower. Them getting on the pitch wasn't anything to do with being near the Holte.
Wolves had the same allocation in the quarter final in 95 and there was no issue.

I've always thought that people that like a bit of banter (myself included) would gravitate to the upper Witton next to the away fans. I know last years cup game with the poor relations was good up there, just seems the natural place to be for that.

No, I got mine on Wednesday evening. Sound they went on the second day on sale. I was asking for a friend in this instance.
