OK if we are get anywhere this season we need to start winning away on a regular basis. Tomorrow would be nice to start.

These next two away games are vital to win if we want to push for the top six.
Would take 4 points though.
One win in ten aways so far not good enough.
Got a good feeling about this.
1-0 Villa.

Hoping for a win but i'd take a draw. They've only lost twice at home and part of the reason they've been on a crap run recently is 7 of their last 11 league games have been away.

No trains in my part of the south east tomorrow, so it's going to be a long drive to Naaaaridge. I expect to be rewarded with a 2-1 Villa win.

One of my favourite away games was when we beat them in a quarter final replay in the 80s. Sutton Lions Club coach, singing 'The Bells are Ringing' non-stop for 5 hours all the way back to Brum.

The last London train out of Norwich is 10pm. So whatever the score, I'm expecting about 20 minutes of injury time.

Tough game on paper and I really hope we can get a positive result but I fear a narrow defeat and more anguish away from the newly found fortress that is Villa Park...

Norwich have annoyed me ever since Robert Rosario banged in an equaliser at the Holte End to make it 3-3 back in April 1990. My dad was with me at that game and he said "Villa just lost the title". QED.

3-4

I've had a feeling for a while we're going to win this one. We've not got bad record there and they're not in the best of form.

0-3. Kodjia with two and Jedinak.

There was the 4-1 with Benteke's overhead kick.

We then collapsed 4-1 against Stoke the next week on tv.

Edit: the one with Kozak was a 1-0 win, which I recall listening to on the radio the day after I turned 21 being unable to move.

One of the best away performances (4-1) and without doubt the noisiest away support in recent years was a tuesday night December match at Norwich in the League Cup four years ago.
I'll be driving east tomorrow afternoon hoping for the same, apart from the fog hopefully, and the fact we're taking a third of what we took that night, and that there'll be no Delph or Benteke, or Mark Bunn in goal for them.
Oh well, 0-0 then.

1-1 Brady, Kodjia.

Two evenly matched sides, but they are probably more of a settled one than us.

Would like to see Baker back and Jack start. Need to be on our toes for this one, because it could turn into a tonking right quick.

They're on an awful run.

I'd like Bacuna to come into the midfield with Jedinak. I guess it's Westwood's turn for a stint index there too.

Kodjia up top, with Adomah and Grealish wide. Same back five as the weekend unless Baker is fit.

IIRC we took just under 3K that night. Not bad for a midweek jaunt to Norwich in mid Dec even if it was a QF. It was actually 4 years ago yesterday.
Then we won 3-1 at Liverpool a few days later, had drawn Bradford in the semis, were on a run of something like 2 defeats in 12 which were to the Manc clubs, what could possibly go wrong!

Think we'll sneak the win. Bad vibes at Norwich at the moment.

definitely need to shake things up personnel wise. None of our forward options look in any kind of consistent form, though Grealish will have to start again.

Might be his first start under Bruce away from home?

Oh and Gardner has to be dropped

Norwich will be very nervy so first goal will be crucial

--------------Gollini
Hutton, Elphick, Chester, Amavi
Bacuna, Jedinak, Westwood/Tshibola, Grealish
---------McCormack, Kodjia

Ayew, Gabby, Adamoah, Baker, Cissokho, keeper, Gardner

The bit you should have already read:

I know that in this league there’s a load of midweek matches so we were always likely to be playing in the middle of December. I also know that for every club at home there has to be one away. That doesn’t stop a fatwah being issued on whoever it was that stuck us in Norwich, midweek, two weeks before Christmas. Then again, we did it in the League Cup five years ago and that didn’t do us any harm. I suppose we’ll have to sell all our tickets again, just to prove to everyone else what we know already. Last time I looked Norwich were reckoning they were a bigger club than us, based on such hard evidence as not having another club, or indeed civilisation, within an hour’s drive. It made them happy, which is nice. They’ve still got Wes Hoolahan, although you’d hope that by now he’s got used to the idea that he’ll not be signing for us.

Another one of the hardest games so far this season and another one where a draw will be a good result. It’s also another one that we’re perfectly capable of winning.

Things newfooty fans don’t know – Why Delia Smith’s got a bit of a reputation for slurring her words. It was eleven years ago - no, I don’t know where the time’s gone either,

The QF was the first away game I attended on my own. Having had business in the vicinity, a stay over was a good choice, catch the game, a few beers, you'll always meet decent people Villa fans and Norwich in that great pub which I should remember but can't... before and after and which I've been to since with mates who thought it superb too.

I'll be in Glasgow wishing I'd planned better. I really like Norwich.. the place.

I do too. The ground is tidy, the locals are friendly and respectful, and they roll over for a battering when it's taken 4 hrs plus to reach there, which is very considerate of them.

1-3 often do well at Canary road. Can see a change of ayew to bench and Westwood in. Play on break and then dominate .
Greakish in role by Kodja up top. However I see Bruce would play gestede on these away matches

From a Norwich forum:

Quote
On recent form we are the worst team in the league with the 3rd worst defence
Of the teams we have played, we have not beaten any team currently above 14th position
Villa & Huddersfield are both above 14th and that's before they've played us
We won't beat either

They're counting down the days to sacking their manager, they have little belief their players care and if we get in their faces they'll collapse. It's ours to lose.

Looking for a decent London boozer that's showing the game but it clashes with Everton v Arsenal on BT so it may be a mission. Any ideas? Usually when we clash with other games I go to that big sports bar in Farringdon but fancy something a bit more personal. Think someone mentioned on here before that there's a Villa-fan who owns a pub in Islington?

Olof's Beard should also be in attendance in case you want to dance like a funky gibbon with him.

Looking for a decent London boozer that's showing the game but it clashes with Everton v Arsenal on BT so it may be a mission. Any ideas? there's probably quite a few. just google for a sky sports pub and then double check they aren't a BT pub and they will be showing the game?

Not sure, I think if we start on the front foot we can take advantage of their lack of confidence and get a result, if we start slow and let them control the game I think we will lose.

Something I noticed today was that of the 13 clubs above us we've only played 3 of them at home meaning in the second half of the season we will have some easier away fixtures and the chance to win some ''6 pointers'' at home against play off rivals.

This Christmas period is vital to us right now to stay in touch.

A quick nose on their forums suggests these are shitting it about the match. Start well and it's an away win.

This.

We need to be like Vulture's at the start. Then we can sit back and chew on the remains in the second half.

I am contemplating chewing a burger at the Stourbridge cup match!

Agree with you (and me) though. Fast start and this could be more comfortable than we expect.

Let's hope SB gets us to go at them as against Brighton and not be negative like v Leeds. We look far better when we're on the front foot

Yep, I was working with a Norwich fan yesterday who told me it was a good time to play them. He wasn't confident at all.

ANorwich win it is then....or 1-1. We're good at that score. Our away record is still dross so I would be pleasantly surprised with a win.

Gabby and Ayew on the flanks then, lets hope we can beat them with pace. Hopefully we start on our front foot and keep going at them.

Tshibola not even in the team tonight, Bruce must not rate him at all.
