Not sure wether it's been posted aready but there's a very interesting interview with Stan by Graham Hunter. I downloaded on to my phone but you can also hear it here:

It covers his whole career and I especially enjoyed the parts about his early years. We all know what an inspiritaional man he is and that comes across very well in this piece.

He said that he wasn't given a chance and it hurt him a lot. Looking at the probems in our midfied, I do wonder whether there cold have been a place for him.
He said he's doing his badges and that he would like to get into management at some pont in the future.

I feel for Petrov. But more because I can't be arsed hearing what he has to say anymore. Well done and its great that you beat your illness but whining about not being given a chance is too much. Like it or not but we're not a charity. We gave him a chance and he is clearly nowhere near being at the right place needed to be given a contract. That he allows the club to be looked at from outside as being the baddies in all of this smacks of a lack of gratitude for what the club have, or would have done for him and his family, throughout his illness.

I think the fact that he has given up on the dream of returning to playing shows that the correct decision was probably made and, as disappointed as he was, he should realise that given time. Worth considering getting him involved in the coaching side, maybe with the under 21s or 18s or something

Great bloke, his son plays football with mine
Keeps himself to himself and lets his lad play, a lesson for some parents out there!
However I watched him play on a Sunday morning back in October this year.
Much as I want him to be a player again the sad truth is he won't,
He was carrying a lot of weight (for a professional anyway) looked slow and wouldn't cope with the speed of play in the professional game in my opinion on what I saw
Time for him to move on
Hope he stays in football though

Petrov’s illness was a personal tragedy, his recovery with his life, good news.
The fans, game, media and club, rallied around commendably.
But he is a professional sportsman. A hired hand. Someone who earned well out of the game. One of the reasons they are paid so well is that time is short for most pro -footballers, it’s part of the deal.
I was never a fan of him as a player, a fine man though. If you look at my historic posts, I described him as vastly over rated, and lucky to have played in a team that enabled him to play in it.
The Midlands conurbation is awash with clubs at every level of the football pyramid. That no-one from PL West Brom, to non league Stourbridge, has felt the need to secure his services is the story, not that Villa have not employed him.
Obviously, I wish him well personally.

If he has, that means he either lacks belief in himself or the money was not good enough, sad either way.

That's what I was getting at with the former comment. However, the comments were in response to the previous post and, personally, I do not think he received any offers to take him on.

Good enough to come on as sub for Westwood/Gardner and we'd hardly notice.
