For these games [Barnsley and Preston], neither of them exactly a short trip, Villa have sold getting on for ten thousand tickets. In terms of tickets, travel, sundry expenses and time off work the cost of this awe-inspiring show of loyalty will be the best part of a million pounds, to watch a team that haven’t won away for fourteen months
Worth quoting.

Great article Dave, especially about the loyalty of our away support.
-
Good read Dave.

My only objection is describing them as winnable games. With all we've been through with this Villa incarnation over the past few years, the team has not yet earned the right to have any of its fixtures denoted as winnable!
At the moment, we have at least progresed far enough to describe games as maybe "not losable".

Don't worry, it's actually only 13.

On a glass half full and positive note this latest draw, if my research is accurate, means it will be the first time Villa go into October unbeaten in league games at Villa Park since the the 2010/11 season. Six long dreadful years.
Perhaps an encouraging step in the right direction and one that can hopefully built on.
Newcastle had not drawn a league game before Saturday. Barnsley have yet to draw a league game this season.

Spot on again Dave, another good read.

Agreed, a good read Dave

And yet, if most managers in this league were offered a blank canvas and 50m to assemble a squad of players along with free transfers and academy products to get top 10 and win these two games, most would back themselves

Good post but it's all about Villa, no news on The Beat?
