Aye Up ! September 1971. Midweek game at Oakwell in the 3rd Division.
8,387 managed to push bike over cobbles carrying a loaf of Hovis to see Villa win 4-0. Two goals for Chico and two for my hero.
Happy days.

My only trip was the FA Cup in 1995. Yorke and Deano scored and police dogs snarled at Steve Staunton every time he took a corner at one end of the ground

Without checking - I seem to remember a 2-0 home win against them that season.

Away games from the 3rd division I remember, home games I sometimes have to check.
I checked this and you were right. Jan 72, 2-0 Rioch and Lochhead, 30,531.

Been there 4 times - each of our last 4 visits and we won the lot.

1988 - 2nd division, won 3-1 most memorable for a great chip from Birchy.
1990 - 1-0 in the League Cup
1995 - 2-0 in the FA Cup
1997 - 3-0 when they spent their one and only season in the top flight.

I think they've had more seasons in the second tier than anyone else.

1988 - my only visit and one of the only times we had any bother at away games. Our accents got spotted in a pub, after a few cuffs round the head we beat a hasty retreat. Luckily a taxi was sitting outside, jumped in and asked for Oakwell. The driver laughed, drove round the corner and a few hundred yards down the road (we'd had no idea how close to the ground we were) and charged us a quid.

The 1990 League Cup game is the only time I have been there.
