I would be amazed if this did not sell out before 8th September - most will fancy a few days in Sunny Blackpool

That is a big allocation.  Sadly didn't go to any games last season so will have to hope that there are still tickets when tehy go on sale.  Would fancy this as its a local trip to me right now and I've not been to Deep Dale before.  Would hope for a strong performance and three points too as I expect them to struggle this season.

Went a couple of years back with Walsall.

Deepdale is a very nice ground, comfortable seats and can get a good atmosphere going behind the goal although was only 500 that day.

Not too far from City Centre either. Shame they never made it to the prem all those years ago...

Is this not likely to make general sale then? 5.5k is still a decent amount to shift among season ticket holders.

I'm asking that at work and I live here! Deepdale a good mile and half from city centre. Nice big pub called continental near train station but further away.  The sumners is the typical away fan choice

When you try and buy tickets it won't let you and it says sold out. The website did the same for Barnsley though and that wasn't sold out so it may be incorrect.

Are you sure it isn't because you don't meet the selling criteria yet? Normally this season when we've sold out they've put the info on this page...

https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/Listings?sTag={D0116A7A-631D-4945-9DC8-61F92823F79E}

Pretty much straightaway.

My cousin meets the selling criteria and it's saying sold out on his, as well as mine. Whether it actually is, I don't know because they do normally announce it like you say.

Someone needs to have that on their things to do list.  Ideally at the top.

Tried splitting it at Crewe and it still got to 40 quid...that said 22 quid return from Crewe in first class currently available....

I was expecting to pay about around £20-£25 for a return ticket to Preston. I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the price of train tickets. I flew to the west of Ireland last month for £30 return!

Yes it's very expensive up to Crewe....not too bad past that heading up the North west.

Good mate lives in Newton Le Willows (next door to Ads probably) so do this trip a few times a year...normally get the London Midland up to Crewe as they do 5 quid single tickets there and back and then get the VT train up to Wigan.

Funny thing is, the day after I moved in I saw a girl jogging past our house wearing a Villa shirt. Not seen her since or another Villa fan in the past 5 years up here.

An alternative would be London  Midland  to Liverpool and local train to either Southport and bus (20 mins) or Ormskirk and get on the West Lancs Line to Preston  in probably the worst train I have ever travelled  on.

First-time purchaser here. Curious as to what and how the 'areas' work when purchasing? Would expect to have seen block numbers or something? Just went for Best Available, but wondered what the difference in the areas was?

If you look at the pics of the Bill Shankly Kop -link below - there seems go be 7 sections in the seating.

If the train looks over the top then why not try Ecker and North Walsall Lions, Goughy and Premier or even Hatchett's Sutton lot.

They'll pick a good pub too.

I'm travelling onwards to London after this match and would rather not take my bag to the ground, particularly as it may contain a bottle of rakija bought on my current holiday as a gift. I know Preston train station doesn't have luggage storage. Does anyone know if the bus station does? The only thing I've found online is a forum comment from 4-5 years ago saying it does. Can any locals shed some light?

Are you going to a pub first? I'd ring up the manager in advance and ask if you can leave it there until after the game, as long as you show them what's in it beforehand it should be ok.

Meanwood, I'm afraid I can't shed any light. I called Preston Bus and they gave me a defunct phone number for Preston Bus station security!  You can leave the bag at my house if you like, I'm in Longton 3 miles away from station  (PR4 5EE).  Probably not that convenient, as it's a £8.00 taxi ride away.   Making plan's is difficult as have two sets of mates to collect from the station at around 11.00am.   Anyhow, PM me if that is an option.

Maybe if you can find someone who's driving up on here they might let you dump it in their boot during the game? All I can think of as Preston don't do left luggage any more. Otherwise asking ahead or on the day with a pub manager might be a good bet.
