Title: Derby (A)
Post by: UK Redsox on July 21, 2016, 10:28:17 AM
Putting aside the Shef Wed delay, is it normal in the Championship for tickets to go on sale closer to the game date than for the Premier League matches.

I always thought it was 6-4 weeks notice, but Sheffield Wednesday appear to be particularly Mickey Mouse in their approach to what surely must be a simple consideration.

Derby will sell out quickly.

Might see how tough/easy it is to get tickets in home end for this one.

Another expensive one - £36 for adults.

Only 3,000. I'm only an ST holder, do we reckon it will go that far before they sell out and if not is there any chance for us to ask for more?

I'd be surprised if it got beyond Thursday mate. I'm hopeful like you are as I'm trying to build a third away card up for when my nipper comes along in a year or too.

Can't get through on the phone (can't even get in a queue) and the ticket part of the website seems to have crashed
Title: Re: Derby (A)
Post by: UK Redsox on July 25, 2016, 09:26:54 AM
Reloaded the ticket page, which then said I was in a queue.

After 10 minutes or so, that page also crashed and gave a 404 error

Reloaded again. After another few minutes, this appeared on a red background

WE'RE SORRY!
THERE HAS BEEN AN UNEXPECTED ERROR. PLEASE RETURN TO TICKET HOME TO BROWSE AGAIN. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, PLEASE CONTACT CONSUMER SALES ON 0333 323 1874.
« Return to Ticket Home

EDIT ........the instruction to phone consumer sales is of course pointless because the phone lines are jammed and the old queuing system seems to have been scrapped

Finally got through on the phone and (after a two minute message) am now in a queue.

The main part of the message was that it would be better to book on line because there's a 10 minute queue on the phone

Insert head-slap emoticon thingy here

Their website repair won the race over somebody answering the phone, so I was eventually able to order online.

Hopefully these are just teething problems with the new system. Otherwise this is going to get annoying as the season progresses

You've got the criteria change today for Wednesday creating a log jam with the Derby tickets I guess.

I think we've got to get away from the thinking that 3,000 is not a good allocation, it's 10% of their ground. We don't want to be treated as the big fish in the small pond when it comes to Cat. A pricing (see Sheff Weds), but then we do when it comes to being allocated more than everyone else.

It's not a good allocation. We sold pretty much that many Wednesday tickets in a day.

According to footballgroundguide.com the usual away allocation at Derby is 2700. We have 3179 tickets which is pretty much 10% of the capacity. Considering Derby fill most of their ground most of the time, I don't think we can argue with that allocation.

It's about the same as we usually give away fans for a ground that holds 10K more, just because we'd sell more doesn't change that it's a good allocation.

As others have alluded to, the Wednesday game doesn't really matter to this one. We could have sold 10,000 Wednesday tickets in 3 hours, it wouldn't change the point that getting over 3,000 at Derby when they have around a 32k capacity is more than a fair number.

Booked mine this aftenoon online.  Never had a problem with getting them on the website.

I'm not suggesting it's unfair. It's just not a good allocation. Not Derby's fault but unfortunately lots of Villa fans will likely be disappointed.

Purchased this morning. The way I see it is we were taking reduced allocations last season and still not selling aways out until the death. Therefore if people havent got the criteria to go than that's there fault. 3k for Derby is exactly what we used to get when they were in the Prem. It's a very fair allocation.

10,000 wednesday tickets hhmmm is that why they are still on sale?

Perhaps we might be a bit more obliging if you came on here for anything other than asking for tickets.

I never said it wasn't fair. It's still not good though.

Derby have very good support and will get over 30k for this no problem so can't really see how we'd get 4-5k tickets unless it's a cup game.

I remember on previous visits to Derby they have given us around 3k allocation behind the goal, however I think they have moved the away section to one of the corners now.

As a 'Derby' Villan; I am quite often reminded at work, that Derby have 25000 season ticket holders.

So having 3000 odd tickets is OK.

It would be the same if they had come up the other season and played us in the premier league. Really don't see what the problem is...we can take 5k to likes of Barnsley and Wigan.

I assume it's because they take tickets for every game. I also assume there's a limit on how many they can have for each game.

That's right, I had a couple of freebies to Derby last year and the away fans were in the corner.
