Latest news is that Kinsella has gone, who's next?
-
Blimey! I know we've handed out some ridiculous contracts in recent years, but I thought Mark left a decade or so ago.
-
Richardson and Nzogbis any day now
Nzogbia must be up there in terms of our worst ever signings
Makoun, Balaban, Collymore, Ireland, Richards, Sidwell - he belongs in that lot for sure

I thought Steve '75th Minute Sub' Sidwell contributed more than the other five mentioned there combined.
Don't get me wrong, I thought he was shit, but even if you just consider that quick return of the ball as a sub to Milner against Hull, that alone was more than ****** like Ireland ever contributed.

That was a great assist, remember him dominating our midfield against Reading years back. Stole a top division career off the back of it
Ireland was player of the year wasn't he? Maybe the McLeish year? Gutless moron of a man.

nzog wasnt that bad a signing, he has only cost us 25 million :o
-
If we're talking about bad signings, Nicky Shorey deserves a mention. When we played Doncaster at the Keepmoat in the FA Cup, a Rovers supporting mate of mine remarked that we'd rather kick the ball into touch than give it to Shorey

I used to play with someone who was a kid with Sidwell at Arsenal. He said that Sidwell was always the type who'd prefer to be a big fish in a little pond. Of course the guy could've just been jealous.

It seems unlikely that he deliberately failed to impress at Arsenal and Villa in the hope of winning a move to Reading/Fulham.

I don't hold it against Makound and Balaban so much - they never really got a chance and had the good grace to fuck off when asked. Same for Richards and Sidwell really, not good enough but you get the impression they wanted to play. Ireland at least went out on loan and eventually pissed off. Collymore was massively disappointing.
But for me N'Zogbia is by far the worst. No effort, no contribution and would prefer to sit on his arse taking the money and let his god given talent be wasted. What an absolute ******. He is already rich beyond most peoples wildest dreams, why not take a hit and actually go and play football somewhere? I can never understand these players who put cash above a proper playing career.
I cannot think of a player I've ever disliked more. Lazy, leaching ******.

I realise I may be part of a small minority but I rated Makoun.

Me too, I think McLeish dumping him the way he did was a mistake. He played about 6-7 games and, whilst he was struggling with the pace of the league, he showed enough to suggest he could've been a good player for us the next year. When you consider his 'replacement' was Jermaine Jenas it looks even worse.

I'd forgotten that numpty played for us. Terrible signing.

well he didnt really play did he ?

I was under the impression that contracts ran July1st to July 1st
I would imagine you may see leavers more around that time
Clubs must be rubbing their hands at the thought of picking up the likes of our Kieran or Charles ???
-
Sometimes when I see team line-ups for games years ago I have that "blimey, I had forgotten he played for us" moment.
Something tells me that in ten years' time I'll think that about 75 % of our current squad. Utterly forgettable

If Villa had just avoided relegation, they would have been forgettable. However, due to their connection with the relegation, the players will be more memorable than bit part players from previous years

And what's Makoun doing now?
-
Whens Kozac out of contract?
-
Can we have a "Send Notifications" on this? We want to be able to instantly celebrate the highly anticipated departures.
-
Are you suggesting we should have kept Kinsella? He couldn't get in Luton team last season.
-

Kozak is end of next season.
-
Makoun played in 20 games for Antalyaspor in Turkey according to Wikipedia, I thought he did enough to suggest he could do a decent job when we had him too.
Saying that he hasn't set the world alight anywhere else, one who did improve was Michael Bradley although I can't remember seeing him play much to be honest.
I just hope we don't do a Chelsea and decide to offer a 1 year extension to our wonderful club servant Charles N'zogbia 😳

I cant wait to see where, and with what type of contract, Nzog ends up with.
Hopefully it will result in much merriment from most on here, anybody got any ideas?

Does it matter? He's had 5 years at Villa on 3m+ a year as well as whatever he pocketed at Newcastle and Wigan. Unless he's a complete buffoon he'll never have to work a day again whoever comes in for him.
-
Typical Redknapp signing if he ever manages again.

I wouldn't rule out the complete buffoon option. His tailor certainly saw him coming. As do most other people now.

Compared to Gabby he looks a genius and that prat seems to making ends meet. To be honest at 29, if has an ounce of professionalism, he'll be able to milk the lower leagues or abroad for another 4 years even if it is at the 2-5k a week level. Even at that reduced level its pretty hard to gloat when he's probably got 5m in the bank and has a 200k a year pension kicking in at 40

I dont think he limes Harry nor does Harry like him. In fairness to harry he clearly labelled him as a cjhancer years ago
