Michelle Wie stealing a page from the ATP/Djokovic book of how to deal with poor play:
Michelle Wie withdrew from the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic on Sunday because of neck spasms after playing the first 15 holes in 11 over. Wie was 16 over at Lake Merced after opening with rounds of 73, 73 and 75.She is winless since the 2014 U.S. Women's Open and hasn't had a top-10 finish in 33 events.

Just like Gabbys "vertigo" excuse

Fairplay to Muirfield; they are still not allowing birds to be members.

Rightly stripped of their chance of hosting The Open
-
I don't see the story.
Muirfield is a private club, they can chose their own membership rules.
By the same token, the Royal & Ancient can choose which clubs it allows to host the Open.
Seems like entirely the right result all round.
-
Of course Muirfield can choose their own rules.
Just as the rest of us can choose to regard them as bigoted, outdated tossers for maintaining said rules.

Would you have the same opinion if they voted against allowing black people to be members, or Jewish people?

I bet they'd hate Whoopi Goldberg.

You do realise we are in the 21st Century now?

But the point is its a private members club. They may have outdated mindsets and that needs to be worked on but the committee recommended they voted in favour. The members didn't so the club are in a difficult position. It would be impossible to legislate against all male clubs because there are all female golf clubs (usually council run I think).
I think the vast majority of people do recognise that they're stuck in a time warp but it is up to the members. That they have voted no is nonsensical and shows them up for what they are, and hopefully the negative publicity will help them change their minds. No more tournaments and sponsorship dropping off will make them think again.

Yes. It's a private club, they can vote to exclude girls, blacks, Jews, fatties, gingers, UKIP members and marmite eaters if they want.
And we have the right to disapprove and not let them play with the rest of us civilised types. Which is exactly what is happening with them being stripped of the Open.
If you want to dictate to private organisations, then you have to start looking at things like the Women's Institute, women only swimming sessions and Sharia courts, and it all starts to get a bit more idealogically difficult than beating up on a few doddery old blokes in Scotland.

Lee Westwood in contention to win the US Open. Sadly I think he will fail once again to win a major. When the pressure's really on, his putting has always let him down.

Sky are already going massive on the Open, expecting as they usually do, a superb coverage.

Great for those who can afford it, not so much for those who can't.

Yeah I agree, although as good as Sky's coverage will be, still should be shown live on the Beeb.

Any one have any fancies on the golf open.
Outside of the obvious big players.

Incredible performance from Lefty

No Ivor Robson, no Open.

Conditions really bad at the moment. Just wish they'd have been like this from the start.
-
It's a big round today. I hope the Phil and Stenson don't run away with it.
-
What a stunning battle between Mickelson and Stenson. Toe to toe. Fantastic stuff.
-
Having been at Edgbaston I missed the last round. I've since caught up on the highlights and have to say I'm really pleased for Stenson.
ps My golf bets were garbage.

A terrible thing happened when I played Sedgley 9 holer on Saturday morning.. Played ok and found a brand new Titleist Pro V ball in the rough. Gave the cursory glance around to see if anyone was looking for a ball. They weren't so I grabbed it. Chuffed... Sedgley isn't the type of course you find many Titleists ... But, on closer inspection I find the Albion badge has been stamped on it. I sombrely and silently handed it over to my father-in-law who couldn't care less about such things.

I would have kept it and wankered it into the nearest water hazard or made sure I hit into the rough as far as I could... I usually do that with all my balls anyway.
