Fabulous article.

"Enter McNaught, the Obi Wan Kenobi of Kircaldy".
What a great line from a great article.

Great article. After years of being in seats with the family, that was my first game stood on the Holte. Playing Barcelona, on the Holte, parents in the seats, 12 year old me loved it.
-
Superb article.
I had the programme for this game but I don't remember seeing Doug's request for a volunteer video camera operator to record the big games!
-
I was at the front of the lower Trinity with my mom and cousin and seeing the highlights still gives me goosebumps. It was an incredible night.
-
Loved that.
Just makes me love them even more.
-
Fantastic article thank you.
For all of you who were there it must have been a wonderful evening.

The best football article I have read in ages. Well researched, well written and bloody funny.
I was a student in Sheffiled and used to get to 20 or more Villa games a season and for the life of me can't remember why I never came back for this game.

And can someone sell some lottery tickets please!

It was my birthday so instead of standing on the Holte our Dad got us tickets on the halfway line in the Trinity upper. Unforgettable night. 33 years ago.... Bloody hell!

Fantastic article thank you.

I remember this game as if it was yesterday.
Contrary to what the newspaper article said I thought Barcelona had already roughed us a bit in the home tie in the 1978 EUFA Cup first leg 2-2 draw.
However the SCF was something else - the likes of which I'd never seen before or have seen after - they were lucky to end up with 9 players still on the pitch. Fantastic scenes all around VP for all our goals.
I've got the midnight news from brmb on an old cassette somewhere and George Gavin's reports on the goals are on a par with his commentary for Peter Withe's goal in the ECF.
A totally unforgettable night and although the Super Cup probably wasn't the prestige game it went on to be - winning it at home that night was one of the most satisfying feelings I've had in my 49 years of supporting us.
