Why the doom and gloom?  That team, given the injuries, is pretty much as expected.  Is this an in-joke that I've missed out on (I still don't get the Barry penalty joke).

No creativity in midfield.
I'd have played Gil or Grealish instead of Gestede and put Ayew in the middle.

We're getting nothing out of a side with Gestede as our focal point. If there's one think Metersacker can deal with easily, it's high balls. If there's one thing he struggles with it's pace and movement, so naturally as we're Aston Fucking Villa, we play Rudy Ges-fucking-tede up front who is one of the few players in the world who makes Metersacker look like Usain Bolt.

The back four and goalkeeper is what will send us down. I realize we can't score but when you can't defend even the best forward line in the world isn't going to save you. We cannot do the basics let alone do them well.

Tell me about it. I see a lot of below average footballers, honestly not a lot better than what we see in the championship that, and I'll say it again, have zero fight! And if you don't have that in your personality when you're bottom then you have no chance.

This is the one thing that I detest about this Paddy Reilly....you can have as many stats and figures on your laptop as you like. You can't tap into their mindset though.

And it's 2.....

Forget next three games are vital talk, we're down, were over the abyss and the players know it and they couldn't give a fuck. They should as not one of them will be picked up by any other club.

Hutton, woeful beyond belief
Gestede, hilarious impression of a footballer
Sanchez, The Phantom of the midfield
Sinclair, promising ten mins then absolute fuck all since

the rest were merely piss poor

We're shit, that's clear but why the fuck does the ref thunk they need a helping hand? The second was piss poor defending but that doesn't dtop the decision to not give Gana a freekick any less ridiculous, He's 5 yards away, which isn't much further than Ramsey was from the ball. That's the sort of shit bottom of the league teams always have against them.

Pathetic really.
The only player who appears to care is Ayew, and he was the one we signed who came with a reputation for petulance. The lack of effort from some of these players is appalling.
Gana at least is putting himself about, but there's very little end product from him either defensively or offensively.

Take them all to the glue factory. Close down Villa park and spend 6 months hosing the stink of failure out of the ground.

I hate this squad. I hate the people running this club. I feel a little sorry for Remi inheriting such abject shit, but even so, he's made some appalling decisions and doesn't appear to have motivated the squad in any clear way so as such I probably wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire either and won't shed a tear if he's not here in May.

That was as shocking as it gets. Weak defensively and non-existent in attack. Gestede is so out of his depth. I'd prefer to see Gabby leading the line. Sinclair runs around a lot but isn't a footballer. Ayew at least seems to care but he's no real threat.

In their defence it's not as if we're giving them much service. Far too much still going down the right to Hutton, who's having a stinker today. We have the best crosser in the side on the other side but Bacuna isn't getting to see much of the ball and when he does he looks to pass it back.

We look like a team playing in quicksand.

We weren't doing too badly until the penalty. Heads didn't half drop afterwards, and that is the biggest problem Garde has.

Walcott got past Hutton far too easily and couldn't hit the ground hard enough when he felt hands on him. Still Hutton's fault for doing it in the first place but I would like to see that alongside the incident against Manu where Richards took the mother of all gropings at a corner and got nothing.

Arsenal look pretty ordinary, but that is all they need to be. It's annoying.

What makes me sicker than anything is the descriptions that pop up every now and again during and after a game from the official site on Facebook. It's as if we're always somehow unfortunate or plucky. Or there's a suggestion we're playing well. It's the sort of shitty rose tinted, "it's all okay" view that seems to permeate through the whole club from the top down, as if this is somehow okay. Players don't raise their game and seem to believe they're earning their crust.
It's sickening.

Just once I'd like to see a post from the official site simply state..."What the fuck is this shit?"

No one can seriously be surprised. Its the hope thats killing you all - I'd bet my house now we are going down.

The good news is that I am one of the few who believe it might be the turning point, whereas another survival by the skin of our teeth will just prolong the averageness. The issue now with the upcoming transfer window is convincing players to join when the likelihood is they will be embroiled in what appears to a pointless battle to survive. What player of any significance wants to further their career at a club that is almost certain to go down?

No one can seriously be surprised. Its the hope thats killing you all - I'd bet my house now we are going down.

The good news is that I am one of the few who believe it might be the turning point, whereas another survival by the skin of our teeth will just prolong the averageness. Lets go down, clear out, give Remi some serious support, and then with a winning season, we come back and stick the laughs back down their throats.

I understand where you are coming from but fear we wont bounce back. It's a hard league to get out of and we coudl be joined by Sundeland and Newcastle wo also feel they should bounce back.

i think we'd walk back into the PL at the first attempt - the Championship is far worse than people think, we'd be a cut above in that league even as bad as we are. With the right additions, trust in Remi, and vocal backing, we'd be back for the 17/18 season.

I'm not so sure. Players will go where the money is, and if you give them a get out relegation clause they will come.
We have to spend if we want a chance of staying up.

Averageness? There's nothing vaguely average about this club. It's a shithouse. And this is what's really painful. Shit teams are one thing. But this whole club has become shit. As much as it sickens me to say it, Ian Holloway was right.
Spot on.

I find watching Villa every week at the moment as an utterly soul destroying experience. From the hope that we might actually do something through to the inevitable first goal going in an the great sense of disappointment at the final whistle.

Simple fact is that I really cannot remember ever seeing a Villa team this bad. I think it will be the Championship for us, a parachute payment will soften the blow somewhat, but we'd better get used to it.

I'll always support Villa, but I find it very very hard to maintain the love for them at the moment. It's more just an inevitable morbid curiosity now.

OK we were rubbish. But what makes me sick is the complete acceptance of the penalty by Sky pundits. Would it have been the same at the other end of the pitch? Dodgy at best. Walcott cuts across Hutton who tries to get him out of the way. Then no-one, but no-one mentions the clear foul on the edge of their penalty area before they break away and score the second goal which was 'a joy to watch ... started with a good tackle' - a clear foul in my book. I hate Sky and everything it stands for.
