Title: Starting 11
Post by: robsvilla on October 17, 2015, 10:29:28 AM
Difficult times when you can't put half a team (approx) as nailed on certs for a first team place.
Tim clearly doesn't know who he prefers and in which position primarily due to the transfer frenzy in the summer. Sacking him would be ludicrous at this stage of the season for a number of reasons not least because there's no-one of a better calibre in the managerial hinterland. Hard to see many points in the near future - so carry on Tim, do a Leicester for 90 mins instead of 65 - truth be told we'll still be down @ B6 for ever

Newbies shouldn't be selfish with new thread creations.

I normally welcome new posters but in this case I will make an exception. This is exactly the mind set that has got us where we are, the perceived virtue of dithering.

Everyone is welcome on here, regardless of their opinions on Villa-related matters.

I don't think the opening post is that controversial. I've read a lot worse.

But there are still many that want to keep Sherwood for now.

I normally welcome old posters, but I find your unfathomable similes quite irritating.

I don't think he was talking about that Post in particular. Anyway, why fall out? The missus told me she was going to Birmingham for the weekend with the kids and will be back tomorrow? Time to chill.

Then she called 5 mins ago and said bro-in-law is coming to Bham and plans changed and I have to go to a dinner at family friends tonight. FFS.

You don't have to. You could tell her to bollox.

Or less confrontational you could tell her it's short notice and you've already got your dinner out partially defrosted on the side and its some expensive waitrose / marks and Spencer's effort that you don't want to waste.

The reason I was dismissive of a poster's first post was because the use of the word "ludicrous" to describe the view that Sherwood must be replaced, held by me and by a substantial number of respected other posters smacked of trollery and as I read it again still does.

He's entitled to his opinion though and he's hardly a troll, he's only posted once.

And I am entitled to mine. If I had said push off with your criticism of something in which I believe there might be a little justification in the brickbats I am getting used to but I did not, I chose simply not to extend my hand to somebody who chose to make his introduction into our midst with a charge of ludicrousness.

I thought it was an ok opening post in fairness. He thinks it would be ludicrous to get rid of him now and some people think he should have gone by now. Both opinions are valid, whether it's via opening post or 10,000 posts in.

We basically have no coherent forward line do we. There definitely has been no pre season work on how we are to play as a team and how we are going to score the goals. I'm pretty sure all we've done is some running.

One game at a time now. For Swansea if fit I'd go -

------------ Bunn ----------------

Richards. Clark. Okore. Amavi

Sinclair.  Sanchez.  Gana. Veretout

-------- Gabby ---- Kozak ------

As the teams were announced yesterday, we were speculating in the pub whether the seven on the bench could beat the first team. Chuck Kozak, Gabby, Veretout and Clark into it and it's not so much strength in depth as strength in reserve.

Why would you play your best player by far at right back? The fact we have shit right backs is not a defence. Richards is good enough to play for a top team, he has been excellent, I agree that Kozak to be fair

Richards is a RB IMHO not a CB

I would suggest he is a CB for a top 4 club, not a struggling club like us. Also, I wish a few more players had his will to win.

I actually think Gil and Grealish become a problem when what you need to do is get a set formation and framework to work within.

I would only have one of them in the side and rotate them/ bring in the other as and when.

The best we have played was Leicester away for 60 minutes, without Gestede too, which I think says a lot about the style of play when he is in.

To that end this weekend I would go

Bunn

Richardson
Clark
Okore
Richards

Amavi
Veretout
Gana
Gil

Ayew
Kozak
