2-0 league cup in 93?
-
1-0. The Dean Saunders "offside" goal.
No Mr Cooper and Greaves, you can't be offside in your own half!
-
Spot on Dave.
-
Done.
-
Particularly like the Lambert removing the decimal point line.

2-0 league cup in 93?
Yes, can't remember the score but it was a 2-legged one in the cup-winning campaign of 93/94. Paul Tait got sent off didn't he? For pushing Richardson(? was it?) into the crowd, but don't remember if that was the home or away leg.

Yes - enjoyed reading the whole thing, thanks Dave.

Home leg
The wanker then went on the have a SOTV t shirt on show at Wembley when they won a windscreen wiper - proper player, footballer, err postman
Tosser of the highest order, only surpassed by King of tosser Robert Hopkins
-
This sums them up perfectly, this one of their legends, not a framed picture of winning a tinpot trophy, but of the t-shirt and headlines.

Has John Frain got a framed picture of himself missing that penalty in the first leg?
-
It was saved, wasn't it?
-
Bosnich off the bench after Spink had been sent off?
-
Always remember a quote (I think attributed to DW) and was pre their jammy 2010 LC win over Arsenal (at least they had the decency to get themselves relegated the same year - karma is good)
Think of the biggest games you have attended as a Villa fan in your life - they will be winning cup finals or big matches that meant something
Ask one of them and it was either a game against us or a defeat to someone else
-
ViD; Spinky was injured, rather than sent off, wasn't he?
-
Yes - Bozzie saved it with his legs after coming on for the injured Spinksy.
Then there were some entertaining post-match interviews:-
Newbon:- "Did the occasion get to you, cos you're not used to playing in front of full houses? "
Frain:- "...I just didn't hit it properly..."
Newbon:- "Well, we're going to show you that penalty miss..."
Frain:- "_ _ _ _"
-
I remember BFR saying something about how much B-lose had improved under Terry Cooper. "If that would have been a few months ago I wouldn't have bothered bringing a goalie on".
Oh, and fair play to the Villa fan in their end jumping up and down at the penalty save. Wonder if he got a bit of a pasting like I did when I went in the Kop.
-
"And maybe the goalscorer Villa so desperately need is already at the club in the hat trick-scoring shape of Scott Sinclair."
In the words of Hong Kong Fooey "Could be.....!"
-

I thought Bosnich came straight off the bench to save Frain's penalty after Spinky got his marching orders. Could be my memory playing tricks, I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning´.

I have the souvenir VHS of that cup run that could confirm it, but it's in the basement. My memory itself is so bad, I thought Bosnich was already our first choice by then.
-
Bit pedant but Sanchez has played CB before (Sunderland away, admittedly we were 4 up at the time).

Snap Re the VHS. Transferring all the VHS to a hard drive has been one of the never got around to jobs of the last 5 years.

Spink was injured, the penalty was shortly after the change.
But I'd thought the same for years till I saw the footage, and I was there.
-
I think the penalty was for a real 'striker's' tackle by Dalian Atkinson which he didn't need to make.
-
Very true - transferred the VHS (now buried somewhere in the attic) via capturecard to PC about ten years ago.
Central Sports special with Bob Hall & Greasie™ (minus Stain™)
Spinksy got clattered against the post and was replaced by Bozzie.
Then, later on, Atkinson made a classic striker's tackle on Andy...ahem...Saville.
And the rest...as they say...is history.
So...here it is...with some crappy editing to get it below the 15 minute mark...
(any advice on yewchoobe description or tagging would be welcome)
(with extra-added bonus "Sid" footage)

Thanks bugdozer, great to see that again.
I love BFR's comments at the end about McGrath.
' It was a penalty. I thought Macca had started playing Gaelic football.'
Refreshing to hear that instead of, 'I didn't see it'.

You're welcome.
It's also very refreshing to hear BFR say "Sarrnders".
