If our new boys turn out to be as good as we hope they are I'll settle for a solid mid table. Eighth to tenth will be a massive improvement.

This would be an improvement of course and I hope we achieve it!
Anything from 11th upwards please...
-
7-12 I think
-
After our last few seasons i will be happy with mid table for a few years
-
Hopefully at Wembley
-
1st.
-
It's difficult to know until we see how the different players gel, but one thing I do know is that the difference in quality from 6th / 7th place down is not particularly big, so we should be giving it a good go.
-
Jordan. The promised land of 11th.
This season is a transistional one. 2016/17 will see us in the steady climb back to top 8.
-
Is anyone else thinking of backing villa on the handicap list? Bet365 give us 15/1 with a 43 point start
-
Still in the Prem, I hope.
-
9th I reckon. And many shocked people. Then we sit back and watch the Timmy rebuild continue.
-
I'll go for ninth. just about top half. Surprising what a few signings can do for raising optimism. If you'd asked a week ago I'd have said another relegation battle looms.
It really would be nice to reach 40 points by Feb / March instead of the last couple of games though.
-
Qualify for Europa League.
-
7-12 I think
Same here, if higher would be amazing season what we Villa fans have been through.
-
Anywhere between 7th and 20th.
I don't think we will be in trouble at all for what it is worth.
-
In fact, I will say this season we will be the unknown, attack minded quantity I thought we would be under Lambert.
-
10th
-
Anywhere between 20th and 7th I think. It could be a disaster of epic proportions, or we could do a Southampton and surprise people. In actuality I fancy us to stabilise somewhere between 9th-12th. We'll look great at times. In others we'll get cut to ribbons. I think we'll run out of steam at some point and need a second wind, but I hope we'll be safe as houses. I would hope that we'll have more good days than bad. If we can win more than we lose, that's a great start.
-
I'm hoping for a stabilising 7th before pushing on higher the season after
-
6th
-
8th to 10th but a pleasant change to looking up from looking down.
-
Champions with 111 points and no goals conceded.
-
I honestly think it could be a Southampton type season. Then again, this is Villa we're talking about.
-
11th
-
At the moment anywhere between 1st-20th.
-
12th.
Similar to MON's first season, we'll start strongly, have a massive dip around xmas (when do we not!) which will get plenty of people worrying and then have a very exciting finish which will hint at good times in store the following season.
-
Champions with 111 points and no goals conceded.
The only way we could possibly finish on 111 points is if we won thirty-seven, drew none, and lost one. There's, obviously, no way we could lose a match without conceding a goal so, just because of this, I'm afraid I'd have to suggest that your prediction is unrealistic.
We'll get 114 points, you big Negative Nelly.
-
I don't think anyone can predict our season with any great certainty due to so many new players, some of them never having played in Englsnd before.
Anywhere between 7/8th and 20th is my best guess.
-
Just had 5/1 on Villa finishing in the top 10.
Think thats a good bet.
-
10th in my wildest dreams.
-
Is anyone else thinking of backing villa on the handicap list? Bet365 give us 15/1 with a 43 point start
A few I know (none Villa fans) have taken us at 3-1 to be relegated.

If they wanted to throw their money away they could have just given it to me.

They're as confident as you are!
-
Reckon we could be around 8th-13th, as someone else said the gap after the teams is not that great. Would be happy with a stress free end of season, nice cup runs and plenty of excitement.
-
I think that if we can finish around 12th -14th without too much of a relegation battle then that will be a very positive season. Bear in mind the majority of the signings so far are unproven in the premier league. Sorry to be negative but talk of 8th is far from where we will end up.
-
3rd or 9th. Probably 9th
-
12th I reckon . I think Southampton will do well, as will Newcastle
Stoke and west ham will slide , Sunderland will be as shit as ever .
-
I think between 6th and 9th for Villa.
-
8-12th for me, maybe we need a poll... just for kicks?
-
15th -17th. Hopefully 15th.
-
13th. Progress I suppose.
-
Mid table.
Sunderland will get relegated this season. They strike me as an even less ambitious version of us.
-
A patchy season and a finish around 13th-15th.
-
8th
-
Mid table.

Could be. They don't even seem to be trying to change course. At least we were spooked enough to try something new.
-
Let's face it, whilst these new signings appear exciting, none of us really know how they will adapt to the premiership. 9th is about as much as I dare to dream. I'd be surprised if we're in yet another fkn dogfight though.
The appearance that we finally look to have got some people in position off the pitch that actually have a clue what they're doing gives me a lot more hope than the fact that we've had a bit of a clear out and got some new faces in. Looks like Lerner is here to stay for at least this season and he's backed the manager so far. A couple more out and a couple more quality players in and it's game on for us.
League cup is a chance and maybe a UEFA cup finish, if we really get things together, but 9th is my call and would be a significant improvement over the absolute dross of the last 4-5 seasons. Make or break for TS this season. I think he can lift us, but then I thought that of Lambert, even up to this season, so shows how much I know.
I used to really care about Villa, but I'd trade an ashes win for another trip to Wembley now, in all honesty.
-
I'd be happy to finish lower half, safe lower half and be a good cup side next season. We need to blend all those players in, so I wonder if the season after might be a better barometer? I want us to be competitive and not the laughing stock we once were. All that said, hopefully we are now back to being a top 8 side.
-
Mid-table would do just fine after the last few seasons.
-
10th - 12th and well clear of the relegation zone will suit me.
-
Bet365 have us at 4 - 1 to be the top Midlands side. Sturk favourites. Anyone else considering a heavy bet on the re-establishment of the natural order ?
-
Beating Arsenal 5-0 in the cup final. Boring final, only one team in it.
-
Below Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton, Swansea and Stoke.
Above Watford, Norwich, Bournemouth, Leicester, West Brom and Sunderland.
Either above or below Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle and Palace.
So 10th-14th. I'll guess 12th.
-
So difficult to call where we will finish. We've made so many changes to the side which finished last season and we could expect some of them to settle better and quicker than others. A mid table finish, some entertainment and stronger home record will be welcome for me.
-
No idea. Anywhere between 8th and 20th is possible. I'd guess we'll end up around 11-15th.
-
Lets go for a boring season and be mid table - would be such a change not having to think its a must win home game in April
Oh and lets get greedy and have a real day out at the end of May when we finally win that cup I still haven't seen us win !
-
10th and above the Albion would make me a happy man.
-
18th to 20th
-
14th to 10th, but finishing like an express train after a ropey first couple of months.
-
8th-13th.
The squad has been transformed in a matter of weeks and we don't have the luxury of bedding these players in. They really need to hit the ground running quickly and more importantly adapt to the pace of the Premier League...a few of them could have a wake up call within the first few games if they are not on it so I hope TS and the staff get it drummed into them that these preseason games are nothing like they should expect when we get down to business.
-
If the defence can do an average premiership job then maybe top half. If they gift goals again then a bottom half finish. We just can't afford to give goals away to teams that are probably on a par with us.
-
I reckon we will be consistently around 10-12th for the first half of the season and as we get better and click threaten a Europa place by the end. My guess is a decent first half of the season, good to very good second half.
-
Difficult to say. It would be devastating to be in the relegation battle again after all the signings. I'm going for 10th.
-
Score 50 goals and we will finish 10th.
-

I agree. Our defence doesn't half worry me.
-
if we defend like today bottom 5
-
Well, if we're extrapolating performances in meaningless friendlies and using them as a basis for how we'll perform during the season, then I think Sinclair will score 114 goals and we'll win the league.
-
8 - 12th. So I'll go 10th.
-
9th - 13th I reckon. I'll just be happy not to see us in the bottom 4 the whole season to be fair after the last 4 years!

Here is what happened next season to the teams who came in 17th place. (going back 10 seasons)
WBA - Relegated 19th
Portsmouth - 9th
Wigan - 14th
Fulham - 7th
Hull - Relegated 19th
West Ham - Relegated 20th
Wolves - Relegated 20th
QPR - Relegated 20th
Sunderland - 14th
West Brom - 13th
Lets hope we can do a Fulham.
-
8th
This. I think we are going to surprise a lot of people this season.
-
A lot will depend on how the new signings gel, I am optimistic about the coming season. Whatever happens, don't think it will be dull.
Would like to get to 40 points, as quick as possible and just enjoy the run in towards the end of the season, then just
creep up the table for a change :)
Anything around mid table this season would be great.
-
A balls-out rollercoaster to sixth.
-
There will be a few lows as the team start to gel at the beginning. But the squad looks a lot stronger than last season.

Question is, how many of those teams were in a position to say this isn't working and gut the whole first team to pretty much start from scratch? From memory I'd guess Portsmouth doing a 'appy 'arry special would be my only suggestion.
I'd guess that most of the rest carried on in the same manner that got them into that position to start with.
At least we're trying to break the cycle.
-
Mid table mediocrity all season, please. 9 years since one of those, is it? Another cup run would be pleasant.

Agree. Although all of them except the most recent two were relegated at some point in the following years which makes an 80% relegation rate in the last decade a bit hair raising...
The one extra reason for optimism is if you go back 1 extra year then the team is Everton who were 17th which is a far more comforting prospect I think.
-
Interesting little thing. Going on the last 10 years there is a 50% chance of use going down next season then. You can see why the bookies and pundits think we will struggle, having lost our 3 most recognisable, and arguably best players through our spine too. Sherwood has a massive job to get it together this season.
-
Not answering that until the 31st of August at least, fuck you all! ;) All I will say is that their are at least three teams worse than us I think...
-
I don't think we will go down, but I'm not expecting us to rise very much either. A season of transition if ever there was one. 13th-14th.
-
Top of the bottom.
-
This sums up my thoughts..

I would be happy with that, just not sure if it will happen. Think it depends largely on our start and how some of the signings settle.
-
14th.
