Post by: Hookeysmith on May 20, 2015, 09:11:47 PM
We don't say that too often but it seems they have got all nostalgic and plan to do an old school full day of FAC coverage

Good on them

People somehow forget the final is also on Libor Kozak's Birthday. Don't tell me his first touch after a broken leg being the goal that won the FA Cup isn't a better fairytale ;)

I'd love to tape it and watch it back when home but I didn't tape the Albion game and didn't tape the Lverpool game so don't want to jinx us.

I'll be able to get it all back on the I player won't I?

I don't think so. I think parts of it will be on the player, but if we win, I will want to watch all of it!

I will wait and see the quality of it before singing the BBC's praises. They have got a long, long way to go when it comes to giving football coverage of any quality.

BBC3 were interested in doing a piece on Villa fans on cup final day, when someone I know told me they were interested in me being on it I said "After the QF the BBC can go fuck themselves". Childish, yet satisfying at the same time.

The BBC3 thing was another 'fans as sad twats' angle. Cup final Grandstand, though, is a bit more serious.

I saw MOTD and they did a resume of the Cup final day itinary, and there at the bottom,  " Live - The FA Cup Final:  Arsenal v Aston Villa" - it just bought it home, right between the eyes.

Remember when you flicked back and forth between BBC and ITV to see who had the best coverage? I was always a BBC man for the final.

And why aren't the Banana Splits on? Or White Horses (was that the name?) at the very least?

I suspect the whole day was planned on the basis it would be. The BBC commentators will be busy spending the next week trying to recognise Villa players' names from old footage. Chris Waddle for R5 will be getting extra tuition on how not to describe us as 'these'

I think the teams should walk out to the whole crowd singing YNWA in homgae to the great man who's destiny was cruelly ripped away from him by those upstarts from Birminum.

If the Arse suddenly realise through despite their own arrogance that we ARE a genuine threat then expect on the Friday before the final or the very Saturday morning that Benteke is joining Arsenal in the newspapers to de-stabilise us.

Which is the best justification for the licence fee you could possibly get.

BBC = hegemony. When even Paxman believes the days of the license fee are  numbered, you know the gravy train is heading for the final countdown.

Based on who one of the others was, I fully expect the BBCs transmitters to breakdown and their Cup coverage cancelled.

Should it not be Aston Villa vs Arsenal as we are the 'home' team?

Its always alphabetical.
Title: Re: Fair play BBC

From Wiki...

"Following the semi-finals, both clubs met at Wembley to discuss final arrangements. Arsenal were designated as the "home" team because they were first alphabetically. Despite this, Aston Villa won the pre-match coin toss for choice of strips and chose to wear their home claret and blue kit that they had worn for all of the previous rounds. Arsenal decided to wear their yellow and blue away kit instead of their dark blue cup kit.[9]"

I always thought they tossed a coin as to whether it was home or away, which kit, etc etc. Oh well, learn something new everyday.

How much of this day of the FA Cup final will feature Villa ? It will be all about previous winners Man Ure, 'The Mighty Reds YNWA', 'Classic finals' any excuse to show more Spurz and Chavski I have no doubt there will be less than 30 minutes of Villa in the whole build up.

I'm hoping for a chorus of "F*ck the BBC & the F.A too" after the 1/4 final game. Mark Lawrenson could do with some verbals too he should remember the dark old days of the 80's he was playing at Heysel.
Above all though its about Villa and we should really rise above it but they have really made my blood boil between them.

Whilst it made the interviewer laugh a lot, I am confident my comments about him last night won't make it onto cup final Grandstand.

"What was it like to beat West Brom in the quarter final?"

"It was fantastic until I got home and saw what that tramp like, whining, piss flap Lawrenson had been poisoning the viewers with".

Much mirth.

"Shall we try again?"

My next response was "acceptable".

Then we tried again and I played nice. I am guessing that bit might be on telly.

Woodhall was a standout.

"Do you know the words to this song? "

"Yeah"

"Can you sing it for us? "

"Are you paying for the interview? "

"No"

"Bollocks  then"

Sadly, being the happy clappy Villa fan I am, I did agree to sing!

I am now mortified and realise the May 30th could simultaneously be the best and worst day of my life all at the same time.

I have checked & no-one else I know agreed to sing. I am hoping that they wanted to montage it and if I'm the only one, they won't use it (straws, clutching)

You know that really grinds with me how these well paid ex footballer pundits cannot pronounce the city name of Birmingham. Its ingham ngham  not Burminam there is clearly a big fucking G in the middle of it. Maybe everyone else should start saying lodon

The BBC line up is very unimpressive as to what could have been quite a  few of the shows will be repeats as already shown this coming week namely Gary's road to fa cup. The road to Wembley, are on BBC one Tuesday and Wednesday.
The 50 greatest moments of fa cup is a rehahsed repeat and old footage as is totp2 business. Rewind classics sets you in the mood but is cheap archive material.
Of course we all be liking to see the footage of 57 which they rolled out before and will have to hear same stuff as before.
I also feel the highlights sound be longer than advertised only  1050 pm to 1125 pm and will be if the game is an all time classic.
Underwhelming

The great thing is villa will be shown  all round the world and winning the cup will bring more fans ! More than half a billion viewers around the world to go with the 10 to 15 million in UK
