According to this list, the top 10 fastests players in the Premiership include- Alan Hutton. The 7th fastest in the league, and thus also quicker than Gabby. Our old boy Craig Gardner is the 9th quickest.
No you haven't stumbled into bizzaro world. But take a gander at this list. Aside from 1-2, I'm totally surprised, but ultimately sceptical about the validity of a list which has Phil Jagielka listed as quickest in a league in which he's regularly been roasted for pace this season. I recall Sol Campbell, in his mid-30's being high up on one of these lists in previous years too.
To be fair to Hutton though, once he cranks up through the gears he can cover a lot of ground.

I thought Gabby lost his blistering pace 2 years ago to be honest.

Gabby's looking more and more like he'd struggle in a footrace with Richard Dunne. In fact he appeared to do just that a couple of times last night!
It'd help if he lost that spare tyre he's gathering.
-
Slow, ponderous and lacking any genuine threat for 2-3 season now.
-
I'm not entirely sure what Gabby actually does anymore.

Steals Jack Grealish's lunch money probably and spends too much in the tuck shop.
-
I'd barely even call him a player these days
-
Someone brought up a comparison with Van Gaal on the other thread, and you can guarantee that, were he in Lambert's position, Grealish would be in the team and way ahead of Gabby.

I was saying before the game that I wouldn't have minded seeing Grealish play at the tip of a diamond, knowing that Lambert would never dream of offering us any width any way.
Get your best players close to Benteke and give him support.
-
If you nailed £50 notes to the finish line, Sasa Curcic would outrun any of this lot.

Based on what? Anytime I've seen him in the first team he looks nothing but a little boy lost.

Thank you!

That West Ham striker, Valencia looked fast against Man City. A City defender made a mistake at one point and Valencia was past him with the blink of an eye.

I doubt he knows what he's supposed to do either. That could go for the rest to the team too.
I can just imagine the conversation:
"Gabby, I want you out wide stretching them, giving us some width but you'll need to drop deep to pick up the ball so don't be afraid to drift. It's important that you're there to get the knock ons from Benteke when we pump the ball up to him. I need you to keep an eye on their central midfielder, keep it tight and don't give him any space and if he does get the ball, make sure you use your speed to chase back and get a tackle in."
Lions led by donkeys.

Last night basically getting in the way and pointing a lot. Dreadful display.

Football365 explains why this is bunkum:
Sportsmail can reveal the fastest player in the Barclays Premier League, and the name may surprise a few of you.
'Alexis Sanchez, maybe? Eden Hazard? Raheem Sterling, perhaps?
'No, the fastest player in the top flight so far in 2014-15 is Phil Jagielka. And here is the data that proves it.'
No fellas, here's some data from EA Sports that shows that several jobbing defenders - Jagielka, Ritchie de Laet, Alan Hutton and Joey O'Brien are in the Mail's top ten 'sprint kings' list - momentarily sprinted really fast when chasing much faster players who were travelling with the ball.
Mediawatch has seen O'Brien and Raheem Sterling run next to each other; that race saw O'Brien emerge with as much credit as EA Sports from this 'story'.
-
but still fast enough to put pen to paper on that totally unwaranted four year contract. Shocking decision.

Well, based on seeing him look quite good in the first team, actually. At least, that's what I saw.
-
Gabby? Blistering pace? No, he just plays like he has blisters.
-
Substitute quickest for thickest and he probably still is
-
Not sure if anyone has the stats, but I'd be interested to know our stats in games where Agbonlahor has started with the captain's hand.
Of course, the majority of us know the guy is hardly captain marvel material, but it seems to me that our most half-soaked performances crop up when Gabby is the skipper (although I know we tend to lose a lot of games these days anyway).
-
It's about time Gabby was loaned out.

Flogged more like.

I'm not entirely sure what Gabby actually does anymore.
He loves the Villa. That's about it.
-
Can this get nailed on the head once and for all? Gabby never started playing football till he was 14, he had pace and feck all else. He had no allegiance to us whatsoever.
-
I'm not entirely sure what Gabby actually does anymore.
Irritate people?
He simply no longer brings anything to the party. Him and Wiemann are both limited players, but at least Andi puts himself about. I just find it astonishing that Gabby has got away with being so limited for so long. Yes he's a Villa fan, but all of us on here are Villa fans. Doesn't mean we should all e guaranteed a place in the starting line up.
-
Gabby has not only lost his pace, but also his hunger, his ambition, he is drifting into the place where we have seen a few Villians go before, The I get paid and I dont give a fuck place.
-
The bloke is stealing a living.
-
Gabby is fucking chronic.
I have no idea where is supposed to be playing, but he doesn't create, score or offer any sort of threat. I have no idea how or why he is being picked.
-
Yet again.. Shite.
-
He put a lot work in defensively and he provided one great cross for Benteke fairly early on. Did some good sumo wrestling in their box from corners and free kicks too.
Too often when he gets the ball in an attacking position he seems to be looking to fall over.

I genuinely don't think he has a clue where he is playing. And he neither scores or creates, so frankly is a waste of space in that role. Please god can we sign 2 more forwards this January with the movement and invention of 20 minutes of Gil!
-
Gabby is shocking. He needs to be sold.

Agreed. The short sleeves and gloves thing got me.
-
if he play for a NFL team, he would be cut :(
-

Who'd buy him?
-
He just offers nothing in home games.
Can anyone think back over the last two years home games he's been great in?
At least away from home he puts in excellent performances now and again like Arsenal,Liverpool and Southampton last season although this season very little away from home apart from Liverpool again.

I don't care, let's give him away. I'm sure he can wash cars or something?
