I see that Luke Donald has missed out as a wildcard pick for this months competition, the 3 x wildcards being:Stephen Gallacher, Lee Westwood & Ian Poulter.
They will join:
McIlroy
Stenson,
Dubuisson
Donaldson,
Garcia,
Bjorn,
Rose,
Kaymer
McDowell
As usual looking forward to a great competition.
Who will win???
-
Donald is unlucky but you have to pick Poulter, the passion he has for Ryder Cup is amazing and he rarely fails to deliver.
Europe win again I reckon.
-
I think Donald knew what was coming - Gallacher was nailed on I think, he's a Scot and is in form. Poults was a given. Despite playing average golf recently, Westy has shown glimpses...
USA to go for Bradley, Webb Simpson and Mahan.
-
The US team

Mahan, Bradley, Simpson handed US wildcards as per Rotterdam's prediction
-
If only my gambling predictions were as accurate!
-
Love this, I just hope Europe wins as it is lovely beating the Americans... I don't know why it gets so competitive but there is not much else that compares to it.
-
Going to the last day, really looking forward to it, think it will be close but have to fancy Europe.
-
I'm there Saturday. Really looking forward to it.

Gulp, I seem to have some grit in my eye.......
-
Saw most of the excellent "Miracle at Medinah" the other night (on The Golf Channel IIRC) - Martin Kaymer was hilarious - he kept saying that he couldn't remember anything because he was so excited.
Go Yurp!
-
As we're approaching the Ryder Cup I thought it would be appropriate to post this.....
Seve the Legend
I challenge anyone not to shed a tear at the end.
-
Anyone else growing weary of Tom Watson's inability to understand a Scottish accent?

Anyone else growing weary of Tom Watson's inability to understand a Scottish accent?
I am certainly growing weary of BBC's very infantile hype - symphony of Medinah, what a load of utter tosh. The fact that I can't stand golf may have influenced my views on this I admit!!!
-
How well does Darren Clarke look?
-
Very which is nice to see.
-
Not sure about the football type chanting at the first tee.
-
McGinley needs to get his act together like Faldo and recuit DJ Spooney to improve morale
-
Poulter and Gallacher are really struggling.
-
Poulter and Gallacher are really struggling.
Gallacher dragging Poulter down to his level
Poulter may as well play them on his own
Gallacher stated pre-match that it was a lifetime ambition to be there..........wrong....it should be a lifetime ambition to be there and to win
-
Great from Rose and Henson, terrible from Gallacher and Poulter and a poor half from Kaymer and Bjorn.
-
Only watching the score updates at work but looks like McIlroy and Garcia have turned it around.
-
May have jinxed that! I've been disappointed with McIlroy he needs to up his game.
-
A lot of work for McIlroy and Garcia not to be going into the last 1 down now.
-
Excellent shot from McIlroy though secures halfing the hole.
-
Only watching the score updates at work but looks like McIlroy and Garcia have turned it around.
Gonna lose it on 18th
-
Really poor from McIlroy and Garcia. Both need to massively up their game.
-
1.5 - 2.5 to USA
Gonna be close, even the match ups in foursomes could go anyway. None of them could play the slowness of the greens this morning and Lee W does exactly the same on the first.
-
Not sure about the football type chanting at the first tee.
I was listening to the build up at 06:30 this morning and it sounded like half the crowd was pissed already.
One of the commentators made reference to 'champagne breakfasts' and whisky.
-
5-3, I'll take it. Could have been better, we let a couple slip away this morning. However, McIlroy and Garcia were hitting anything but the fairway with their drives, so they did well to get a half.
-
Great come back in the afternoon.
-
When Europe first went up by a point, the Golf Channel conveniently forgot to show the score as they went to the ad break....
-
Morning fourballs on Saturday
Rose & Stenson 07:35 Watson & Kuchar
Donaldson & Westwood 07:50 Furyk & Mahan
Bjorn & Kaymer 08:05 Reed & Spieth
McIlroy & Poulter 08:20 Walker & Fowler
-
I genuinely hope the USA team can make a game of this,
i'd rather be going into the final day all square than be 4 or 5 points ahead
-
Sod that, I hope we grind them into the ground.

I'm with you. It is exciting to watch when it comes down to the singles and the last match or two, but honestly the tension is unbelievable.
I played golf last week for the first time in about 12 months and the tees were a little backed up meaning we had people waiting as we took our first shots. I was literally shaking on the first tee, one of the most nerve racking things I have ever done, which is ridiculous.
-
Back from a school DofE trip and have just caught up on events; good day.
I've gone for Europe by 3 or 4 points.
-
Sod that, I hope we grind them into the ground.
Nah, I love a bit of tension, not keen on dead rubbers
If we've all but won it by tomorrow night the Americans won't give a shit, they just shrug and head of back to the states, if they lose on a cliff hanger, they will be proper pissed
-
good first day, could (and should) have been a bigger lead but Garcia and Mcilroy struggled and Bjorn and Kaymer really should've won from where they were.
All that said, the putt by mcilroy on 17 and the 2nd shot by Garcia on the last were something a bit special, 3 and 2 (respectively) in the shots of the day for me, behind Bradley's 2nd on the 16th in the morning session.
-
After their display I find it bizarre that McDowell and Dubuisson aren't playing in the morning foursomes.
-
It's fourballs this morning Mr Winch; I guess they may be paired again this afternoon though.
Reed's wedge-drive at the first made me chuckle. All golfers have been there!
-
Oh yeah! It's been an interesting start, excellent from Poulter.
-
I think Bubba is my current favourite golfer to watch...
-
Justin Rose having a great day so far. Bloody awesome putting.
-
If Europe go in tonight 4 points ahead, they might as well not bother tomorrow.
It'll be a forgone conclusion with the shit golfers America have got
-
America are rubbish, Spieth &Reed the only ones who are trying

I'm pretty sure that's what Americans were thinking at Medinah 2 years ago, but I hope you're right.
I do wish Woods was picked as a wild card, he has been shocking as a Ryder Cup player in every tournament he's played in, he just doesn't get it.

Derek Jeter's flying over to save the day tomorrow.

Run his batting stats by me again. Something like every 6 or 7 times someone throws a ball at him he manages to hit it? And he calls himself a professional ball player?

In my view America have got zero chance tomorrow
It's the worst team that I can remember, they have no heart for the fight
What's more they haven't come to terms with the coarse and conditions, the greens are to slow and they are to cold, their Wife's are dressed up like they are doing a treck to the North Pole
They were out there embarrassing themselves today, missing two foot puts and playing generally crap especially in the afternoon
They won't turn it round, they just arnt good enough
-
Did anyone catch this story about McDowell and Dubuisson DESTROYING Fowler and Walker?
Victor Dubuisson is a monster. (http://www.cbssports.com/golf/eye-on-golf/24726379/ryder-cup-dubuisson-mcdowell-destroy-fowler-walker)

Tom Watson looked like an abandoned man in the wilderness after today's play - felt really bad for him. They've really let him down. Made me feel bad for taking the piss out of him.
Now they'll go and win it, the wankers.
-
USA are available at around 8/1. Can't see it myself; they've played poorly and seem to lack fight. As usual, the only chance is to 'get red on the board' early.
Big Phil apparently begged to play yesterday; could be his last RC.

Watson is one of very few men big enough to say no to Phil, with what he's won he can do what he likes his reputation is secure,
Although I bet Watson still has a few regrets a bout his pairings in the afternoon

Is Monty golfs equivalent of DOL ?

Faldo is

Not looking great at the moment.....
-
Looking better!
-
Garcia should be battering Furyk all day long. Still think he'll win this pairing.
-
Donaldson's second into the green deserved to win something all on it's own.
-
Looking on the Beeb site it looks like Europe won, is that right?
-
Should we consider letting the Americans have some help seeing as it's got so one-sided? Maybe Europe v rest of the world?
-

Beat me to it, Jon. The lad has been superb and that was the cherry on the cake. Brilliant stuff.
-
So 16-11 in Europe's favour with one match still on. A nice comfortable win.
-
Europe have pissed this.
-
Excellent performance.
-
Every time we beat the USA I think of the Brookline green invasion and smile.
-
Lovely stuff!
-
Mickelson might have been better sleeping on this . Smacks of washing your dirty laundry in public.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/golf/29404756
-
Poor class from Lefty, quite unlike him really. Shame.
-
Seems like a pitch for the next captaincy, seeing how desperate they are.
-
Very poor form from Mickelson.
-
I think it will prove to be Phil's last RC, certainly as a player. It was most unlike him and smacks of sour grapes after Watson left him out on Saturday.
Overall, I would say a good but not great RC. Some of the golf was spectacular though and Gleneagles put on a great show.
Did anyone else think that SKY's coverage was average, indeed crap after it was confirmed we had won?
-
That fucking woman who presented the opening and closing ceremonies was utterly dreadful.
A lot has been made of Europe's team ethos by comparison to the Yanks. I would love to see the caddies on stage to lift the cup.
-
That fucking woman who presented the opening and closing ceremonies was utterly dreadful.
Too right - she'll end up on the bloody dancing shite as they usually do.
-
The thing is, Mickelson's timing may have been poor and it may have been aimed at an absolute legend, but he was right wasn't he?
-
Yes.
-

You don't throw someone under the bus like that.

Maybe not, but the Americans only have a short while to get their act together and learn some very harsh lessons before they have to start thinking about appointing their team for the next one. Mickleson's words might just be a Godsend if they give them the massive kick up the arse they need.
-
Mickelson's message was essentially correct, but delivering whilst sitting next to Tom Watson wasn't particularly fair.
-
Mickelson has made a complete bell end of himself. You keep comments like that behind closed doors.
