Straightforward question
-
Why bring up the question after two games?
-
Johnny might be referring to his driving licence.
-
I think it's a good, season long thread that hopefully we can close by march. Maybe that should be the question, when will we be able to close this thread. I am going for mid April.
-
Ok, fair enough. I'm going for March. We'll end up with around 53 points and 10th.
-
Why bring up the question after two games?
Sorry, didn't realise I needed your permission to ask a question, was there a specific point in time you had in mind that I can ask the question?
In answer to your question, I was wondering how people were feeling with regard to our prospects this season. Obviously if you think we'll be at 40 points by end of March you are probably expecting a mid table finish and a comfortable end to the season, February would suggest top half and perhaps a challenge for a european place.
Naturally I WILL consult with you before asking any more questions.
-
Early April
-
I'm goin for January
-
I'm goin for January
Snap.
-
Why bring up the question after two games?
Perhaps because we are already 10% there already!
-
Sunday. We'll be awarded 33 bonus point for smashing Hull out of sight.

Surely if you can ask a straightforward question then so can Toronto?
-
We'll be coasting to a 60+ point total and the wheels will come off in February.
-
Though its been a promising start, we've played two average teams. Think its gonna be another mid april affair.
-
with strikers January, with whats playing the last two games longer but we'll get there I opted for March, as Gabby and Handy Andi aint exactly prolific.

Sorry, the righteous indignation BS was meant in jest. Didn't come accross very well. Although I did ,in fact, answer Toronto's question. No offence intended.

April
-
Feb.
-
End of March for me, but I have been known to be wrong in my time.
-
We'll never get past 20 points, we'll be blown to dust by Putin on November 14th. Have fun whilst you still can.
-
Less than 40, same old, same old for me.
Yes I am a misery guts, got a stinking cold....still think we will stay up again.
-
Mid-April ... Which isn't an option on the poll but there you go.

Hard to disagree.
-
March.
-
Mid April.
As ever there are so many poor teams in the premier league so from thinking relegation was a foregone conclusion earlier this summer I've changed my mind.
-
May 2016
-
I agree May 2016 but out of LC Aug 2014
-
Never.
-
We will be lucky to get near last years 38. We are more solid but we scare no one and have been beaten by so many lower league sides in the past two years that, if we got relegated we would not come back. The only reason we stay up is because there are a few worse or unluckier teams below us each season.
-
He meant 40 pints
-
Lambert's putting into practice McLeish's theory of "aim for 38 draws and anything else is a bonus".
-
38 draws? That's a stretch for this clown.
-
This year has reminded me a lot of the TSM's year in charge, something has to change.
-
If our home form doesn't improve 40 points may be a tall order.
-
Lambert's putting into practice McLeish's theory of "aim for 38 draws and anything else is a bonus".
It is a strange departure from the swashbuckling score at all costs first season. Very strange, but much to do with Gabby and Weimann being found out in the wider roles than anything else.

Both of them will probably get a winner apiece this season which will earn them another four years of coasting at the club's expense.

Hasn't helped that Benteke has been out a lot. Gabby and Weimann setting up Benteke is so much better than having to rely on those two to score goals. Also Benteke does so much more than just score. He sets up and he creates space. Without him we look lost up front. Completely lost.
-
I take the point on Weimann and gabby. But relying on two players to be your creative attacking players, when they have very poor technical ability, is worrying
A win against hull and I'm not too despondent. And it's a winnable game. But two shots on target and one goal in three games is not an encouraging stat. At all!
I predict that in one of our upcoming tough games we may fail to have a shot on or off target at all

have we failed to get the ball in the box yet? If not, it will happen with Lambert

YESTERDAY I SAID WE'D DO IT BY MARCH, :( we may cut it a bit finer than that though, im thinking we'll reach 40 points by some time in 2016, (gallows humour) im fucking hurting
-

On last night's performance, 53 points looks extremely optimistic unless Lambert buys a couple of useful players before the window closes.
-
Quite incredible.
How a cup game in August featuring fringe players, not to mention still missing our main striker relates to where we will finish in the league is beyond me.
Four points from 6 in the league, none conceded. We will beat Hull on Sunday, but the sad fact is many want us to lose just to fuel their hatred of Lambert and perpetuate their general negative outlook on life.
UTV.
-
I agree with those saying mid April for 40 points.
-
Here we go again. Somebody with 80 posts claiming that clear fact based criticsm of our manager constitutes "hating" him.
-
And, moreover that we want Villa to lose. It is because we lose so much that we are of the opinion that Lambert is a very poor manager.
-

Does it matter how many posts he's made?

Can you please explain to me what relevance my post count has?

if its a low count and it supports Lambert, I automatically think its Randy.

Show me where I have supported Lambert?
Just because I do not possess the negative attitude having not lost either of our first two league games, does not constitute me being a Lambert supporter, I was simply trying to put another view on the situation.
I will remain a low poster, as any attempt at positivity on here gets met with gang like mentality and the predictable and boring "it is Randy" in disguise.
UTV.
I will remain a viewer and not a contributor.
Randy.
-
I think he's joking, Mr. Lerner.

I hate Lambert, think he's an absolutely clueless twat without an ounce of tactical nouse and the worst manager we've had. For some unfathomable reason he's living a charmed life with Randy despite consistently demonstrating that he's completely out of his depth at Villa. I absolutely fucking hate him but I've never wanted Villa to lose a game in order to hasten his demise. And I don't think anyone else has either.
I suppose you could dismiss last night as a mere cup game in August but it could also be described as one of only 2 chances of a day out at Wembley being chucked away after just one week of the season. Fuck off Lambert
-
You hate Lambert? Really?
-
Can't see us scoring 40 goals let alone 40 points.

You're disappointed when the sun rises ever morning though.

There are three chances of a day out at Wembley, four if you count thw Community Shield.

-
5 chances surely for 4 possible trips? Title winners or Fac Cup winners for charity shield makes 2. FA cup semi, FA cup final, League Cup final.
-
Absolutely no chance of a day out at Wembley as long as Lembit Opik is our manager
-

Yes there are five, unfortunatley only 3 teams will realistically win the title whereas anyone can get to semis and finals, but you are correct, there are five.

Cheeky Cheeky.
-
Ooo i hope we lose on Sunday. Maybe he'll finally get sacked ay? I'm a rubbing me hands with glee.

5 chances, for 4 trips? Are we talking about shots on target? Achieve that and it would be a miracle Lambert.
-
I'm going for February. The end of February, though.
-
Safe to say you won't be needing 40 points to stay up this season.
-
You reckon?
I think you will.
-
Palace, West Brom and Burnley getting 40 points this season?
-
Palace got a 3-3 at Newcastle today, Burnley I agree, WBA will get about 41 they are jammy gits and will get Irvine out by Christmas.
-
Yeah obviously pending on management changes, Sunderland are another one I'd put down there as like us I don't see a lot of goals in their line up.
I was very pessimistic earlier this summer like so many but as long as our defence dosen't suddenly collapse we will nick enough games to be fine as there are plenty of poor teams again in the premier league.
-

Find a way of scoring and we won't have to worry.
-
With Palace I don't see them winning as many games under Warnock as they would've under Pulis.
I think the 3 they conceded today against Newcastle gives an indication they'll be a bit more loose at the back so that would mean they'll struggle to win too many to be comfortable mid table.
-

I really don't see us bringing another striker in tbh so need to wait until October till Benteke hopefully comes back.

Struggling to score just puts more pressure on the defence to keep a clean sheet. There will inevitably be times where we fail to score but we need to at least look like we're capable of scoring in any game.
-
Tbf we looked capable of scoring v Stoke so I'm not too worried about away games and scoring. It's just our tactics and personnel at home that fail us time and again.
-
I think it is going to be really tight for the 3rd spot. I think Leicester, Burnley, QPR, Villa, Albion, Sunderland and Palace are all in that fight. West Ham have bought some decent players and should be ok, Stoke I would include but Hughes seems to find a way somehow.
-
Almost impossible to say at this stage. We almost had 40 by the end of March last time so I went for end of March this time.
