Post by: Legion on July 29, 2014, 07:06:43 PM
If you could sit down and chat with any Aston Villa player (dead or alive), which one would it be and what would you ask them?

That would be some claim to fame, Brian. Or should I call you Prince Brian?

Regarding ancestry tracing my sister is obsessed with it. However, she spends all her time trying to get the City of Chicago to accept that she, my brother and I are the legal owners of Cook County. Why she can't do something useful like proving a double winning Villa hero is our kin is beyond me. Comes of marrying a bloody bluenose.

There are lot more deserving players that should be aimed at. Limited ability but he worked his arse off.

I can only think of Ireland who was paid so much for being so rubbish, so feel taylorsworkrate's original point was valid.

Of my father's cousin, Billy Evans, I'd ask: "why, after only 7 games (3 goals) for your local heroes, AVFC, did you not stay and fight for your place instead of following Eric H to Notts County?"

I realise he was competing with the then biggest signing, Trevor Ford, but nonetheless ...

Ivo, I was not only one of the few that saw you play for Villa but I also saw you scoring in that game, a friendly at Witney Town in summer 1991. Do you remember it as vividly as I do?

I was at that game, so having endured 90 minutes of bricking myself and thinking, we will have these back at VP, he did that.

We had a pretty weak team out that day aswell.

Robert Hopkins

So Bob my old royster doyster, when the Birmingham Mail wheel you out for derby predictions and you always come out with the line "Most people don't remember that when I left school I played for Villa until I got a proper job" do you not think that if, as opposed to being below the car park attendants in the pecking order for a first team place for the reigning European Champions you were actually a first team regular that we don't all know that wild horses wouldn't have dragged to to Small Heath?

How proud are you of being the only player/fan of a top flight football club to score the own goal that means your beloved club get beat at home in the FA cup to a non league side? Did you celebrate by doing that silly handstand you used to like doing? Do you think it was the best goal ever scored past David Seaman, beating Gazza, Nayim and Ronaldino. Because us Villa fans would vote for yours every time son.

When you celebrated the honour of being a non used sub in the Leyland Daft Cup final of '91 by throwing your tracky top into the crowd and then made an appeal in The Evening Mail for the fifty quid back that you forgot was in the pocket, did you not think that was a bit petty?

Exciting though wasn't it? Was just thinking the other day about those times. So often we 'd get home thinking 'Christ we could have been killed there', yet there was never any consideration given to not actually going to the next away game.
