Title: Mansfield Away: Line-up Competition
Post by: RussellC on July 16, 2014, 01:23:06 PM
Right. I'm so confident that no-one will be able to accurately predict our starting XI tomorrow night, that I'm prepared to offer ten whole English pounds to the first person who can.

If more than one of you are correct I'll take the earliest post. Midnight tonight is the cut-off (obviously earlier should the team be announced today).

You'll need to get the Captain right too, oh and have a PayPal account (I'm not prepared to post anything!). I'll start the ball rolling;

Steer; Lowton, Okore, Clark, Richardson. Bacuna, Westwood, Delph (C). Agbonlahor, Wiemann, Cole.

Go.

I'd like to see how Donacien does, Grealish and Carruthers. Obviously huge welcome back for Okore and N'Zogbia who I imagine will feature, and another chance for Gardner. Cole will be interesting just to see how he lines up. He's an intelligent player so I want to see his influence on the team.

Wouldn't be amazed if there were about 7 substitutions at half time.

I think Grealish, Robinson and Donacien are all playing for the U21s tonight so can't see them playing tomorrow too.

You'll never win anything with that side! Withe is past it, Geddis is a better option. Why we spent £500K on him is beyond me. Ron and the Bendalls have wasted our money again! We're in for a season of below par performance if you ask me. We'll exit both cups in the first round for a start.

Would personally prefer to see Siegrist in ahead of Steer, he looks a better keeper from what I've seen of them both.

Most of our players tend to be quite forgettable these days, in fairness.

Thinking of possible line-ups we look very toothless up front. Need to get someone* in at least as cover till Kojak and Benteke come back.

* This someone should not be a former Birmingham City and Arsenal employee with the initials NB who never, ever scores.

No mention of one guess per person in the T&C so i'm off to work out every possible potential lineup. You will be mine £10, you will be mine.

Given, Luna, Keane, Herd, Messi, Ki, Kiyotake, Kobayashi, Kole - sorry, Cole - Bendtner, Benteke + runner
Sub: Young

Playing a seldom seen formation of 1 1 5 3.  All or nuffin.
(Borrowed the runner from cricket, for a player about to come back from injury who can't put himself about that much.  Could catch on.)

A surprise appearance by the Assistant Manager.  A surprise to the team as well, who all thought Bennett was playing.
And including Our Lionel who turned up in his car outside VP tonight, saying, 'I want to sign up, I believe in Lambert's vision; put the Golden Ball in the trophy room, I'm so upset about the World Cup, we wuz robbed and I wuz misrepresented and knackered. Who else is going to want me now?  Oh, and may I introduce you to Ashley, my satnav?'

Well - who do you think is going to be captain?

Stallone (expert at saving penalties)

Bruce "Bruno" Willis
Mr T (in the first team, because you obviously can't put Mr T, in the B team can you?)
Arnold Schwarzenegger (Nicknamed...yep...The Terminator)
Jet Li

Mel Gibson (has to play right wing...obviously)
Vinnie Jones (Captain)
Jean Claude Van Damme (midfield muscles...from Brussels).
Wesley Snipes (first player since Pennant to wear a tag during matches. Likes his wages sent to an offshore account for tax purposes).

Dolph Lundgren (The big man. Likes to break the opposition)
Jackie Chan (The little man. Regularly pulls corner flags out and starts attacking opposition with it, and any other stray items on or near the pitch)

Bench-
Steven Seagal (Left back...in the changing room eating pies. The new Grant Holt).
Jason Statham (Back up goalkeeper)
Michael Dudikoff (Cheap signing. Shit)
Don The Dragon Wilson (as above).
Mo Salifou.
Benni McCarthy (finally here. Wondered in, lost and confused like a stray dog. Lambert adopted him).

There's been some pretty ridiculous suggestions on this thread, but, come on. Salifou in the squad?

I know. I thought I took it too far with that suggestion. Everyone knows that Salifou was a figment of our collective imaginations. An entirely fictional character. The order goes, Jesus H C, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth fairy and Mo Salifou.
