Title: Get behind your football team
Post by: lovejoy on April 15, 2014, 07:16:59 AM
Having seen the crowd turn late on at Palace I am concerned that this will happen earlier, and with more involved on Saturday. We all know the situation is bad, the manager and squad struggling and those below us picking up points. None of us want relegation - the financial implication could see us in the wilderness for a decade.

We need to circle the wagons and get behind the team to take us over the line in the next 3 games. Our squad is fragile on confidence at best and prolonged anger aimed at the manager will only serve to make relegation more likely.

I respect your right to boo, do so after the game. Believe me a fall in ST sales will give the club management the message.

Get behind your football team, the club needs your support now more than ever.

I will be at work on Saturday but plan to boo at my colleagues during the afternoon. If any of them let me know the score from their phones and we are losing I will boo them even louder, then probably punch them and get sacked.

As much as I am sick to death of what's going on at my club, Lovejoy is absolutely spot on.

We need to see total commitment from the team, which without doubt will get the fans 100% behind them.

But you think back to games like QPR and Sunderland towards the end of last season, crucial games where the result meant more than the performance, and the fans played a major part in the wins.

Chants of We want Lambert out or You're not fit to wear the shirt aren't going to help, no matter how frustrated we all feel.

Boo Lambert certainly, but getting on the players backs during a game is counter productive to surviving relegation, IMO of course.

I like this idea, but im going to do it gradually. I've got a quiet boo going right now and i'm going to crank it up day by day until Kick Off Saturday then im going to release a crescendo of boo's.

I have been down 3 times this season and just seen utter shite each game, so i am going tro manage my lads under 8s team , see more passing and enthusiasm from them and then go at sort my garden out and pass another sigh of hear we go again when results come around at 4.52 on BBC

I just cannot be arsed any more

Spot on Lovejoy and this message needs to spread to other forums.  We've fifteen points to play for and - as daft as this season has been - we can still finish the season midtable in a position that improves on last year's.  To echo PF's statement (I know, I know) of the other day, when we all stick together and push in the same direction we are a pretty formidable football club.

We need that siege mentality back and it's down to us to lift the team over the line.  We've no Benteke or Kozak to chip in with the goals which means it's time for some other lads to come of age and grab their chance.  I'm very positive that we can finish the season in a higher position than last but we have to stick together and fight for the club.

I have been to 8 games this season and have only seen one half arsed cup win against lower league opposition (I know, that in itself is an achievement). I reckon ive had the chance to go to 13-14 but just cant be arsed having half my weekend ruined by this infernal shite any longer. whether there are 33000 there or 33001 wont make much difference to the team so ill be sat at home watching on a dodgy internet stream. I just hope beyond hope that the manager and players can put a performance together for those that do make it because we have been short changed massively this season and there will be some there that have been comewhatever - they deserve better.

I know Villa Park will be 100% behind the team if they put out a performance like Arsenal earlier in the season. We clapped and cheered the team on all game and clapped them off the pitch despite a disappointing result. There will be 11men and their manager who will decide if they have the fans behind them on Saturday, no one else. Rallying crys from Lovejoy and Faulkner are all good and meant with the best intentions but we arent sheep. I was at the Bolton game and moved heaven and high earth to get there because the team needed it. The support was fantastic for a while but we know how that ended (I honestly stood in silence) To this day that is my worst experience of supporting Villa

I don't want to get behind them anymore. They owe us a performance. Show us, at the very least the old 110%. Until I see that I reserve and have time served the right to boo and moan as much as I want.

An early goal and I will change my mind of course. Either way I will renew my season ticket, but I don't need Smithers telling me to back em, who does he think he is?

Most games they play like feeble-minded wimps, it might actually put some fire in their guts (Please not you though Baker)

35000 turn up every week to see Villa win, not to boo them. How about Lerner, Lambert and the players meeting their side of the bargain and pulling their effing fingers out. Patronising and insulting drivel from Faulkner makes me want to punch him. Funny how the fans are suddenly so important now Lambert has dragged us down with the dead men in the league but we were irrelevant when we tried to tell the club that Mcleish would be a bad appointment.

The club are very lucky that the crowd have stayed onside for so long.

I'm sure the crowd will get behind them on Saturday simply because they have to. I don't blame anyone who got angry down at Palace though, we were so dire.

Chico post is nail on head

Im amazed the fans keep turning up for that shite . I , like a few can pick our games , thou after what I witnessed live , it was awful and said I would not go again , I get offered free tickets quite a lot but actually dread that call now , the excitement has gone

.  But the season ticket holders have been brilliant and Im suprised they did not start getting pissed off alot earlier than they did.

Nobody is going to go to the match with the intention of booing anyone, i'm sure. But it wont take much ineptitude on the pitch for the atmosphere to charge quickly.

And that can't be the supporters fault. It's not a one way deal after all. All season, and last we've got 30k plus (well mainly) in backing a woeful side and manager. We've pretty much held up our side of the bargain without fault.

If things get nasty this weekend it wont be the supporters fault that it's reached a head.

amen.

it was notable how many of the players ignored the support on saturday and ambled to the dressing rooms.

i can only remember vlaar, delph and guzan acknowledging the fans.

I applaud the sentiments of the opening post, because this team is so shite at the moment I think the only hope we have of dragging the few extra points we need is with our support at it's fervant and hostile best.

We can do it when we put our minds to it, the support at the back end of last season was outstanding.

I fully expect there will be great support at the start of the game. Depending on how the match goes from there the atmosphere will either soar or go sour.

I don't think anyone turns up to have a go at the manager or the team but once the game is lost I think fans are entitled to vent their frustrations.
