Title: Team/formation for last 6 games
Post by: Richard on April 07, 2014, 07:01:51 PM
Ok just in case we do need 1 win or a couple of draws to stay up what's the best our manager can put out ?

I would go for a solid looking 4 5 1 :

Guzan

Lowton
Vlaar
Clark
Bertrand

Albrighton
Bacuna
Westwood
Delph
Gabby

Holt

4-3-2-1

Guzan
Lowton
Vlaar
Donacien
Bertrand
Westwood
Delph
Graham
Robinson
Albrighton
Agbonlahor

I wouldn't trust baker or ever again in the starting XI, graham has the ability to put full backs on the floor any day of the week, he's been doing it for years, people are only just starting to know his name, Robinson is scoring goals in the u21's and surely can't be any worse than weimann, let gabby play up top on his own, where he may get some goals

Guzan

Lowton Vlaar Clark Bertrand

El Ahmadi Westwood

Bacuna Delph Albrighton

Gabby

Alternative would be Delph alongside Westwood and Holt or
Weimann with Gabby in a front two.

I like it. Ballsy and potentially exciting.

Won't happen in a million years, but I like it. I'd like to see some of the kids getting game time. They're playing and winning for the 21's, and actually playing football. I'd add Johnson into the squad too, over Sylla.

I'd go with...

                 Guzan
Delph - Delph - Delph - Delph
       Delph - Delph - Delph
     Delph - BOWERY - Delph

Oh - thought this was guessing what the formation has been for our last 6 games

Absolute bollocks!
Delph is a brilliant 'keeper and the second best striker at the club!

Bacuna Delph Albrighton

Gabby

Yeah I'd go along with that team.  I wonder how near to full fitness Okore is because I'd really rather not have to be reliant on either Clark or Baker.  I thought Holt probably did well enough on Sunday to keep his place, so would probably have Gabby either on the bench or instead of Albrighton.  I personally would like to see Gardner have a run of games in the side, but doubt that will happen.

He's injured again.

Poor kid needs 12 months on loan somewhere to get his body strong enough to play regular football.

As for the team:

Guzan

Lowton Vlaar Clark Bertrand

Bacuna Delph KEA Albrighton

Holt Gabby

I would go 4-4-2 and have the option if in front to go more defensive. The 4-3-3 shite clearly does not work at home under any circumstance. Bacuna and Albrighton down the sides getting the ball in for Holt and Gabby.

Actually I don't think we should bother with a formation as it doesn't seem to have worked lately so why not try something else?

I'd maybe ask the players to perform a ballet interpretation of the Global Banking Crisis.

While the Palace players get confused, wondering whether that last pirouette was a critique of consumer capitalism or if it was a reference to the sad disappearance of Keynesianism, we pounce.

Guzan... THUD!... Holt... THWACK!... Bowery... CRUNCH... GOOOOAAAAAALLLL!!!

And there shall be much rejoicing.

Hadn't seen that Dave.  Poor kid has had terrible luck with injuries, almost to the point where you wonder about the impact it must be having on him both physically and mentally.

I can't see it anywhere but I'm certain I read it at the weekend.

I think this would be first on MOTD and Sky Arts.
And we would win, so AVTV as well.
Result. Bring it on.

Fantastic imagination. Puncheon and Chamakh look as thick as pig muck so that's their forward line outfoxed for starters.

If only it were as simple as writing down GK + three numbers that add up to 10 and putting names against the numbers.

I'd go -

Guzan

Lowton
Vlaar
Donacien (can't be any worse than the other two)
Bertrand

Delph
Westwood
KEA/Bacuna

Albrighton
Helenius/Robinson
Gabby

I know it's not what will happen but I'd like to go with it.  If we're putting out a similar team to the one we fielded Saturday, I'd struggle to see how we can win another game this season (even with Delph & Gabby back in).  If the first team is so poor & lacking in composure in the final 3rd what would it hurt to give a couple of younger lads like Robinson/Graham a go?  If they can't get in the team now, I fear they never will.  Same applies to Donacien, who I rate very highly.

I think it depends who we're playing that particular day. This Saturday for instance might be a game for Holt against a Tony Pulis team. Gabby through the middle might be best against Southampton.

I think it will be be Guzan, Bertrand, Lowton, Vlaar and Baker at the back.

KEA, Westwood and Delph in midfield, with Gabby, Bacuna and Holt up front.

IMO, Bacuna needs too much time on the ball to play that far up that pitch, his touch isn't tight enough to create chances in those areas from what I've seen.
