It's that time of year again, the third round draw is this weekend.
So then, who would you like or who do you reckon we'll get?
-
I'd like a new ground to tick off the list personally, so somewhere like Brentford, Brighton or Peterborough away.
-
Hope we get Man United again.
-
Coventry away. Let's see how many of them boycott that one!
-

Brentford - the only league ground in the country with a pub situated at every corner?
edit - to be honest, after a Friday night at Millwall last January, I'm ready for anything the draw can throw up
-
Coventry away. Let's see how many of them boycott that one!
If playing us is Albion's Cup Final, I dread to think what it'd mean to Coventry.
I almost hope it happens, just to cheer up their fans for a bit, after what they've been going through.
-
Home to a lower division side please- or on 2nd thought make that away!
-
Coventry away. Let's see how many of them boycott that one!
Was going to say the same thing!
-
Can I aslo add, that this is our season for the Cup.
-
Hope we get a home draw so that we can hopefully take my missus and her 90 year old granddad along.
Failing that, I'd like Brentford (are they still in it?), so that I can visit those 4 pubs, or Stourbridge.
Come to think of it, any non-league team would be good.
-

It would certainly put the cat among the pigeons - possibly the only game to tempt many of them them to sixfields.
Interesting to see they took over 7,000 away to Milton Keynes yet get less than 3,000 at 'home'.
-
Anyone know what time the draw takes place ?
-
Crawley (if they beat Bristol Rovers this weekend) at home so we can renew acquaintances with John Gregory
-

ITV are showing Tamworth v Bristol City 2.00 on Sunday - 3rd round draw live after the game

Millwall was horrendous. A horrible game, a horrible place and they were a horrible bunch of bastards.
Yes, Coventry away would be interesting. Brentford would be good, having been past it on the way into London loads of times. Any ground to tick off the list would be good really.
-
Hope - Blose home
Gut feeling - Spurs home
-
I wouldn't mind the chance to knock Bradford out if they are still in it.
-
Stourbridge at VP please
They could afford to put some decent seats in then.
-
As ever, I hope for a home tie against somebody shit, four times in succession.
-
Anyone sh*t at home.
-
Anyone sh*t at home.
We're shit at home.
*Baddum bish*
-
OK, anyone shitter than us at home.
-
The winner of Tamworth v Bristol City please. If it's City I'd prefer to be away as Bristol is a straightforward city to get to and would be a decent day out...so long as they don't fuck about with the kick-off time.
-
OK, anyone shitter than us at home.
Not sure I fancy a Second City Derby.
-
Any non-league teams left in?
-
Stourbridge at home please.
-
Agreed, Dave. But where would you sit?
-
Somebody of noteworthy shitness at hum.
-
Anyone who doesn't fancy it on the day.
-
We haven't played Blackburn in the cup for ageeeeeeeeessssssssss.
Or Man. United.
Seriously either Tamworth if they get through or Walsall would do me. Bit of local spice which is what the cup is all about.
-
OK, anyone shitter than us at home.
this for me
-
Kidderminster Harriers away. Would be a cracker of a game.
-
For superstitious reasons if anybody can work it out I would like Luton away, but they are already out.
So I want Dover Athletic away.
If we lost you can be out the country within a couple of hours of the full time whistle.
-
Jimmy White home or Away
He looked past it last night on the google box
-
OK, anyone shitter than us at home.
this for me
We've got more chance of winning if we're away....
-
I can't earn any money if we're away.
-
Blues at home, I've never seen us play them and want to experience it once before they liquidate.
-
Brighton away for me. Good day out in town and on the train out to the ground
-
I'd like my Dad's team Huddersfield, away.
Think most fans would also enjoy the away day as their ground is similar to Wigan's and we'd take the whole of behind the goal.
Failing that, a local derby like Walsall or Coventry.
-
Nah, Blues away. We would be given the entire Agbonlahor End and probably stand a better chance of smashing them.
Plus it would be hilarious to know that the thousands they make from that one game (as they actually get a crowd and some TV money) was the cash that kept them afloat.
-
I don't want them to be kept afloat though so feck him.
If we never had to play them again i wouldnt care less quite frankly.
-
Plus it would be hilarious to know that the thousands they make from that one game (as they actually get a crowd and some TV money) was the cash that kept them afloat.
I wouldn't bank on it with them, remember a couple of seasons back under Houllier when they only mustered around 21k against us?
-
I wouldn't wish liquidation on any club; even the Noses.
-
Blues at home, I've never seen us play them and want to experience it once before they liquidate.
No thanks.
-
Crawley. Would be nice to get them at VP.
-
Blues at home, I've never seen us play them and want to experience it once before they liquidate.
No thanks.
I've lost count of the number of times I've experienced it since the first time in 1980. Think one of those American TV shows or films when a character has to spend a few hours in a jail cell with the ugliest, roughest, moodiest bunch of criminals you could imagine.
-
never want to play small heath ever again I hope they go bump and we never see them again.
oh one more thing hate Tesco-bags more
-
Crawley or Brighton away, for purely geographical reasons.
-
Home game, don't care who.
-
Home game, don't care who.
I want this as my best mate (who has no interest in football) has asked to attend a match with me for some bizarre reason and I thought the FA Cup the best introduction for some reason.
-
never want to play small heath ever again I hope they go bump and we never see them again.
I'm not sure i'd want them to go bump, but it wouldn't bother me if we never played them again either.
-
Brentford as it's walking distance. Although of the legendary pubs on each corner, three are really shit.
-
Crawley at home would be romantic, but we'll get Newton Heath.
-
Don't think I've ever seen 'Crawley' and 'romantic' in the same sentence before.
-
Bradford please, don't care where we play them.
-
Don't think I've ever seen 'Crawley' and 'romantic' in the same sentence before.
I have, but the sentence also included the word "not".
-
never want to play small heath ever again I hope they go bump and we never see them again.
oh one more thing hate Tesco-bags more
same here. I don't care for them and quite frankly we're on a hiding to nothing. If we lose we have to hear about it and because we rarely play them now the chance of correcting things won't be as forthcoming. For me, the noses are irrelevant and I'd be happier to see them dumped out of the cup by a non league team who we then go and batter in the next round.
-
I have often heard ' Crawley' and 'corrupt wankers' in the same sentence though, and the word 'not' did not appear.
-
As an aside I'm disappointed Tamworth are playing just half an hour after we start our game, will probably catch the last 20 mins but would've liked to have watched that in full (yes I know you can do that in + 1 ITV but I need to nip back from the pub)
Have you sold out Dave? If not I'd say us playing on tv on the same day has probably affected things.
-

Nah, wasn't expecting to.
Tamworth have a hardcore of about 800 fans and Bristol City aren't big enough to entice all of the gloryhunters out of the pub.
Should get about 3000 I reckon (capacity of 4100).
-
Crawley at home would be romantic, but we'll get Newton Heath.
Stab in the dark but you've never been to Crawley have you?
If I owned hell and Crawley I'd rent out Crawley and live in hell.
Incidentally if we do draw them, a stab in the dark is quite likely.
-
Swindon away if theyre in it.
Man City away if theyre not
-
Sheffield Wednesday away, Huddersfield away, Brentford away, Bristol City away, Wigan away
Any of those would do for me as we would get 5000 tickets plus adn not too far to travel.
-
Bradford please, don't care where we play them.
They're out!
-
Hello, just popped in from the future. We drew Man U. 😥
-
Hello, just popped in from the future. We drew Man U. 😥
And tomorrow's lottery numbers?
-
List of clubs who want to draw Villa at home for their 'Cup' Final
The Great Unwashed
West Brazil Albion
Walsall Pups
Exiled in Northampton
Newton Heath
No ta - Yeovil at home for me.
-
Sheffield Wednesday away, Huddersfield away, Brentford away, Bristol City away, Wigan away
Any of those would do for me as we would get 5000 tickets plus adn not too far to travel.
Bristol and Huddersfield aren't exactly near to each other.
-

But you would only have to go to one of them
Bristol and Huddersfield aren't exactly near to each other.
-
Sheffield Wednesday away is a good call. Only an hour or so from Brum, big away end, shit team, it would seem like a good draw to me.
-
I'd love an away tie at Wycombe as it's close to me. They just have to get past Preston tomorrow.
-
MK Dons away. Huge allocation and somewhere I've not been.
-
I don't mind going to a ground that I've been to before, as long as it's Stourbridge away :)
-
All aboard the 9.
Is the Hogs Head still in Stourbirdge town centre?
-
All aboard the 9.
Is the Hogs Head still in Stourbirdge town centre?
I can't remember there ever being one. Then again, it's a strange town. There are some great pubs but none of them are in the centre.
-
When I were even younger than I am now, that's where we used to go on a Thursday night with all the other underage nippers before going into the Picture House.
I quite like Stourbidge, as towns go, its pretty nice. Loads of decent pubs round Old Swinford.
-
Hello, just popped in from the future. We drew Man U. 😥
And tomorrow's lottery numbers?
Keeping them to myself, sorry.
-
Orient away please.
-
Brizzle Rovers away again would be nice
-
Sorry when is it again?
-
Sorry when is it again?
The draw itself? 4pm on Sunday 8 December
-
Draw is straight after Tamworth v Bristol City tomorrow afternoon.
-
Kidderminster please.
-
Kidderminster please.
Kiddy would be nice, not been there for a few years.
-
Grimsby Town
A good mate of mine is a fan and theres been a running joke between us for years about what'll happen when we play each other, now it might actually happen.
Failing that, Kiddy Harriers.
-
Sorry when is it again?

Ta
-
A visit to mr coopers joint would do nicely !
-
The problem with some of these draws is that getting tickets would be a right pain.
-
The problem with some of these draws is that getting tickets would be a right pain.
I'd prefer it to be awkward getting tickets at some lower league club than playing at MancU or Arse
-
A visit to mr coopers joint would do nicely !
850 away tickets maximum. Villa might win but not many of you are going to see it.
-
Small Heath. Kick em why they're down.
-
Why why?
-
Because it would be funny.
-
Why why?
I could see that woman was no good for me ...
-
oh my my....
-
We will get Kidderminster Harriers away, they will play a blinder and get their away day at VP, then we will win 5-1.
The crystal ball told me so.
-
I do hope Kidder get a cracking draw whereever it is and not Hartlepool or small Heath away.
-
With a bit of luck they will get Plymouth away and lose 10-0.
-
Small Heath. Kick em why they're down.
Danger is a full house at VP might give them enough money to keep going a bit longer!
Much better an away trip to a non- league side for them and then get knocked out!
-
When's the actual draw? I missed the World Cup one and refuse to miss this as well.
-
When's the actual draw? I missed the World Cup one and refuse to miss this as well.
On ITV after the Tamworth game. Which kicks off same time as our game. I think.
-
Just checked and it's a 2pm kick off.
-
We're going to be away to a top 5 prem team aren't we ?
-

Cheers.
-
Probably some dodgy tie, like Burnley away.
-
West Ham away I reckon.
-
"Adrian Chiles, what a wanker, what a wanker" haha
-
Excellent from tamuff fans - Adrian chiles - they know what you are ;)
-
West Ham at Forest, so that is gone
-
An away draw please.
-
Strange being number 3 now Bournemouth are back up .
-
Anybody but the knuckledraggers, please.
-
Home to Sheff Utd
-
Home to Sheffield Utd. Not bad
-
Sheff Utd at Villa
-
Can't complain at that .
-
Its our year.
-
Not a bad draw. Could have been much, much worse
-
Arsenal v Spurs.
-
No really good draws yet.
I spoke too soon
-
That'll do. They're League One these days aren't they?
-
I'll be travelling to that @£15?
-
I don't envy John Gregory much if they win their replay.
-
I'll be travelling to that @£15?
Depends on Sheff Utd. Both clubs have to agree to a price reduction iirc.
-
I don't envy John Gregory much if they win their replay.
Over or under the rags getting 10K regardless of who they play?
-
Good fixture for us, should be a nice easy victory.
-
I don't envy John Gregory much if they win their replay.
I'm going to be a massive Crawley fan if they get through to play the shit.
-
Good draw for us, you always want a home tie and bonus against non-prem opposition.
Sheffield United have been garbage this season but they have improved recently under Clough. Marlon King plays for them aswell.....
What a terrible draw otherwise, Matt Smith was painful conducting it.
-
Bournemouth v Fleetwood or Burton
Derby v Chelsea
Ipswich v Preston
Grimsby v Huddersfield
small heath v Bristol Rovers or Crawley
Arsenal v Tottenham
Brighton v Reading
Everton v QPR
Blackburn v Manchester City
Bolton v Blackpool
Sunderland v Carlisle
Macclesfield v Sheffield Wednesday
Aston Villa v Sheffield United
Norwich v Fulham
Port Vale v Plymouth
Manchester United v Swansea
Charlton v Wrexham or Oxford
Wigan v MK Dons
Rochdale v Leeds
Newcastle v Cardiff
Southampton v Burnley
Stoke v Leicester
Doncaster v Stevenage
Shitterminster v Peterborough
Bitters v Crystal Palace
Middlesbrough v Hull
Southend v Millwall
Bristol City v Watford
Nottingham Forest v West Ham
Liverpool v Oldham or Mansfield
Yeovil v Leyton Orient
Barnsley v Hartlepool or Coventry
-

It'll be fun to see what our lot come up with to chant at him ;)
I like this thread, half the comments on the post-match thread are filling me with rage, quite soothing being here.
-
I wonder if a game will get moved as us, small heath and the bitters are all home.
-
In past years either us or SHA have kicked off at midday, will hit the crowd if it gets moved to Sunday I suspect.
Maybe SHA will play on the Friday night?
-
Mind you there is a decent chance Shitterminster will get a bigger crowd than small heath.
-
I wonder if a game will get moved as us, small heath and the bitters are all home.
I'd be very surprised if they didn't move either us or Blues, just hope it's not ours.
-

They should move the small heath game. A lot less fans to inconvenience. Actually they should move it to the Outer Hebrides, the sheep will bolster the attendance.
-
Shame that Kidder and Burton if they get through have not got a big draw. That's why I am in favour of third round being seeded. 32 coming in from the second round play 32 entering in a 1st ranked plays 64th ranked. With that non league lower league teams get a gauranteed top draw.
-
If they brought in seeding for the FA Cup it would be wank. The beauty is anyone can draw anyone.
-

Spot on.

agreed seeding is a rubbish idea
-
You can say that if you like however ask fans of clubs from lower leagues and they may have a different opinion especially non league teams who have climbed a few mountains to get to the third round.
-
The vast majority of non league sides who reach round three are conference sides who probably only enter the last qualifying round. Winning three games isn't really climbing mountains.
-
However if you ask them who they want just before the draw what do you think they would say?
-
I didn't want manure every year. It's tough. You get who you are randomly drawn against. The randomness is what makes the cup draws interesting. A seeded draw would also benefit the 'big' clubs.
Do you seed the fourth round if a non league club gets through because they only got Yeovil in round three?
-
However if you ask them who they want just before the draw what do you think they would say?
The smallest club at home or the biggest away. It's irrelevant though - the beauty of the cup includes random draws.
-
Do you seed the fourth round if a non league club gets through because they only got Yeovil in round three?
No seeding should be based on previous seasons league position and we have hierarchy of league structure all the way to amateur level to do that.

There's no such thing as amateur football.
-
Pity this wasn't away, Sheffield is a tremendous away trip.
-
A last 32 with the odds massively stacked that 20 of them will be Premier League clubs. McGrath no.
-
I hope we meet Blues in the final.
-

Biggest away to add fun.

May be but from 4th round draw will be random so loads of them will get knocked out.

Biggest away to add fun.
Ask Stourbridge's regular supporters about the 'fun' they had when their away support was twenty times its usual size yesterday.
-
I hope we meet Blues in the final.
Are you a blose by any chance?

I remember that dwight yorke panalty at their place - so nonchalant and cool- although had the keeper not moved he would have looked so bad.
-
Ask Stourbridge's regular supporters about the 'fun' they had when their away support was twenty times its usual size yesterday.
And they will have 30x if Villa go there in the third round.
-
Sheffield United are one of those clubs we seem to attract in draws!
-
They'll have 30 kisses if we played them? I know they are a bit weird over that way but that seems excessive even for them.
-
I hope we meet Blues in the final.
Are you a blose by any chance?
No but I want them to get back into the Premier League.

There is a danger the old bill won't let us and blues both play on a Saturday though and history suggests we get moved.

Oh FFS , forgot that.
-
I would say chances are that we will be moved because the other two play on the same day anyway and it's likely our gate will be more than theirs combined.
-
I think we should win although wouldn't be surprised to see arsenal taken back to the lane which would affect our game against them in January .
-
I would say chances are that we will be moved because the other two play on the same day anyway and it's likely our gate will be more than theirs combined.
There will probably be 20,000 at Villa, 10,000 at Albion and 5,000 at Small Heath. So in total the same as the average gate at a Villa league game. No reason why the police shouldn't allow all three to kick off on the same day.

It isn't about numbers, surely, though, more about the fact all three would be at home at the same time.

A new ground to go to would have been nice, but i'll settle for that.
-
I was quite pleased with the draw until I realised we were at home. Would have made a good away day.
-
Sheff utd home...not bad and it also saves me the pain of the Villa v Cambridge United......I would of got pelters for weeks before and after the game.
UTV

Good draw. We should win.

I'm happy with the draw.

Prices are up on the OT. £20 in the Doug Ellis and Trinity. Holte End and North Stand Upper £15. North Stand Lower and Family Area £10. £5 for U16's.
I've have made it a tenner everywhere if it was possible personally.

As we are selling for the NS Upper i'm assuming Sheff Utd aren't taking the full allocation, just the usual league allocation.
And I think we have to agree prices with them when it comes to lowering them so it can be out of our hands.

I assumed that which is why I said if it was possible. £20 sounds a lot for the Trinity and Doug Ellis though.
-
Purely guesswork, but maybe us and/or Sheff wanted the away fans charged £20? If so we have to charge our fans the same price for the same stand, and if we doing that price for the Witton we'd match it in the Trinity.

North Stand Upper will be Sheffield United fans. They've taken 4,800 tickets; initial 4000 (more likely 3600/3800 with the first couple of rows cordoned off) NS Upper tickets to be sold, then Doug Ellis tickets to go on sale, with the allocation potentially rising to the maximum 6000.

I can still remember the obvious disappointment in the announcer's voice when he said 'goalscorer for Aston Villa, Kyle Walker'

They're bringing 6,000 apparently.

Great. Another club who'll take over the Albion/Coventry/Small Heath part of the ground where 2,000 invisible away fans sit.

Are they? Considering they've only been given 4,800 at present, that is some going.

Brilliant!?
My Blades mate will be singing Greasy Chip Butty Song for fu**in' weeks!
As much as I love it, it's US vrs THEM this time around!
Friends don't count!

Could someone please remind me what happens to the Arse game if either us or them are involved in a replay ?
I can't find the original post
Thanks
-
Villa 5 Blades 1
G Whittingham x 2, Fenton, Barrett & Cox
Glyn Hodges for them
-
They've just lost 2-1 to Walsall, but of course this will be 'their Cup Final'. :D
-
Under Lambert we tend to win these games. One notable exception of course...
-
At home we do. Away from home, I can think of two exceptions!

I believe that it would be brought forward to Sunday.

They've announced that they have sold 5500 so far.

They've, as in Sheff Utd or they've as in Villa ?
-
They as in Sheffield United, it would have been we've if it had been us. :-)
-
Tell them to bring their dinner as well. We'll shit 'em

I'm sure it is pure coincidence that Marlon has come to an agreement to tear up his contract a couple of days before a trip to Villa Park.

That post had me searching for when Harewood had left Bristol City.
"Marlon" means Harewood, "Marlon King" means "Marlon King"

'Misogynist wanker' means Marlon King.

Yes, I thought you meant Harewood tbh.
I am expecting Sheff Utd to play the same way they always have, lumping it up to some big thug and being good at set pieces.

I think 'scum' has a nicer ring to it

Hardly a boost for the attendance -
Tom Ross -
@thegoalzone: Just done the saddest but the most honest interview I have ever done with a manager-Paul Lambert saying clubs could do without the FA Cup?
@thegoalzone: PL also said it was purely about the money & staying in the Premier League-but said he wants to get through to next round #thegamesgone

I purchased a ticket for me and the missus on Saturday and there were big chunks of the ground which appear to be 'sold out'.
-
Upper Trinity is closed for the game I think, and Lower North will probably be close to a sell out as it's the cheapest.

Have Sheffield sold out and been given extra seats?
-
Upper North and usual away allocation is all they get as far as I know. Someone said they had sold 5500 so far.

you can't buy tickets for the upper trinity online

Because it is closed for this game.

Lambert doesn't exactly sound up for this one. I envisage quite a few changes and quite possibly an embarassing result.
It's a shame Grealish and Carruthers aren't back as they've proven they can do it against teams from league one. Might get to see Donacien, and perhaps Gardner? Would be good to see Helenius too.

Steer
Lowton
Donacien
Clark
Luna
Sylla
Gardner
Albrighton
Tonev
Weimann
Helenius
Could some kind soul start the pre-match thread, please?

Thank you, Clampy.

Not a problem leeg. It was a hoot.

David Weir had them playing football and Nigel Clough is carrying it on. Their fans are happy at King's contract ending.
They have improved a bit with Clough in charge, though it's erratic to say the least. Potentially a banana skin as our second string really aren't that good though clearly we'd expect to win well.

This thread seemed to peter out very quickly, i wonder why??.......

This thread seemed to peter out very quickly, i wonder why??.......
Because we moved to the pre-match thread
Then the match thread while it was happening
And then the post match thread after.
