I hope this will be of interest to some forum members.
I am organising a 5 team round robin 11-a-side tournament at Villa Park on Tuesday 6th May (9am – 2pm) for fans/grassroots players. Matches will be played on the full playing surface.
Each team will play 4 x 25 minute matches and to keep the games flowing and to enhance the experience there will be no half-times and no off-sides. We will have use of the dressing room facilities and teams will line-up in the tunnel prior to their first match. There will be a cup/trophies to the winners & runner-up.
The price is £125 +vat per person and a deposit of £50 pp is required please to secure bookings.

I am hoping to form at least one scratch team consisting of individuals/groups as I am receiving a number of such enquiries. Please let me know if you would like to be included in a scratch side(s) and we will see what develops.

I am sure you won't be alone Malandro, I daresay there will be plenty of fans taking part who won't exactly be in A1 condition.

I wasn't when I did it as part of another venture. Easily one of the best days of my life and an experience I will never, ever forget.

There isn't a cut off date as such Phil, it is basically a case of first come first served. Initially a deposit will be required to secure the booking with the balance to be paid on 28th February.

Just to advise that there are 4 places available in the scratch team if you would like to be involved.

The scratch team is "potentially" full but it is possible that we may now have a second scratch team as interest has been good. Please message or contact me if you would like to be involved in this year's tournament.

With Villa's safety secured, hopefully everyone will be in good spirits for Tuesday's event. I look forward to seeing you all then and once again thank you to everyone who is participating for your support and to the Heroes & Villains fans forum for helping to raise awareness of our inaugural event at Villa Park.

Nursing the aches from yesterday, but completely worth it. Incredible experience to play on the pitch for real, a feeling that will live with me for a very long time. As will the memory of smacking in a penalty in front of the Holte, even if it was only in the warm up.
Big thanks to Jeff for organising a great day, to the club for being magnificent (and for putting my birthday message up on the big screens) and to Ken McNaught for giving up his time - a pleasure to meet another one of that legendary eighties side.

We had a great day thanks Legion and the weather was excellent which always helps. A big thank you to the staff at Villa Park for making us so welcome and for helping the day to go smoothly. The club have agreed, in principle, that we can do the event again next year so fingers crossed.
Thank you again to the Heroes and Villains forum for helping us with this event.

Just to add - it was indeed an excellent day and I'd definitely up for playing again next year. Maybe we could look at fielding a Heroes & Villains XI...??
