Brentford away. Although they're quite good at the moment.
-
Actually now I see them I'd really like Cheltenham home or away.
-
Barrow away.
A long distance trip to Holker Street and a former league side.
-
Crewe away, got a mate who lives up there and is a season ticket holder so it would be good to go with him.
-
Dorchester Town at home.
The players need the confidence boost of scoring double-figures!
-
I'm off to see Harrogate Town play Hastings on Saturday - I'd like us to draw one of the Yorkshire clubs away in the 3rd round. Harrogate Town perhaps!
-
Dorchester Town at home.
The players need the confidence boost of scoring double-figures!
Charming! They are solidly placed in Conference south 4 points off the play offs.
If I was the Dorchester manager I would be pinning your comment on the dressing room wall.
Bloody arrogant Premier fans ! ;)
-
Dorchester Town at home.

Dorchester won't run up double figures.

No chance. We've got Guzan in goal.
No Given will get a run out.
So will Bent.
We will lose 10-9, Bent scores all 9 for us and `Arry has to pay an extra £10million.
-
Gravesend and Northfleet At Home.
-
Rotherham away, good new ground, was up there the other week with Cheltenham, plenty of pubs and the potential for a great atmosphere
-
Gravesend and Northfleet At Home.
Bring back Savo. He scored against both of them!

It's been too long.
-
Hope they win and Burton Albion pease.
-
Fleetwood away might stir some interest.
-
I work with a Coventry fan and all he does is spout absolute bollocks about them and slags off the Villa constantly. I hope we draw them and give them an absolute pasting to shut him up once and for all.
-
The FACup 3rd draw is one of my highlights of the season. It's absolutely magical. The Mrs looks at me every year and must think wtf !
I would like a home tie, vs Walsall please.
-
Norwich away. Again.
-

Bloody love the FA Cup 3rd round draw.
-
Bournemouth away please
-
Manchester City (A)
-
I would like Sheffield Wednesday or Leeds away. Never been there.
-
Boro away, as it's a easy for me to get to. Failing that, a home game, or an away game in the North, against a lower league team.
-
A non prem team where we'll get a decent away allocation.
-

A non-league team would be nice, but we never seem to draw one.

Here's a question, who was the last one before Gravesend & Northfleet ?

A full house, we'll raise our game, they're certainly beatable and a victory will give everybody a huge lift.
If not Arsenal then Harrogate Town away with a pre-match meet up in Betty's.
-
Crawley or Brighton away.

10th Jan 1920... Villa 2 QPR 1 in Round One. (They entered the newly formed Div 3 South the following season)
Billy Walker made his debut and scored the first two of his 244 goals and we went on to win the cup for the 6th time against Huddersfield.
Next !

I wonder if technically every club in the 1945-46 competition was non-league what with there not being a proper league that year.
-
I wonder if technically every club in the 1945-46 competition was non-league what with there not being a proper league that year.
I like it. Which would then make it the 6th round 1st leg game at home to Derby County.
The all time record attendance at Villa Park was against a non league club !
-
Lets have Coventry City away. At least they would have more than 9,000 in the ground, and that would just be the Villa fans.
-
If Aldershot ever came good and made it into the 3rd round automatically, would it now be "Number 3 Aston Villa?" I'm not sure I cope with such changes at my age.
-

I believe when the draw was made on a Monday lunchtime following 2nd round games on a Saturday the numbers would be allocated alphabetically according to the 64 qualifiers. Therefore, when Aldershot or for that matter certain non league sides such as Altrincham made it to round three we would have been number three.
Also the point you raise about Aldershot can be equally applied to Accrington Stanley. Then of coures we can get into a real minefield about AFC Bournemouth.

I'll take that. Local game for me!!

Tranmere at prenton park for me, i can be home for Sports Report for a change!

The entire population of Birmingham was at that game. Some of them paid.

That's not quite right. The balls 1-44 are all the automatic qualifiers (ie the Premier League and Championship teams) arranged in alphabetical order. The balls 45-64 are the winners of the Round Two ties in the order the matches were drawn out.
So the only way for us to get rid of the cursed number two ball would be for a team starting with A to end up in the top two divisions or, my preference, for Arsenal to get relegated at least twice.

I was talking about how it used to be in "the good old days". The draw was made at FA headquarters on Monday lunchtime, you usually found out the draw by buying a Birmingham Evening Mail at teatime. There were no penalty shootouts, teams may have to replay 3 or 4 times, semi finals were played on neutral grounds, crowds were much bigger than for league games, everybody always played their strongest teams, the only other game on Cup Final day was in Scotland, Yoevil had a sloping pitch, Ronnie Radford had a full head of hair while Motty wore his sheepskin, you watched Cup Final `Its a knockout` at 10am and then waited to see the team coaches leaving from their hotel. The shops were all deserted on Saturday afternoon.......oh yes, and Aston Villa were winners Seven times, more than any other club.
-
What a pity that level of coverage coincided with our most barren period in the Cup. Me and our kid used to love FA Cup Final day on the BBC so much that we used to say if we got there we'd stay home and watch it on telly.
-
Surely the only answer to give to
'Who do you want in the FA Cup 3rd round?'
Is
'The shittest team possible at home.'
-
Hastings away please.
Harrogate Town away please
It's our year for the cup. I have never been so convinced of it. ManU at home in fourth round then Man City away. Burnley away in the quarters then Liverpool in the semi. Villa 4 Chelsea 0 and it's ours.
-
Lets face it, the reaction to the draw will go something like this:
Fuck
Shit
Unbelievable
Every fucking year
Away again
Oh well maybe next year
Man City at home to Barrow. It's all a fix.
Grow a pair you miserable feckers, we have to play the good sides if we want to win the cup.
We'll take 8,000 there
Is it on the telly?
-
Rotherham away, just so I can say I've been to New York to watch the Villa play.
-
can I be the first to say it will be an away tie. Guess not.
-
From a selfish point of view - any away game I can get a ticket for.
I've not been to one since the 2009/10 season, I think. Something relatively well priced that we're not definitely going to lose would be nice to get back in the swing of things.
-
Who could we get drawn away against that we'd definitely not lose? Is there such a team?
-

Aghh..the magic of the Cup!

I'd go for Bournemouth at home. I hear Ted McDougall's moved on, so that's got to be a chance worth taking.
-
Went to the Harrogate v Hastings match today and really enjoyed it, big crowd, muddy pitch, two teams going for it, reminded me what a great competition it used to be until teams started putting out weakened sides as finishing 12th in the table is more important.
It cost me £12.00 and my son £3.00, money well spent. Hope Villa don't get Hastings, their little number 11 will cause problems!
-
Now that they are in the hat - Preston North End away please! One year it will happen.
-
Now that they are in the hat - Preston North End away please! One year it will happen.
That would be ideal for me too Amfy - I might even buy you a drink before or after the game - you can choose the venue!
-
Crystal Palace away
-
At home to Luton, or anyone else non-league that we can suitably thrash to get some confidence going!
Man Utd away it will be then!
-

Excellent but you forgot
F*ck it we can do it!
before we get tonked 4-0 the the Theatre of Wet Dreams.
-
Newcastle at home. They're shit at the moment, just like us. We'll slaughter them 1-1.
-
Now that they are in the hat - Preston North End away please! One year it will happen.
My first ever away match. 1966/67 Preston 0 Villa 1.
I went to Liverpool in the next round and we got knocked out. Seen us knocked out a few times since then.

I was at those games too - Ian St John goal at Kop End - Offside
Did I imagine this but did we play in an all light blue kit at Anfield?
Was also at Deepdale when Dave Rudge broke his leg - you could hear the crack from the terraces
-
Yes light blue kit with a band around the middle .Cant remember the incident with dave rudge though.
-

That was another game at Deepdale -i.e. not the Cup tie
-
A nice easy home tie against a league 2 team please!
-
No thanks. Let's get a non-league team for once!
-
Albion. They need bringing down a peg.
-
For some reason today I'm convinced it will be Reading away.
-

-

West Ham v Man Utd.

Leeds v SHA.
-

-
Ah, Ipswich at VP in 93/4 was my first game. Lost 1-0. Bring it on!
remember that. Was on the holte. Stood next to an Ipswich fan who said he wanted to go on the Holte before they knock it down. Great times
-
Not bad. You never know if Ipswich are on the cusp of moving up a level or just staying in the mid level of the Championship doing very little. They have a few players who could hurt us if they're up for it, but I think we should be winning this comfortably.
-
Decent draw although they're in form at the moment. Reo-Coker will be up for it.
-
An excellent draw.
Ipswich have got a terrible defence.
-
I'm happy with that Ipswich at home not a bad draw for us.
-
We ALWAYS win the Cup when the year ends in 13.
-
Their current goal difference is -22, by far the worst in the Championship.
-
Has anyone else noticed that Everton get more than their fair share of non-league clubs in the draw?
Errrm, Cheltenham aint non league, Dave! ;)
-
Cheers lads.

-
Ipswich lost 6-0 recently
Yes the game before their last fa cup final win
-
I'll take that. Hope Reo-Coker doesn't get booed.
-
Perhaps we can be the conquerors of East Anglia in cup competitions this season. As i write Norwich 1 - 0
-
I'll take that one, my mate supports man u and he's moaning about a premier league team in the draw!! Such shot memories
-
The last time we drew Ipswich in the FA Cup 3rd round we went on to win the league.
A good omen lads.

A good omen for what? Us taking the Football League by storm in 2013?

This time we could win our mini-league.
-
Did anyone guess right?
-
This time we could win our mini-league.
By finishing about 12th? Id happily take that
-
Alan Brazil F**k You !! :)
He truly is a tosser of the highest order
-
The bloke is a massive Alcy and still has big hang ups from 80/81

Mike Parry: "John Thaw, Alan."
Brazil: "Do you know, I've been doing that all morning. John, if you're listening, sorry mate
-
We ALWAYS win the Cup when the year ends in 13.
Nice one!
-
Can never understand the animosity towards Allan Brazil on here. As Talksport presenters go, he is one of the more reasonable, and articulate ones. And despite being aggrieved about 1981, he generally says favourable things about Aston Villa, often saying what a big club it is.
-
I'm happy with a home draw.
Let's hope they do cheap tickets!
-

An Ipswich supporting mate has asked which pubs away supporters generally go to when playing at Villa. Despite having a season ticket for the last 20 years... I've no idea! Suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

If we get a penalty, my money is on Paul Cooper to save it.

The Witton Arms is the normal one for away fans but they charge £2 to get in or they used to.

Found this on Kevin Beattie. Sounds like he has had a tough time of it.
Looking after his wife with multiple sclerosis and on benefits. Then the bastards at the dole office did him for doing work as a radio pundit for as little as £45 a game.
I doubt you would get much change out of £45 if a family of four sat down in Starbucks these days.

No doubt Terry Butcher will still be blabbing about a few stud marks down his back courtesy of Mr Withe.

I'm happy with a home draw.
Let's hope they do cheap tickets!
They haven't. They had £20 for mine yesterday.

They took £20 from my AMEX. That's just over half the price of a regular ticket in my section.
Therefore, it seems pretty good value to me.

I'd expect a low attendance unless 6000 come from Suffolk

And the postman has just brought the ticket. I don't think that £20 is expensive apart from the fact that they seem to assume that our seats in Lower Trinity are worthy of being the dearest seats in the ground whereas we don't get the best view. Thats another issue though.

It's the curse of Legion. At least we can stay in the Lions Club until 5 minutes before kick off and go in there and get warm at half time.
In adversity lies opportunity.
