Not sure if this is the right place to put this or not, please move if nessecery.
My little brother is fourteen and has recently moved schools, and his new mates are all Villa fans, so for his birthday I said I would take him to a game. In addition to this, my five year old daughter has been to a few games at Charlton and I took her to West Ham the other week (we sat in the Family Stand, not with the away support)
I'm looking at taking them both to Swansea, it'll be a first trip to Villa Park for both of them. My brother, I'm not so worried about as he is quite tall, but will it be OK in there for a five year old? The only reason I ask is I have never sat in that stand before and it sometimes looks like a lot of standing goes on in there. Am I imagining this?
Thanks in advance. Help greatly appreciated.

Only been there the once it was a night match v Blackburn a few years ago and we stood all game. However we were in the block right next to the away support in the Witton Lane Stand. I can't remember if the whole stand stood or just our block.

I've taken my 9 year old on the odd occasion as my season ticket is at the back of the Lower North. She had to stand on her seat for most of the game but at nine was just about ok. Would say that for a five year old it's probably not the best place to be unless you can get a ticket in the corner near the Trinity which seems to be a bit more repsectable (and sat down).

I sit in the family stand with my lad. There are several vacant seats by me, and else where, as the family that sat by me have moved.
Would probably suit a 5 year old better

Family Stand would be better for your little one.

Thanks.
Where is the Family Stand and what are the prices like in there? The way Swansea are playing, is this is a good match to take them too to timtroduce them to Villa Park? Probably not...
-
The family stand is around the players tunnel.
-
In the Lower North the half closest to the away fans tend to stand the whole game, where most of the other half seem to sit, if that makes any sense.
You're much better off taking them to the North Stand Upper in my opinion - it's cheap, you get a really good view of the game, and people sit down. Sounds like exactly what you're after.

The North Stand upper offers minimal leg-room. Very uncomfortable indeed.

Sit by me in the Lower Holte. The language will be educational but they will get a good grounding on life and football after!
Just enjoy it, the nippers will do fine.
-
I wouldn't recommend the north lower for A 5 year old as most people stand all game
Unless you edge round towards the trinity / tunnell where people stay seated more
The trinity lower would be my recommend but more ££

My seat is in the back but one row and next to the aisle - blokes in front constantly stand and stewards do not get them to sit - got a bit feisty at the Everton game.My lad , now 11 has to stand on his seat to see!
Stick to the family enclosure

How much does it cost to sign my Charlton supporting daughter up to Junior Villains?
Thanks for all your help. Very much appreciated.

Agree with this. Taken my kids here from about age 6 upwards. It's a good view as well.

If you do go for the North Stand Lower get seats as near to the corner flag as you can, people sit there for the majority of the game. If you do however, and it is a wet day, expect to get wet as there is no roof above you as it is not quite covered by the Trinity Roof or North Stand roof.

Have been in North Stand Upper with eldest aged four and it was fine, but was impressed with our first time in the Family Section in lower trinity (near tunnel) for the Everton game (with a 7 and a 3 year old) - good view, good legroom, no-one standing for long and no swearing (a monumental effort on my part during that first half). Cheap too.

And I believe the JV Life thing is free to sign up to on the website.

Been in the upper north stand a few times with the kids and its an excellent view as others have said. The family section is a far more comfortable experience as you would expect in a more modern stand. The stewards there are also really helpful with younger kids.
However, if you want a bit more atmosphere and want to shout the lads on without being looked at like some sort of nutcase I would go for the lower Holte. Me and the kids have season tickets there this season and the two old giffers in the seats behind us have taken to telling the kids stories of being relegated to division three and have promised not swear too much!

No! JV Life £19.95 per year. Good value though if you can get to all 4 of the matches they are offering at £1 a ticket for members!

Ah, forgot about that.
Should be alright for your kids but you might struggle a bit.
