Title: Number of ST Sold
Post by: deasy92 on July 03, 2012, 11:13:04 AM
For those who are interested, just looked on the online plan to purchase ST's for next season and added up the amount sold (as of 10:30)

Holte – 7461
Trinity – 8644
North – 2797
Doug Ellis (Excl.Away blocks) – 3768

Total seats sold – 22,670

That's not bad considering we are only at the start of July - What do you's think?

The club must be over the moon.

Looks good, and reflects the increased optimism about the place.  If they'd kept TSM I think if you took the '0' off that would be the level sold about now.

That probably includes some they are holding back for additional sales, half years one etc...

But still not bad.

Haven't bought mine yet, forgot about the deadline. Called them and they were pretty good about it, they've given me a small extension and I will sort them out later this week. So that's a couple more to add to the total.

That also doesnt include for the corporate areas & boxes which is included within overall ST figures.

I worked backwards to see how many were sold, off the below figures.

Holte-      5847/13308 Available
Trinity-       2730/11374 Available
North-      3390/6187 Available
D.Ellis - excl.away   2194/5962 Available

14161/36831 Available = 22670 sold

36831 available seats through blocks visible online
Incl. 3000 for away fans
Incl. 2000 for corporate/boxes

Hitting 42K full allocation.

I'm surprised and pleased at the level of sales to date.  As much as it's down to the departure of McLeish I think the club also gets a lot of credit for their pro-active approach.

People, including apathetic Villa season ticket holders need reminding what they should be doing in their spare time and what they should be spending their money on.

I would imagine the 22,670 figure was last year's total and those seats will have been unvailable to buy until only a few days ago as they were reserved for the current hoolders. Maybe they're just giving those people a few more days to renew and haven't released them yet.  I've renewed mine so it's no good me checking, but if anyone hasn't renewed it would be interesting to see if their seats are showing as available yet (although they could have been snapped up in last few days I suppose).

I really think that the threat of so many ST holders not to renew if TSM was still there (almost everyone i spoke to said the same thing) was more than a warning the club heeded to - and bloody good job they did

I really could of imagined sub 22K games and the enevitible relegation that would of followed if we had kept the twat in charge. I know the club dropped a huge bollock in appointing him but thank McGrath that they realsied the error of their ways so quickly

I've had nothing to do the last 30 minutes or so, so tried working it out.

The areas where you can't actually buy season tickets on the line are the away seats, plus c9, c8 and b7 (which I think are the family sections?).

If you exclude those areas from the calculation entirely, you get these figures:

Total Seats: 35,658
Total available: 14147

So, total sold is 35658 - 14147 = 21,421

On top of this, you could add any STs sold in the family section, which we don't have figures for.

However, I do wonder if the seat selector shows the seats of some ST holders as unavailable, when they haven't actually been sold - people doing what Chris said he did, ie getting them to keep them unsold for a bit longer.

So, basically, we don't really know.

Christ, I really need to do some work.

Think you're probably right but it's hard to be accurate. Renewal deadline was 29th June, with last weekend relocation days and seats going on general sale today.  Having said that renewal deadlines were different for different parts of the ground - e.g. North Stand Lower was 6th June, Upper Holte 21st June etc.  What happened to unrenewed seats between those dates and the renewal deadline date is anyone's guess

Nothing happens, the various renewal dates are just for the clubs convenience. In reality it was the weekend for everyone.

My friend decided not to renew this season and his seat is now showing as available to purchase, there where also about 3 non season ticket seats next to me last season  that are now showing as purchased if that any help to you

When I eventually get back  to the UK I won't be a season-ticket holder but will go to more games regularly. my son turns 3 on August 31st and he'll start to go to games from next season so I can't travel up for any game just the Saturday (and maybe Sunday) games that kick-off at 3. (4 on a Sunday). On top of the there's my dad and my now totally villa mad 11 year-old nephew and there's a least 4 through the door for many home games. Those types of numbers won't be uncommon and will just keep adding to the attendance which I think will be generally quite high next season.

Similar situation with me. Only travelled up for two games last year, whereas I had been going up to about five games a season 2 or 3 years back. But, each time I go to  a game there is also my son and possibly my daughter. My brother normally offers to go to Villa Park to get the tickets, and he also tends to then get tickets for one or more his daughters and his nephew. So there have been occasions where I have decided to go to a game, and that has resulted in 8 extra bums on seats. So if I am back up to five games this season, that could be a few more extra through the door. In fact more than a couple of seasons tickets worth over the course of a season.

Its wonderful feeling positive about our club again isnt it?

Its like we have woken up from a terrible dream / nightmare

I dont care where we finish next year (well obviously not bottom 3) and there is no guarantee of success with PL but i just know it cannot be any worse than the shite we have endured  last season and i fully expect to see a good few exciting, high scoring games next season

Bring it on!
