With Facebook and Twitter, its never been so easy for the average Joe to get their opinions into public view. I sometimes look at the BBC Website's "Sportsday" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/18186343) live feed and scratch my head in bemusement at some of the comments.
For instance:
Chris Yeomans on Twitter: "Short-sightedness from Villa to release Heskey when Owen is on a free, the old partnership could have had a renaissance."
Two players with a combined age of 65 or 66, who would be seeking a combined weekly wage of 140k. And how many appearances have they made over the last three years?
-
Not sure if he would be classed as an Ordinary Joe but has Darren "Goughie" Gough waded into our managerial debate yet? He was very vocal about the fans versus AM issue towards the end of the season on the basis he had a mate who is a Villa fan and he had been to a game with him during the season.
-
Could just be a poor attempt at being funny?
But if not I like to believe that natural selection will eventually filter these people out.
-
Gavin Sunley @GavinSunley
#Heskey seen in Sunderland, apparently he went for Middlesbrough but missed #bbcsportsday
is a poor attempt at being funny. Come on, Darwin.
-
I'm currently writing a programme to put an "Idiot Filter" button on social network sites. It works very well, trouble is you just end up with blank pages. ;)
-
I don't mind them talking about us - everyone is entitled to an opinion. But what I don't like is such poor research and ill informed 'facts' people like Talkshite come out with, which the masses then take on as gospel. Such as Bent missing most of the season (he didn't), the fans being on AM's back from the start (we weren't) and Martinez being offered the job last summer (he wasn't).

When a guy from Barnsley who took over 200 test wickets for England talks about the Villa, I think we should give his opinions the attention they deserve.
-
Adrian Durham on TS yesterday,
"Solskjaer turned down the Villa, would he have turned down Man Utd?"
1, he wasnt actually offered the job (as far as we know, so therefore as far as Durham knows), and 2, how on earth can you try to stimulate debate by comparing the Villa vacancy to a hypothetical vacancy at Man Utd.
Twat.

Heskey and Owen sounds like a deadly duo to me

Go on pubehead , you know you want them.
-
Villa being shortsighted? Im starting to think it was Heskey that was short sighted, because good defensive striker he was, he couldnt see that goal!

On that subject who is the manic depressive who is Vernon.
Every time he gets a platform on the radio he just depresses the life out of me - he never has anything positive to say about us
Its no wonder they let him on as he conforms almost exactly to the negative image the media trys to portray us in
-
I remain at a loss why anyone would listen to TalkSport. They deliberately talk shite simply to get you wound up and to talk about them. I mean no body with two brain cells to rub together could really believe what they say could they?

Which is probably why they have him on. He fits their stereotype and reinforces them holding those vews themselves

His other pearl of wisdom was that Ian Holloway would be a perfect fit for Villa.

That's 1 more game than many who voiced an opinion though.

The only opinion that counts are the ones with pound signs at the end of them.

Ordinary Joe's talking crap about our club could apply to a lot on this site to be honest. I'm thinking of one person in particular, meh.
-
I cannot remember anyone ever calling or e-mailing a talk show to say 'I agree completely, I have nothing useful to add'.
Broadcasting troll shows works, the presenters are paid to talk bollocks.
It is only natural that stations such as talksport should go for the best there is and employ tossers like Darren Gough.

You do realise Darwin merely proposed the Theory of Natural Selection, don't you? He's not actually controlling the process from beyond the grave, (via some backwards time travelling) though I do accept that, in some cases, it would be nice if he could!

I remember back in April we were playing Sunderland and Blackburn went a goal up against Norwich.
Some Dingle called James Deleva, who clearly fancies himself as a Journo and always seems to get his inane drivel posted on BBC Live feed, posted the following:
"Blackburn ahead. Looking over your shoulders, Villa Park?"
I texted: "Re James Deleva at 15.44: I think you'll find that Villa Park can't look over its shoulders, on account of it not having any, on account of it being a football stadium."
They posted it straight away. I was getting texts all weekend from mates saying 'Was that you?'
To prove what a prize, Villa-hating bell-end he is, they posted another of his tweets the following weekend when we were playing West Brom, saying:
"As a Wolves fan, I can't believe I'm saying this but: COME ON YOU BAGGIES!!!"
What a cock.
-
0% Villa but my absolute favourite and easily the most stratospherically stupid comment I've ever seen on any message board or live football feed was when Arsenal recently played Wigan at the Emirates.
Wigan scored twice in the first 8 minutes and were all over Arsenal. After about 20 minutes Vermaelen scored for the Gunners.
Somebody texted in to BBC Live Football something like the following:
"That's it! Arsenal have scored! Game over! There's no way back for Wigan now!"
Wigan saw the game out to win 2-1.
:o

Phew! I thought you were gunning for me after the reading the first few words.
How the devil are ya anyway mazrimsbruv? Long time no see.

They said 'Ordinary' Joes Joe.
(Actually they put an errant apostrophe in there as well).

Good thanks Percy. Hope you're well.
Yeah I got very disillusioned last summer, both with Villa and H&V. Decided to prioritize my sanity!
Spent most of the season either watching Skiing or actually doing it.
Now TSM has gone I've been re-infected with the 'hope bug' (ya know, the one that kills ya?) so I'm sort of back in the fold.

Agreed. It's complete drivel of the highest order.

But useful for keeping up with the latest promotions at Selco and if you need information on puchasing workwear.

Say it ain't so, Joe.

the only thing worse than ordinary joe's talking crap about Villa, is ordinary Joes not talking about us at all.
( O. Wilde. revised version) i think
-
Its amazing how many ex Villa players speak on TS and there's only Collymore who actually has anything good to say.
You'd think Tony Cascarino was a world beater the way he talks and critisies strikers, what a waste of a pair of boots he was
-
They're just lazy so and so's.
I've checked, no-one else has done it so the honour is mine

Tony Cascarino is a prick. Can't listen to anything he has to say, can't even understand what the mongol writes.

Mongol? I know he fiddled his Irish ancestory but this may be a bit trickier.

Before Jackie Charlton got him in the Ireland team, Ghengis Khan made a sneeky little enquiry about Cascarino running riot through Asia, into the Middle East and going head-to-head with the Greeks and the Romans.

He was hardly a Genghis Khan when he played.
-
Sitting next to Norwich fans at Trent bridge. They are adamant we no way step up from their club and Lambert would be mad to move. Twats!

Well, as far as I'm concerned, they're bloody welcome to him and to their delusions. I have a feeling that second season syndrome will catch up with them next season.

were they 'High Sixing' each other when the wickets fell ?

My barber was talking some shit about the Villa a few weeks ago. No longer a big club, going to be relegated soon, no money (true to an extent but you'd think we were Rangers the way he was going on), McLeish couldn't do much better given the resources, etc. Reckoned we wouldn't sack TSM because it would cost too much in compensation. Does a good haircut, mind you, so I'll be back in a few weeks to hear him speculate on who we'll sell Darren Bent to.

Quite, more a Ghengis Khan't!
-
The depressing thing is how many of the lumpen proletariat have their opinions shaped by the liars and fantasists in the media and on the electronic sites.
When we had just sacked McLeish I was at a wholesale market and was approach by an old twat about my own age wearing a Man U cap. Everybody knows where I stand so he decided to give me a dressing down for Villa being so hateful and unfair to McLeish. All the garbage he spouted was straight from the pages of the tabloids - "been on his back since day one" "never given a chance" "you hate him because of the club he came from" "had no money to spend" "spent most of the season with a team comprising youth team players" etc. etc.
There are people out there who are so stupid that they believe if Cascarino/Savage/Shearer says something it must be true.
