Have you noticed our badge Terry? He's Scottish isn't he?

"Friendly".
Yes. Want to make something of it Jeffries?
-
He's back and god knows I've needed a laugh in recent weeks. I give you.......Rob Yates.

Cant you buy one off someone you walk past on the way?

The way postal charges are increasing it will soon be cheaper to fly over and buy it in person.

When I look back at some of your work with Monty Python, I'm beginning to think that you have lost your cutting edge sense of humour. Just repeating the same thing over and over is not comedy genius.
-
Which way is it to the Holte end?
(or something like that, I know one of you was asked a hilarious question once)

The Holy End!!

I went to school with a Terry Jones. He was a rabid nose. Is the one on here from Chelmsley Wood?
-
I,d love to have seen that cumming;s play.
If you'd have worked at Hardy Spicers in the 60's/70's you could have played against him as my dad used to. Hard to believe this day and age that a world class Scottish International / Aston Villa full back should spend his "retirement" as a storeman in a Birmingham factory

You're very angry aren't you? You know it's not good for you at your age?

OK, we've all had a chuckle at this guy in the past but his latest rant in the fanzine goes a bit too far for me.
I can understand that the rambling nonsense in his letters are put there for us all to laugh at him but his latest letter reflects badly on the fanzine in my view. It's only barely literate and quite clearly spectacularly unbalanced. Couple that with the excessive swearing throughout (don't children read H&V?), the xenophobia, and the hints of homophobia and for me it's gone too far.
I'm sure H&V gets plenty of letters for each issue and not all of them can make it into the fanzine so I'm interested to hear why this one got in.

Believe me, plenty was taken out.

Never mind Rob Yates, I think Alex Keble's article should be sent to Private Eye's Pseuds Corner as soon as possible.
Dionysian and Appollonian art indeed!
-
Particularly enjoyed the 20 questions article by Robert Adey - I know we will never get the answers but they are still valid - does Mr Woodhall send Randy a copy of each issue (with Rob Yates letters removed) ? It would provide him with well articulated views of serious fans- ones which he should take heed of.
Finally the piece on Mercer's Minors was a trip down memory lane as my first games at VP were in the mid sixties when we were on the same slippery slope we are on today - I know we are safe this season but as so many keep saying next season will surely be worse without significant change at the club.
-
Personally I thought that the "Five" about singing drummers was the best part of this issue.
-
Read Rob Yates, think Alan Partridge. Not for the high intellect ;-) rather the "character"!
Article on page 5.
Is that yours Dave?
Brilliant.
Says it all for me absolutely perfectly!

Gee, thanks. That was mine. Incidentally, we sold out but there will be more available at Norwich.

Sold out today, maybe suicidal depression is good for fanzine sales!

I bought one -felt I had to at the agressive sales pitch from the seller outside the Holte End! ;-)
-
Nice bit of ranting from Rob Yates in the letters section.
-

Saw him the other week at his brother's funeral. Made a good speech, very sad.
-
Have you noticed our badge Terry? He's Scottish isn't he?
He looked a lot more Scottish when he was rampant, could be from Somersetshire nowadays.
-
It made me a laugh, and at the moment that'll do for me.

Yes I noticed him as I came through the Park on my way to the Holte. I tried not to catch his eye as I was sure I will end up buying from him instead of the usual spot!

So that was the reason I didn't see you at about 5 to 2 outside the Witton Lane gates? Ended up missing out.
-
I spotted my cousin talking to Dave W so i went over to say hello to both and somehow walked away £2 lighter.

Woodhall still had a few over the road, I was counting his money by that time.
-
Went to the Wellington after the game and ended up having a couple of pints with three Spurs fans who had all bought H&V.
It turns out that they buy fanzines at every away match and rate H&V as one of the best in the country. Good quality production and content, is what they said.
Mr. Woodhall would it be possible to bring out a special collectors edition of the thoughts of Rob Yates? I'm sure it'd be a best seller. :)

Did you expect any different?

Erm....no. It was my fault, i should have offered you a £20 note instead of a £10. ;)

And what difference would that have made, except you having to buy two copies?

I blame my cousin, he talks to any old body. :)

Can't argue with that.

You make a fair point. Leaving it in shows this person up for the imbecile he is, but it does mean that I will not be able to pass my copy on at work once DW sends it me (we sold out).
-
I read as much of the Rob Yates letter as i could but it was hard work. He had nothing to say other than dish out personal abuse.
-
Is Rob Yates some fictional character in the style of Barry Lose?
