Interesting to see us placed 41st.
Tottenham 51st, never-ending-arguments-about-image-rights-fans!

Remember that the NFL and NBA are salary cap leagues and that MLB has financial penalties for exceeding a certain total wage bill.
If there was no cap, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Football Giants would probably top the list.
Finally, if you really want to see a waste of money, check out the Washington Wizards in 45th place.

If this doesn't shake him out of his self-imposed exile nothing will.

Careful, starting a thread like this could lead to us all catching VD.

Villa 41st
Browns 145th
Daddy must love us more...

Just noticed that the Charlotte Bobcats are also in the top 50. Blimey, they're worse than the Wizards. In fact the 2011-12 Bobcats have a case to be the worst NBA team of all-time.

Some quick observations:
I'm surprised football dominates so much, though UKR's explanation makes sense.
I'm surprised Arsenalaredoingittherightwaydon'tmentiontheticketprices are so high.
I'm not surprised we're the 6th English team. 6th was our lot it seems.
-
You can see why KP's so keen on the IPL. Even though the "season" is very short, that's a nice little earner.
-

Yes, that was a surprise. according to that they're only a bit behind Man United.
As for ours, if the average is $78k we have some quite serious heavy rollers (cue Dunne jokes), and not just one or two.
*sobs*

I notice West Ham are listed as EPL. Do the authors know something we don't?

It will be last season. Blackpool are also listed as EPL. Presume that for this season we will have dropped well down the list, and even further by the time Heskey, Dunne etc have gone at the end of this season.

Only 5 Premier League teams above us in that chart... the usual subjects, natch. Speaks volumes about where we've been going wrong, not to mention the money we've wasted.

What's more, Spurs are 10 places behind us but then the closest Premiership team team is Fulham at 104 - that's a hell of a gap. It's shocking to think that the average pay at Villa is £20k per week more than Everton when you consider the gulf in quality of the football. No wonder Lerner has nightmares about our payroll.

I corrected it for you.
