Title: How much stick did you get today?
Post by: Steve kirk on April 25, 2012, 08:04:57 PM
Just wondered how the rest of you got on today with workmates, friends etc, the piss taking aimed at me today was unbelievable and this was just a starter before the main course should we go down, the look of glee in the eyes of these people was amazing, they cannot quite believe it may happen to the once mighty Villa and the thought of it for them is orgasmic, horrible nasty fuckers, I had better get the tin hat on from now on.

I had a similar experience, it makes it all the more galling to hear the owner/chief exec suggest they know what we're going through when clearly they don't.

The noses are loving it and who can blame them after we dished it out every time they went down?

I had a fair bit but i knew i would, including some off a lad in our warehouse who a couple of years ago was following Newcastle and now 'supports' Albion. Prick.

A lot today, but what was much more concerning was hearing a fellow Villa fan genuinely excited about the prospect of going down, and that he thinks it will be a "crazy adventure".

Knob head.

None. Been at home ill and spoken to anyone but the missus and NHS Direct, neither of whom seemed particularly bothered about talking about the football.

I work in Horwich, next to the Reebok and the CEO at the company where I work made me his first port of call this morning, but it was all good natured banter - it`s a game of football, not life or death.

If you can`t take the stick don`t give it out - remember Small Heath last season and Newcastle the season before - we certainly gave out some stick to their fans.

If you give it out, you have to take it. I imagine the Newcastle fans will be pretty chuffed if we drop, but then the piss taking we did was aimed more at the media led hype than the fans themselves.

Take it as a compliment, I do.

I didn't get anything had a few chats with the people I work with about the game and the mess we're in.  Everyone I spoke to still think that we won't go down.

I work in Manchester. I work with a lot of Bury,Oldham,Man Utd/City and Bolton fans.

They again gave me lots of pitty, which was embarrassing.

I never have given much stick out but kind of wish I had but im not that kind of fan, it was just the level of it that took me back considering we havent even took the drop yet.

More pity than stick. I did have to walk away from one member of staff as he sang "Going down, going down, going down" Nice guy and he was only messing about but I was just not in the mood this morning.

Stayed at home and kept off here so got none. I have horrible recollections of singing 'We'll meet again' at Norwich and also, I think, against Albion.
Just hope they don't have cause to dish it back.

Fortunately I work with a Leicester Tigers fan and wouldn't know about the significance of last night if I'd had it tattooed on my forehead. I had a sympathy chat with a colleague who's a Man Yoo fan but really I just wanted to swear loudly so that didn't help.

I shall shortly be starting a new job with a boss who is a Blues fan. I am praying we survive and they flunk the play-offs, as I may not be in the job for long if it goes the way I think it probably will.

I share an office with one other Villa fan, two Wolves fans and a Brummie red, so none at all. Two are the only team worse than us at the moment, and the red doesn't know what day it is.

Take it as a compliment, I do.
I had to visit a client in Stoke today and one of the guys who is a Stoke fan and has very occasionally chatted to me about footie shot down the stairs as soon as I arrived and said " Bet your looking forward to playing Palace next season then Steve" it was kind of funny and suppose it was a back handed compliment

You should have said "I'll scout the place out for you for the season after next".

None as I don't live in the Midlands, so everyone here just takes pity on us. I was working with a QPR fan today, so we we've joined forces in hoping Bolton/Wigan keep losing!

Work near Stourbridge, so I got away with it, a few Wolves fans giving me a bit of "you're coming down with the Wolves".. but that's about it. Got a few baggies fans lining up the bullets for Saturday.

Living in London, it seeems last night was when colleagues finally woke up to the fact that we are in a right mess. And that I haven't been a deluded maniac by insisting for months that Villa could go down.

I work for a national company so colleagues are fans of diverse clubs including spuds, arsenal, derby, Chelsea, manure etc. Nobody giving me grief but they streaking upbto the fact that we are really in the mire. I think it will be a big shock to people outside of the area when we go down.

The worst for me starts tomorrow when I attend my first auction sale.   Auctioneers all think they are Ken Dodd and work on the assumption that a funny auctioneer sells better.   I give as good as I take but they are on a rostrum with a microphone.   I get very shouty and swear a lot.   It's a bit like bear baiting.

I work in Rowley Regis, a hotbed of Ollbeyun bastards. "Wim lukkin forwad ta rubbin yowa noziz in it we yam" I heard at least 3 times before 9am. Next was a Bluenose who merely sniggered.

There are two things that are going to/will back come back to haunt me. In the Aston Social after last seasons Liverpool Game the whole concert room sang cheer up Alec Mcleish oh what can it mean, and as a group we all sent the same text message to a Blues mate of ours (it was a private joke) oh how we laughed.

Had 'we'll meet again' sung to me yesterday at a client meeting, and a Bluenose mate I was picking something up from asked me to stop longer and 'talk about relegation' with much mirth.
More stick will be arriving later when I go to the gym from Plastic Mancs and Plastic Scousers.
Thanks Villa.

I'm always astonished at the interest in the Villa from my Albion and Blues mates. Towards the end of last season I was genuinely totally unaware of the points needed to finish above Albion yet it seems to mean so much to them this season. The phone messages when they beat us last season too - pitiful.
I just remind them that I've seen it all before in the late 60's and early 70's and that within ten years we'd been crowned Champions of England and Europe after winning the Third Division and a couple of League Cups.
I'd take the rollercoaster ride I've had going down the Villa since I was a kid to their lifetime of underachievement and mediocrity.

Surrounded by fans of Orient, Mansfield, Chester City and the like.  They all understand the hurt and hope of football, so no stick at all, more a welcome to our world attitude.

A blue nose started to come over to me yesterday, saw my face and thought otherwise.
I have noticed a lot of groups of people whispering to each other and they suddenly go quiet when I walk past.
There seem to be flurries of emails going round that I am not included on.
Nobody looks directly at me.
When I came in this morning there was a group of five people looking at a website laughing. They suddenly stopped then went quiet and dispersed as I walked in.
I'm just hoping that no-one has found out that the episode of Embarrassing Bodies when I showed my malformed, diseased cock to Doctor Christian was transmitted on Tuesday night.

In a city where the Brits I know support a wide range of clubs I just get pity. People have been asking how much booze I need to drink to watch our games which are transmitted at prime supping time over here - between 10pm to midnight on Saturday for 3pm kick offs.

Other people in the bar refuse to watch our games with me  due to the dullness factor. My mates will only watch with me if I go to a bar screening multiple games because we are just too tedious for a neutral.

I was in the Camel last Saturday night for the Sunderland game and with 12-15 screens they generously put our game on one screen for me. My mates slowly wondered off to watch some other match and at one point the gaffer turned our game to a Bundesliga match instead to satisfy a group of Germans. He put us on the screen behind the mens urinals (covered by glass) so you could actually piss on our game. That is the perfect summary of our play this season.
