MAN-of-the-moment Andi Weimann is pleading with Alex McLeish to let him finish what he has started by shooting Villa to Premier League survival.
The first two goals of Weimann’s senior claret and blue career have helped earn four of the seven points which separate them from the drop zone.
He now worries that his wonder goal in Monday’s draw with Stoke will keep him out of starting line-up for Sunday’s trip to leaders Manchester United.
The Austrian striker scored on only his second start, having also grabbed a dramatic late winner as a substitute against Fulham last month, rashly going against McLeish's pre match instructions to wander around aimlessly in his own half.
“The Fulham goal was a tap-in really but against Stoke I also showed I could hit a ball, so I’m really happy, The gaffer was furious after the game as he reckoned I was in a good position to pass it back to Shay Given” said Weimann.
“I’ve scored a few but that was definitely up there with the best, a finish like that was instinctive, but the Gaffer and his coaches are working hard to keep it to a minimum.
“It was a good one-two with Stevie Ireland and when I saw the ball I thought I’d just hit it. When it left my foot I thought it had a chance and it went in, at the time I gave no thought to passing back and I knew I was in for a serious dressing down for disobeying orders.
“When you’re on the pitch, you have show what you can do naturally, but I realise now that I may have been selfish.
“I’ll try to contain myself from now on. I’ll do my best to stay in my alloted zone and show the manager what I can do.

How much truth said in jest! Good luck to Andreas though, looks a good player.

The fact that I believed these quotes to be genuine on first reading says alot about where the club is at right now...

Ah yes I realise my brain isn't switched on, very good!

Hope he does keep his place. He looks a very good striker. I like his movement off the ball. Always looks threatening.
-
Cheeky bugger, Fletch.
On a serious note, he should stay in the team. He's sparky, intelligent, technically-gifted, hard-working and composed in tight areas. We may have a gem on our hands here.
-
I always think Weimann looks remarkably like Christian Slater.
-
He's the new Hans Krankl. (One for our older readers there...........)
-
I hope he grows a Toni Polster-style mullet.
-
I like him, but let's not get carried away just yet. Some strikers have a fast start and bang a few in.

Cracking Fletch, made me laugh
he does look lively though which is a good thing

Byfield, the Moore brothers, Agbonl . . .err. . we'll stop it there.

More likely he was taking the P**s out of some of the negative supporters.
-
He`s Austrian - do they have a sense of humour ? :)
-
Our most in-form player at the moment, has to keep his place.
-
Hopefully he'll bang in 2 or 3 more before the season ends, I wish he would have just wacked that chance in the last minute on monday instead of cutting inside but his movement to get into the position was good.

More likely than not dear old Fletch has put in a humourous made up quote into the article and has waited to see if anyone bites.

Excellent stuff Fletch!

I reckon he's no longer Austrian, he's so integrated into our culture nowadays. If you follow him on Twitter all he seems to do is eat at Nando's, hang around at Costas, play golf, and watch football on the telly (when he's not watching Man v Food).
-
He's a decent player. That goal was right out of the Robbie Keane playbook. I know many of us want to bring Keano back next season, but maybe we'd be better off looking to the future and bringing Weimann into the forefront of our plans. He's got a lot of similarities to Robbie in terms of style of play. I think he's got a lot of potential to be very good. What sets him apart from previous Villa academy forwards is that as opposed to pace being his most potent weapon, he's more technically gifted because he's not lightening quick. There's more about him and I think he could have more facets to his game than Das Vass, The Moore's, Fonz and Sir Gabbington of Agbonlashire.
We'll see. But that goal was pure class. I can't remember the last time one of our home grown forwards hit a shot see wonderfully sweet. Gab has scored some crackers, but Weimanns technique to just bend it in the corner like he did was Bergkampesque.

He looks a good 'un to me.
Fergie will soon be sniffing .
-
I hope he continues to develop in the first team look's a good prospect.

(when he's not watching Man v Food).
I love that programme.
Much of what he eats is shit, but it still makes me hungry.

Did you see the one where he went to that place that did fish and ate six fried pieces of fish on a sandwich which consisted of eight slices of bread, and doused in chilli sauce?
First reaction - "God, that's disgusting"
Shortly after - "Mind you, that fish looks nice. Hmmmm"

It's amazing what he eats, considering he's not obese.
Apparently he starves himself before each challenge, he also has to do sessions in gyms when he's on the Road to keep the weight off.
It get's me that after he's struggled to eat all the stodge, he still finds the energy to jump up and down screaming and high fiving afterwards.
I'd just lie there groaning.

His movement was fantastic over the weekend. Kind of the way Bent would move, not something Gabby could pull off
-
He looks like our best bet for a goal at the minute. Must play.
-
Well I hope him and Gabby were watching Moses wonder through and forcing several Manure defenders to fall on their arses.
-
He should be the first name on the sheet this week.

Just Imagine
'My Name is Adam Richman (Cue thudding guitars) I've worked at most places in crisis, but today i'm in Birmingham to take the biggest challenge yet, rescuing Aston Villa from relegation.' (waves fingers at the camera and does bizarre shuffling dance)
-
I would drop Gabby this week. I would normally play him against Man U even if out of form because he terrorises Vidic, but with him out there's no reason to play him. Put Weimann on at the start with Nzogbia, Ireland and Carruthers behind him.
-
Hope he does keep his place. He looks a very good striker. I like his movement off the ball. Always looks threatening.
It's his movement that I like too. I said it after the home game against 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' where he came on late and made several intelligent runs, none of which were picked out by his team mates unfortunately. I noted him as one to watch because of that. Gabby and Delfounso are like statues by comparison. He seems like a good natural finisher as well, so he could be a real find.

Well and truely hooked,
It was a hard day :-[
I read again after posting and thought "surely, there was no way he'd say that" I even checked the date to see if it was April 1st.

I was thinking this earlier in the week. If he's going to play as deep as he did against Stoke and not make many runs, we might as well.
