Title: Villa Auctions - for Leukaemia Research - PLEASE ARRANGE PAYMENT AND COLLECTION
Post by: Mac on April 05, 2012, 10:10:39 PM
Steve Morris of this parish has registered for the Manchester 10K run to raise money for leukaemia.

You can sponsor him on line  (http://justgiving.com/steven-morris1) and he has a signed Villa football and home shirt to auction off.

Can you please post your bids for each item in this thread and we'll sort out payment and postage details later?

Any comments please post and I'll do my best to answer them.

Edited to add sponsor link & Pictures on Page 3

If Steve's got a site where we can donate/sponsor him let us know.

I'll check with Steven on his return after the weekend as to the finish date.

As he now lives in Timperley (Altrincham) unless the winning bidder is from up that way it will be posted.

Hi All,

Just started a thread very much like this one (in the same area as this), but it got moved to off topic, so will repeat here:

On Sunday 13 May, I am going to complete the Stratford 2012 Triathlon, and want to raise money to donate to a charity called Anthony Nolan, which has been mentioned on here a few times since the awful news about Stan the Man.

Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Every day, they match donors willing to donate their blood stem cells to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants.

Why not have a look at their website to find out more about what they do, or even better sign up to the register - http://www.anthonynolan.org/.

Petrov’s diagnosis has sadly highlighted that someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia every 20 minutes, and for many of these people, a stem cell transplant is their last chance of survival.

The triathlon consists of a 400 metre Swim, 23 km Cycle and a 5 km Run. I have the knees of a 90 year old since a broken knee cap a few years ago, and feet that are flatter than a pancake, so please dig deep, as I will be.

This is the page I am doing it through - http://www.justgiving.com/irunswimcycleusavealife

Cheers
Mark

I have an authentic framed 1982 European Cup signed by Dennis Mortimer including team photo, path to the final, copy of the programme, etc.

I paid quite a lot for this at a Lashings charity event 2 years ago. From what I can remember I was getting "lashed" with Phil Defreitas after the dinner and I got a little excited in a bidding war with Devon Malcolm.

Its been unopened and has a certificate of authenticity on the back. I'll leave it up to the moderators to determine period of auction, cash collection, delivery, etc (I'm happy to send directly or equally happy to send it to a moderator to pass on).  All for a cause that has become even closer to our hearts recently.

How do I attach a picture of it??

Hi. I'm doing the Botham walk on Tuesday over the Clent Hills for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and I'm hoping some Villa fans will support me.

I was diagnosed with Leukaemia 4 years ago aged 32 and the Petrov diagnosis is simply devastating. I'm a Norwich fan but wanted to show my support for Villa and Stan.

AVFC have donated a signed shirt that I'll get Botham to sign. We'll auction it off after the walk.

Please sponsor me: http://www.justgiving.com/krisgriffin1 (http://www.justgiving.com/krisgriffin1)

The walk is 4 miles over the Clent Hills and I'll be pushing my 7 month old son Luca in his buggy.

Thanks and best wishes to you all,

Kris

Thanks to all of you for your support and sponsorship of the walk I did with Sir Ian Botham last week for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. We have raised nearly £1500 so far.

As promised I'm auctioning the signed Aston Villa shirt that includes 18 players, Sir Ian Botham and Geoff Thomas (a Leukaemia survivor like me). To make the auction even more unique I'm donating my walk medal.

This is an eBay auction with 100% of the funds going towards Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. You can find photos on the listing page.

What possible earthly reason based on thir dislike for McLeish could anybody have for not bidding on a charity item?!  None of the money is going direct to the club, and all seems to be for worthwhile charities surrounding the awful illness that our captain has.

Let me know how you want to do it from here, I guess I would prefer to pay the money over and it then be donated, since it will be the seller's donation rather than mine. I can either meet up to collect it or can pay via paypal and have it posted to me.

By the way, did it go for more than Devon Malcolm was willing to pay?!

The ball is something a bit special for my Dad's birthday!

Congratulations mate - a generous contribution to the cause.  It may be easier if you just donate to Steve's Just Giving page (http://www.justgiving.com/steven-morris1) directly as I will just do the same if you sent me the money.  If that's a problem no worries - send me an IM and I will give you my bank details and you can transfer the money to me and I will then contribute to the page (get the benefit of gift aid).

With regards to the delivery - send me an IM with your address in the first instance to see where you are in relation to me (I'm in SW London). We can then arrange whether to meet up or send it via courier.  Coincidently my brother is visiting this weekend and will be driving back up the M40/M6 to the NW on Monday lunchtime - could always ask him to meet you at a service station en route if youre Midlands based!

Unluckily for Devon I bid more (obviously) and you bid slightly more again so rest assured you have made a fantastic contribution to the cause as well as invested in an appreciating asset (something the villa should do more of...)

Many thanks again!

Answer me a question if you can. Why would anybody put a bid in for a shirt and then not pay? SDD WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT? Surely you have to stick by your pledge?Especially for this cause. You need to take a look at yourself pal, seriously!
