Former Aston Villa star Lee Hendrie has signed for Evo-Stik Southern Premier side Redditch United on a non-contract basis.
Hendrie, 34, will alongside his younger brother Stuart for the Reds, who were once managed by his father Paul.
Redditch manager Graham Hyde said “It will be great to have such experience playing alongside some of your young up and coming talent.”
Former Birmingham City midfielder Hyde added: “Lee is a huge asset to the club and I hope that the fans are there in force to welcome him to at our next home game against Evesham.”
Hendrie had signed for Chasetown FC in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on his release from Kidderminster Harriers on March 20, playing twice for the Scholars.
The former England International spent the majority of last year in the Indonesian Super League playing for Bandung where he was the league’s highest ever paid player.
His solitary England cap came as a 76th minute sub in the 2-0 friendly defeat to the Czech Republic in 1998.
He has spent the last six months around the lower leagues, trialling for Wrexham, Doncaster Rovers, Corby Town and Hinckley United before playing for a month for Daventry Town.
Hendrie then signed for Kidderminster Harriers of the Blue Square Bet Premier League, playing 15 times before his release.
Hendrie has been in the news recently after it emerged his house was broken into by James Francis, son of Birmingham City legend Trevor.

He's moved AGAIN?
Seriously? Only the other day I was discussing his move to Chasetown with the Dad of one of the children I used to teach who now plays for them. We were both amazed at the turn of events from his move from Kidderminster. Now this?
-
He'll be playing for Villa soon as this rate. Fairfield Villa.
-
Pelsall Villa, even.
-
Fucking hell he gets moved on more often than Paddy Docherty that kid

I actually did see him playing there a couple of years ago. No joke. Was a Thursday night though.

I believe he was a nose.
-
I believe he was in with the villa fans at Leicester a couple of seasons ago.
Maybe he is doing his own version of attending every ground in the football league (as a player).
Where does Bruces' daughter live these days?
-
He would not get in the Pelsall Villa team - I witnessed them last week and they were a good bunch of lads !
-
I went to Redditch's final game of the season last weekend (to try and distract me from what was going on at the stripey-filth). Lee played well, head & shoulders above anyone else on the field.
Not a bad crowd, lots and lots of singing. And I had forgotten what it was like to go to a ground, see a couple of goals, and a good win.

Why did he leave Kidderminster Harriers, anybody know?

Reported as budget cuts.

That's absolutely amazing!
Two pages and no-one has shoehorned a McLeish comment in yet.
It must be a record.

There's an ex-England international available for free, and we haven't tried to sign him? McLeish out!

As a life-long Redditch United fan, I feel the lad can do a job for us. We're a big club punching way below our weight. The little orange fella brings a wealth of experience with him and, most importantly, a hunger.
