Title: Mervyn King in The Times
Post by: Chico Hamilton III on March 15, 2012, 01:27:24 PM
The Guv'nor's life story is being serialised in The Times this week.

Talking about retirement today:

He plans to spend more time playing tennis, and watching Worcestershire and Aston Villa. A dedicated supporter of both for half a century, Sir Mervyn talks as knowledgeably about Basil D'Oliveira, the late great Worcestershire and England all-rounder, as he does about quantitative easing. Asked to name his favourite Aston Villa players, he picks Harry Burrows (from the 1960s), Gordon Cowans (from the 80s and 90s) and Ashley Young ("who sadly moved on last season").

When I saw the thread title I thought......good for him he's robbed the Bank Of England and given the loot to AM to spend on squad rebuilding.

That would certainly help out Rangers' financial problems.

Surely there is a way he could sneak a billion or two out of the next round of quantative easing...let's face it the money just vanishes anyway.

Harry Burrows...what a Shot that guy had ! , standing to the left behind  the the Holte End Goal I once tried to head back a shot of his as it came in my direction ......don,t remember much after that !. I remember his ongoing  feud with that little tosser Clive  ' Chippy ' Clarke from the Stripeyfilth  , it culminated in a punch up ina 1962 game  which resulted in both being sent off , Clarke came off well the worse if memory serves .........................Godzvilla! .

I once ducked a Stuart Pearce strike.  It hit the woman behind me square in the face.
I felt bad.
