Title: I Was Happy In The Haze Of..
Post by: gervilla on January 29, 2012, 10:11:40 PM
...the half time break but heaven knows, despite the most of a bottle of red wine ,so far , I'm terribly miserable now.
I'm just keeping the whole Smiths thing going.
It's not even the normal Sunday night blues as I had to work today, the 2nd Sunday I've had to work in about 6 years.
Some times , Ice Cream samples just can't wait.
Really looking forward to meeting the gloating Arsenal fan in work tomorrow.
Stupid fcukin football.

Few more defeats and we'll have to have a 'Panic on the Streets of Birmingham...' one.

On a somewhat related note, my stag do has just been confirmed as going to see see "These Charming Men", the Smiths/ Morrissey tribute band in Dolans Warehouse, Limerick on Friday March 9th. Everyone is invited for a mass flouncing around.

I'll bring a bunch of daffodils...

Every game is like Sunday.  Every game is silent and grey.

Which wine did you enjoy, mate?
I have tried with a glass of "schioppettino", a red wine from the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia; normally it's fantastic but this time it had a bitter aftertaste of. . . dunne, my personal nightmare. . .

There's been far too many vulgar pictures painted at the Villa over the past 18 months.

Stop if you'd heard this one before, but...

06 Man City Away
07 Man Utd away
08 Man Utd home
09 Everton away
10 Chelsea (sf)
11 man City away
12 Arsenal away

That joke isn't funny anymore

Hmm we really don't get much luck with the draw do we.

More a case of we seem to struggle to beat anyone decent in the FA Cup as during those runs we've had plenty of decent draws.

I'm not sure if Everton were just above or just below us at that time but all the others would have been above us.
It's a long time since we knocked a higher placed team out though.

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way

In that time span we've also drawn Bristol R, Blackburn, Brighton, Palace, Reading, Doncaster, Gillingham, Hull and Port Vale. We seem to beat the majority of clubs we should do, but really struggle to beat anyone of note.

Off the top of my head i'm struggling to think of the last more than decent side we beat in the FA Cup.

Having looked it up i'd say Leeds in 2000 was the last really decent side we beat in the cup. When we beat Everton and Newcastle they were both mid-table sides.

How sad are we ?
And how sad have we been ?
We'll let you know
We'll let you know
Oh, but only if - you're really interested

We're all smiles
Then, honest, I swear, it's the turnstiles
That make us hostile
Oh ...
