If we do take it to a replay, we would want Villa Park to be a cauldron like it was when we drew down there with Sammy Morgan being disgracefully sent off. Bob Wilson was to blame for that.
1-0 win. Sammy Morgan header. ;)

I was stood on the old Witton End for the replay (30/01/74); remember it as if it was yesterday.
Why's everyone suddenly so confident about this? 80% predicting victory!

Them 2 us 0.
Just can't see us winning this one!

Morgan's goal in the replay was one of those ones that could be termed 'sucked in by the crowd'. It was absolute bedlam in there. Bob Wilson lay down until Sammy was sent off at Highbury and then got up and ran round like a spring chicken. He got some stick for it in both games. That was what you call booing.

Can we really win twice in a row away at the Emirates. I don't know about that Dave!

I have a work acquaintance who is an Arsenal fan. He's already assuming they'll get knocked out in the next round by the winners of Liverpool v Man Utd [he's assuming the winners of that game will be Man Utd]. He's not even entertained the idea of us beating them.
I wonder who we'll get in the final.
Them 1 (RVP) Villa 2 (Bent, Keane)
5,000 plus Villa making a right racket - it's going to be ace !!
Their fans are really getting moody and the media are really starting to turn on Wenger so i am not sure he will do his usual and rest certain players - i feel that could be the end for him
Especially if they lost out to "plucky, little Aston Villa"
I really hope we do them and that spells the end for the Myopic Dennis Neilson lookalike
We beat Wolves because we played better than they did. But Arsenal are obviously a different challenge altogether. Still, we do enjoy it down there, usually.

Not in the first 45, we where abysmal, but of course you could put that down to Wolves inability to not put the game to bed.
And then of course they got all stupid and Villa stepped up a notch.
And yes Arsenal won't make the same mistakes I agree.
2-2. Van Persie 16, pen 39. Bent 84, Collins 89.
Whatever the score, as long as one the Irish lads launch Henry into orbit I'll be chuffed to bits. Not that we're still bitter or anything (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vopPLKMGZfo/Tk0kZJN8ArI/AAAAAAAAEBk/rfyV-r-MmCQ/henry%2Bbirthday.jpg)
3-0 Villa. Heskey to get all three and answer his critics in the best poss....

I'll have some of what Chris has been taking!
is this the pre match thread or the predictions thread, we could dicsuss the best possible team, the best way to win the game, who should play , the weakness of the opposition or just go 3-1 to us benty and gabby, arsesharvin for them-meaningless
Can Ireland and keane play in the same side? I'm struggling to see how they both start in this game at least. You could push Ireland back into petrov's position at home v qpr but can't see us doing that in this game.

I have a sneaky feeling we will win this oneI was just thinking how confident I feel with away games lately.
That's the first time for about a year that Lawrenson has predicted our match without calling us "a selling club"He hasn't talked about us at all, ie our good away form or our record at the Emirates. He must still be sulking,as he predicted Wolves to beat us last week
Good sign that we have a dilema with a couple of players. But for me Keane has got to be in the starting eleven. Keane has set the benchmark after the Wolves game and now Ireland and Nzogbia have got to reach the levels he has set .......Ireland has beeen our best player recently, he has legs, keane does not, if you play Keane it has to be for Bent, if we give Arsenal the space we gave wolves we will be down by 3 by half time
Gabby has to play. Arsenal have no full-backs and Mertesacker - just give Gabby the ball and tell him to run at them. They'll shit themselves.This.

You cant play Keane up front on his own. You could play Ireland and Keane behind Bent say. But Keane on his own is pretty pointless and neutralizes all the qualities he brings. You can not surrender the midfield either, particularly against Arsenal, in terms of hold up play Keane would be more effective than Bent. I would play Allbrighton Clark Petrov Ireland Gabby with Bent or Keane up top.
Isn't Charlie injured for the foreseeable future? I thought I read something about him having to see a specialist on a heel injury.

I don't see how you can play Keane as the lone front man. I too would put him on the bench, ready to come on for the last half hour and start Wednesday. I'd play the same side as against Chelsea, but with Bent for CNZ and Gabby wide.
See ITV will be doing the 5th round draw before the match. Is there nothing they won't fuck up?
In about 5/10 years, they will probably have done away with replays altogether, changed it to a mid-week tournament, quarters finals onwards played at Wembley, and the final got out the way played in August as a show piece opening the week before the Premier League starts.
I've not felt this excited about a game in a while. I'm trying not to get my hopes up (years of experience!) but yeah, come on, believe.Me neither,im buzzed up to hell, please let us win it once before I die.....
Oh dear, the BBC are reporting that Heskey is fit. I hope McLeish doesn't pick him for his "defensive qualities".
