It's sad. I guess Trevor is disappointed as any parent who would find themselves in this position. Trevor would have given him lots of advice in the past few years however as this young man is 24 there is not an awful lot he can do other to to provide help if he asks.

I am not so much shocked that the offspring of a multi millionaire bluenose feels the need to indulge in a bit of housebreaking.
No, what is really shocking is that Lee Hendrie appears to have quite good taste in home decor and furnishings - certainly better than Stephen Irelands.

No, what is really shocking is that Lee Hendrie appears to have quite good taste in home decor and furnishings - certainly better than Stephen Irelands.
Which itself is not as shocking as seeing evidence of the lifestyle that being, at best, a mediocre Premier League footballer buys.

I'm sure I remember reading that Francis jr and Hendrie were good mates. It sounds like either (a) Hendrie has pissed him off and he's after revenge, or (b) they're still mates and Francis decided to rob him anyway, making him a reprehensible human being.

I think he threatened to quit because Kaz had started trying to make a few more quid by flogging tickets to the oinks for the suites his family used and someone called his son a nasty name or something like that. I couldn't decide if that was a news story or an estate agent ad trying to help sell Hendrie's house. You have to sympathise though, it is annoying when someone breaks into one of the cottages in the grounds of your second home.

It's widely know Hendrie has done the cottage up to display all his football honours and trophies. Francis Jr was bang to rights once the Police stopped him in a van with a load of empty display cases.

Ex-Aston Villa star Lee Hendrie facing bankruptcy hearing

Former Aston Villa star Lee Hendrie is facing bankruptcy proceedings, the Sunday Mercury can reveal. HM Revenue and Customs has submitted a petition for bankruptcy against the former England international at London’s High Court.
The case, known as a Government creditor’s petition, is due to be heard on January 27.
Last week, in a separate matter, we revealed the son of Blues football legend Trevor Francis had been charged with burglary at a £1.7 million property owned by Hendrie.
James Francis, 24, will appear at court next month, accused of a break-in at a cottage in the grounds of the luxury mansion, Finwood Lawn, set in the leafy village of Rowington, Warwickshire.
The former Villa midfielder, 34, was not at home at the time of the alleged break-in in July. His main home is in Dickens Hill, Solihull.
Hendrie, who once earned £24,000 per week, is currently selling Finwood Lawn for £1.7 million. He paid £1.6 million for the six-bedroom mansion in 2006.
Land Registry records show that Barclays Bank obtained an interim charging order on the property – which can be the first step towards a possible forced sale – at Warwick County Court on August 25.
Finwood Lawn is surrounded by 3.5 acres, with views across the stunning countryside.
The property boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a ‘stunning’ open-plan ground floor, a ‘garden room’, study, laundry, and refurbished cellar bar.
There is also a double barn garage and two self-contained cottages – one of which is believed to have been the target of Mr Francis’ alleged burglary.
Hendrie is a director of six companies, five of which have a good credit rating and one is in liquidation.

I always liked the lad,
he probably is a bit of a numpty in real life,
but For whatever reason I enjoyed watching him play for Villa for the most part, although would definitely concede he wasted his talent somewhat and given more discipline and determination could have been a lot better

Yeah, i'd go with that. Always was popular with me, and Villa fans until everyone stopped liking him for thinking it reasonable that chavs who could play football should mind their ps and qs with their betters.

It says in the article that he's a director of 6 companies, five of which have good credit rating and one which is in liquidation.That happens in business, doesn't automatically mean that he's frittered his money away.Wasn't it being reported last year that Friedel was facing bankruptcy due to a failing business venture? I don't think anyone would regard Friedel a similar character to Hendrie.

Ah, the Freidel character thing. Applauded and lauded and giving approving nods when he made one more move purely for the money. Milner went clearly for the football and his career and he is lambasted as being motivated by money first and foremost. Crazy, and wrong.

I used to live next door to Finwood Lawn in Rowington. We were told by our landlord that Hendrie lived there but that he didnt own the property. I never saw him coming or going in the 12 months I lived there so I took it with a pinch of salt.
One thing missing from that description of the property is that it is smack bang next to the M40 and the noise is constant. If it was another half mile away it would probably be worth a few hundred grand extra.

I don't see Milner getting lambasted too much, either. In fact, I reckon he'll get a fantastic reception next time he comes here with Man City.
My point being that on went for the money and the other didn't. When Milner first went he was held up as a figure of ridicule for accepting a higher wage when to him, at his age, it is all about his football career not his money. Friedel, as you said was offered a new contract but went to Tottenham for the final big pay day (signing-on fee). It could be that we wanted a new keeper, realised he was getting on a bit, liked him for his service to football - but either way he went for the money and not once has 'Greedy bastard' been thrown in his direction.
Don't get me wrong - I'm happy that he's gone as I thought we were getting a better keeper than we did. I just wonder why he is free from any abuse regarding his choice to leave.

I'd imagine a large part of it is because a lot of us, like you said, weren't that bothered to see him gone. I certainly don't think he'd be worth a two year contract age 40.
