Hitting a "Like Button" is a lot easier than getting to a game.

Of the many mutual friends of mine that have 'liked' this, most of them are young girls who don't like football.

Because according to Alf Garnett they won the World Cup in 1966.

Either that or when you sign up, the directors send you a pack of "special programmes" in a plain unmarked envelope.

In the space of a month or so we have added 100,000?  At that rate we'll be well over a million by the end of the year.  With the relative lack of media exposure and Champs League football we must be the non-glory hunter's club of choice.

Well its a frikkin pity a few of `em don`t turn up at the games now and again. While we`re on the subject, NO WAY was there 32000 at the QPR game.

There won't have been. Attendances are tickets sold, so it assumes all season ticket holders turn up to all matches.

I was watching the Arsenal Blackburn game on Saturday and was really surprised at how many empty seats there were.

Do Arsenal not understand that the attendance is the number of people who attend on the day?

If we wanted to know the number of tickets sold we would ask...

The turnstiles are electronic, can't be beyond the realms of possibility to count the number going through on match day.

Tbh, it doesn't bother me, at most only I reckon only around 500-1000 tickets that are bought by people for Villa are unlikely to attend, so the figure is going to be fairly accurate.

I reckon it is sometimes more than that.

The block I sit is entirely season ticket holders, they're hard to get seats, and frequently this season I reckon 25% of the St holders haven't been there.

Thank you, much better.

And I prefer that to There She Goes, find it too overrated.

We just need a few more internet nerds to "like" Villa and we'll be challenging for Facebook Champions' League.

If I'd known before how easy it is to support a team I wouldn't have bothered wasting my money travelling all over to watch the Villa play for the past several decades.

Judging by what most of them write on that Facebook page, we would be better off without them. Load of bollocks anyway.

Not that it means anything whatsoever as it's all bollocks, but it's almost pleasing to see we are so far head of Newcastle and Everton.   Also pleasing was just how far behind Man City are from Liverpool.

Have they already done the millionth 'liker' competition results? Was kind of relying on that to see a home game..

The most telling thing is that, without the sudden winning of the lottery a few years back, Man City would be well down that list.

Fucking glory hunters. I hate them.

Quote
The incredible milestone of 1m likes has now been reached on Villa's Facebook page.

Our social media site enables claret and blue followers to globally connect and share their love for the team.

Villa have now hit the treasured 1m and remarkably achieved this feat within three years.

The popular page began in April 2010 when James Redrup posted the first comment.

The page continued to grow, bringing with it exciting content from within the club.

Fans now receive news, views, wallpapers, pictures, polls and much, much more.

In the first year we had photo treasure hunts and mammoth badge design votes.

By January 2011, Villa signed Darren Bent and the likes burst past 100,000.

The page grew at an ever-increasing rate and 2011 saw us add 247,000 likes - that's 675 a day.

Then 2012 saw us add another 500,000 fans.

Almost 80% of our Facebook fans come from outside of the United Kingdom.

There are Facebook followers from all over the world speaking over 30 dialects - English, Spanish, Indonesian, Arabic, Portugese, Thai and Mandarin.

There are 30,000 fans in Ireland, 25,000 in the US and 275,000 in Europe.

Top following cities include New York, Dublin, Singapore, London, Mexico City - along with Birmingham, of course.

Player acquisitions have been shown to create large spikes - with 2,000 liking from Holland when Ron Vlaar signed for Villa and 3,000 liking from Belgium when Christian Benteke signed.

To celebrate the achievement, fans from all over the world are being invited to enter our 'One In A Million' competition with a money-can't-buy prize.

Enter on Facebook to win a unique trip to Villa Park and watch the home game against Liverpool.

But, not only that, you and a friend will enjoy VIP treatment and stay in the city centre with £200 spending money.

What's more we will be giving five runners up an away shirt and everyone who enters will be given a free 14 day pass to AVTV, Villa's online TV channel.

Make sure you enter our competition (https://www.facebook.com/avfcofficial?sk=app_517776618255108) on Facebook.

My proudest moment as a Villa fan was when Randy sent us all that letter boasting how proud they were to hit the Deloitte Top Twenty, and how that meant things were ace.

There aren't many club owners who'd be sufficiently stupid to write a letter to season ticket holders to lift spirits and not mention footballing ambition once.

I must admit to having paid to have my Deloitte Top Twenty letter framed and it now has pride of place in the khazi*.  I believe that despite this being the clubs aim to stay in the top twenty we're already lagging down in the high twenties.  Oh well it was fun whilst it lasted, maybe I should put our 7th place in the Facebook followers league in its place.

*This is a joke.

Two million virtual followers is nothing when you consider that Small Heath get at least 200,000 through the gate at every home match.
